Solution? You really do have a singular way of looking at the world. As if there is a solution to such a complicated issue.... One that's SO hard for you to contemplate that you just throw up your hands and say there is no issue at all!

Luckily, the realization is dawning that if decision makers and voting bodies are majority white, that bias will be seen in casting decisions and awards recipients.

Fortunately, creatives are learning that more and growing audiences want to see reflections of the actual world in their performing arts. In some instances they have made commitments to diversifying their behind-the-scenes staffs and many audience members are noticing when the same old all-white choices are trotted out. NOBODY anywhere has proposed the "solution" of quotas you and only you have mentioned.

But me? I'm finding myself less and less interested in spending my money on all-white anything. Sorry, "She Loves Me."

You began this thread by suggesting that representation compared to the population was not only acceptable but satisfied in reality.

You responded by accusing us of going beyond your initially posed insistence on proportionality and of advocating for some quota-based system of casting.

Wanting fairness and general proportionality in casting is one thing.
Wanting quota-based systems of casting is quite another.

Obviously you must agree with that. Because you began this argument by crusading for the former and ended it with condemning - and wrongly calling us champions of - the other.

So if there's a double standard at play here, you are the virtuoso. Not us.

How I choose to spend my money is not part of the problem. I don't owe all-white shows my time or money. If I lean towards inclusive shows over all-white shows, I am picking the opposite of "separation."

Also, Henrik completely illustrated why your phony constructs are phony, why what you're doing in your posts is actually quite different from what you say you're doing in your posts. We get it, you don't like black people. You feel stupid when the Schuyler sisters repeat their names. And you HATE it when the cast of the hottest ticket in years sings, because you think they think they "look cool."

I disagree, PRS. It’s not the ignoring, per se, though that’s one vehicle often suggested to achieve the real end, which is taking their power away. In real life, it’s tricky to strip a bully of his or her power because it’s usually bolstered by groupthink or a cabal of minions. (Which is also why bullies are much more prevalent/threatening in younger age groups.)

In my experience with Internet trolls, since they’re almost always lone wolves, in the vast majority of cases where I’ve seen them be uniformly ignored, they go away – usually pretty quickly, too. The expression “Don’t feed the trolls” is accurate because feeding is what they need.

Dave 19 isn’t a bully. He’s a troll. Literally all he’s done since arriving is dangle bait, which has been repeatedly gobbled up and has brought the board to suestorm-level consumption territory. I wish I could buy the crusader mentality, but I don’t. A theoretical person happening across this thread in danger of taking this troll’s twisted logic as gospel – well, if they didn’t come to their senses about it after 5 posts, it’s probably reasonable to assume they’re not going to come to their senses about it in 25 or 50.

But I don’t disagree with your last point, and I suppose there’s the rub.
