More incoherent babble from Sarah Palin

And I just saw that damned Nora O'Donnell on MSNBC interviewing a Politico roboto who basically said Palin's numbers are down partisan lines, and that Republicans felt her performance was just fine. That's simply a lie -- look at the Kathleen Parker piece (separate thread) -- many people are in public and in private voicing more than a little concern.
But the idea that she shouldn't have travelled abroad because only 28.8 million Americans have passport (80 million people, by the way -- not the population of, say...Alaska) is preposterous. If she were running for Mayor, or even Governor, fine, let her stay. But this indicative of a Bush level of incuriosity about the outside world, a rabid kind of "elite" provincialism -- the new spin: "I'm actually untained by world politics, so I'm more 'normal' and better than you."
It's a new low, the idea that the brightest and best shouldn't apply to the highest office -- that instead we need small town unaccomplished mediocrities because somehow, devoid of an Ivy League education, such a person is more 'real.' This new dumbing down is many things, but it's first and foremost unAmerican. Who the hell founded this country?

Granted, she did this when she was younger and had no idea she would be in the position today- BUT- do you know how many countries would find this display extremely offensive? It's so sexist (and disrespectful in some countries) to parade around like that!

Uh, Papa, my point was hardly about "peasants" voting; it's about so cynically selecting a mediocrity for her ideology rather than her skils, and then training her like the Manchurian Candidate Lite to spout just enough knowledge to pass, if not pass muster.
But please, let's run with your appraisal. If she's the real deal, the Republican's best choice, just what the over-analuzed country truly needs, then why lock her up? And why make her cram for her test? Why not just let her race out and spread her pragmatic common sense on us all, as is? After all, you feel as is she's good enough for the 2nd highest office.
Why skip the impromptu questions? And fill her normal round mom head with a smattering of all that pointy-headed elite stuff, if the pointy-headed elite information isn't all that important anyway?
If Palin's what we need, why, let her shine brightly, 24/7, until we have to squint to look at her! I dare say, we can take it, we'll risk the sunburn in her presence! Don't hide her!

Posted: 9/26/08 at 5:39pmIt's like I said in that thread about the wolf hunting policy. Wolves are bad! It's in the Bible, which makes it American. You know, the part when Eve wanted to eat the apple but the gay wolf in drag told her she had big breasts and then ate her like a sexist and that is why it's good for reforming health care and creating jobs and it's really about taxpaying the bad witches from unemployment welfare reform who I did not try to fire have an affair with my unmarried pregnant teenage daughter which has earmarked the Bridge to Nowhere which I personally shot down and ate for dinner didnottrytobananybooks.

it's politics, auggie. you hide her to create a buzz. allow her to look dumb to lower expectations. then when she manages competency against joltin' joe in the debate she comes across as the huge winner. but let's grasp on one moment from one interview and base an entire election on it. you're helping define her. when she exceeds those parameters even by a little she wins.
your misunderestimating her just like ya did george.
now please go back to looking down your nose and scolding jesusland for daring to still believe in god and wanting someone with whom they can identify in a time when the country has seen the pointyheads get us into what you folks seem to consider just short of the apocalypse.

Jay Leno:
"And all this week, the McCain campaign is trying to prevent Sarah Palin from talking to reporters covering the news, you know? They said, 'You can take her picture, but you can't ask her any questions.' What is she running for, vice president or America's Next Top Model?"

papa--I tend to agree you with on most political manuevers but you're reaching this time.
She is dumb by VP standards and Americans are sick of the dumbing-down of the Executive Branch of government. There comes a time in which we have to set aside partisan politics and think in terms of "country first" a theme which should resonate with you. Simply put, Gov Palin is not ready for prime-time.

Posted: 9/28/08 at 6:07pmIf she makes it to the end of the debate without saying anything outrageously stupid (As in the audience roars with laughter) she will be hailed as the winner.

Posted: 9/28/08 at 6:24pmJoe - She'll be hailed as the winner by the Republicans, regardless. They've proven they are completely ambivalent about anything they say or do. This campaign has reached the ridiculousness of a Britney Spears PR strategy meeting.

And the debate moderators as well as Joe Biden will have to be extremely careful about how they address her and insist that she answer questions. The slightest attempt to insist on a real answer will come across as bullying. The people who support her now are obviously not looking for intelligent answers and they will not be swayed by attempts to hold a serious debate.
It's just depressing that so many Americans are accepting this travesty.

Posted: 9/28/08 at 6:32pmThe McCain campaign is trying to set the bar so low that she couldn't help but exceed expectations, and the MSM seems to be buying into it. However, it's up to us, the voters to set the bar at what should be the expectations for our VP. That's how the presidential debate worked. The pundits seemed to score it for McCain, but the viewers seemed to have favored Obama.

Everyone I know would be encourage at least ten more people to vote for Palin if they could hear the way you all are talking.
