Recent screening with audience reaction...why can't Chelsea Classics do something like this?
I'm pretty much like this every day!
Found this. Adding it just for fun.
Love, love, LOVE. Thank you!
Don't know if you've seen this, Borstalboy ... but it makes me smile every time I watch it.
Two guys from Amsterdam
Share the joy ...
These are from original negatives, so the color is great. I wish the whole movie looked like this again!
I love the cute guys from Amsterdam!
Interesting that video is actually better directed than the original film.
I still love the movie. Big, giant warts and all. I'm hoping for an "on demand" DVD release via Sony. They've been rumbling about releasing it ever since I had them as a client. I bugged them a lot about it (hoping I'd get to work on it). But it never made its way onto their production schedule.
Now that they've started their own on-demand system (like the Warner Archive releases), I'm hoping they'll do it.
Man these clips and images got my Liv Ullman boner up and raging again!
This oughta put you right over the edge, SNAFU.
... also from Lost Horizon.
I so love this score...even this klunker...what lyrics!

And whatta dancer she is, no?
Reflections reflect, yall!
"'Cause your reflections reflect in everything you do.
And everything you do reflects on you."
Rock the house, y'all!
Words to live by.
... or is it leave by?
Oh have been a huge fan of Liv from her Igmar Bergman days! Le sigh.... Would almost go straight for her... wait...naw.....hyperbole!
Confession time...I used to do a duet with myself when I put on shows for my family to this song.
I love that, uncageg! See ... the thing about this movie is that the score is actually pretty good. But the movie was made almost like a non-musical film with a non-musical cast ... and then they just wedged these songs "from another planet" into it.
It's oil and water, and they just don't mix. If you watch the first part of the movie (where there is no singing) right up through the plane crash and into their first encounter with Shangri-La, the movie is good! I've shown it to people, and they look at me and say they can't figure out why this bombed. Of course, I tell them, "wait, they haven't started singing yet."
Then comes the tunes ... from the non-musical singers (except for Bobby Van) ... and they just don't fit! But I also know people who have never seen the movie who love the soundtrack. Again, I say, "just you wait until you see it." Therein lies the mess!
Here's a pop version of that song, uncageg---by Diana Ross & Marvin Gaye, no less!
The Things I Will Not Miss from LOST HORIZON
Ok Besty, I need to own that for my next show!
I love the score for this movie and as cheesy as the movie is, I loved it. I probably saw it 5 times in the movies as a kid.
So great to hear! And you don't have to convince me, uncageg. I was nine years old when it was released, and I saw it three times in the movie theatre, as well.
Here's one more for the road. I can't stop laughing at the cover to this single with the Raggedy Anns and Andys on it:
The 5th Dimension singing "Living Together, Growing Together" from LOST HORIZON
I swear I remember seeing the 5th Dimension do this on a variety show.
Oh, wasn't trying to convince you Besty, just commenting.
I know! We're kindred spirits, uncageg. I wonder how many kids out there like us saw this movie multiple times in a theatre and then wore out the soundtrack LP afterward.
Not enough to make a dent in the box office take, obviously. :)
Interesting fact is that Marilyn McCoo hated the song "Living Together, Growing Together". The group recorded under protest and were forced to do so because at the time they were under contract to Bell Records, a subsidiary of Columbia Pictures, the studio that produced and released LOST HORIZON.
As for me, I have a soft spot in my heart reserved for this film.

More LH goodies...including the missing link between LOST HORIZON and Act Up.
I can't say I love this film, but it has its moments. I do, however, love its score. I was at dinner, in December, and the person I was breaking bread with, was interrupted by a phone call. When he got off and apologized for the interruption, he explained that it was someone who was producing the DVD (not Blu-ray) release of the musical version of LOST HORIZON (which I have on laserdisc).
JB2---that's fantastic news! I just emailed two of my former Sony DVD clients to see if they'll tell me anything. (They may not, if it hasn't been announced yet.)
I also have two friends in L.A. who are serious hardcore "Lost Horizon" collectors. They have tons of behind-the-scenes photos, 16mm vintage documentaries, rare audio recording sessions (many takes not used in the film), etc. Crazy stuff! If the DVD is in production, I'm going to try to hook these people up.
BorstalBoy---One of my two hardcore collector friends created that video! He's heavy-duty for all things "Lost Horizon" related.
I am so upset but in my move back east, I had to give up my vinyl copy of the soundtrack.
Besty, I need to check-in with that guy and see if there is an update to it.
uncageg, there is a CD release of the soundtrack.
