In auggieland, I pray we will be idiot-, not peasant- free. (but thanks, Papa, I never get my name in a subject line). I do love the non-stop assumptions that pointy headed people like me (another compliment) look down our noses at Jesus, his followers or christianity in general. for the record, I'm a card-carrying, practicing christian, as are many of my friends, who thinks the world is older than 5000 years, as max von sydow opines in hannah and her sisters, that if Jesus came back and saw what was being done in his name, "he'd never stop throwing up."

Thursday night will be interesting.
As papa has mentioned (as well as others) they have lowered expectations to the point where if she walks and chews gum at the same time she will have done OK.
But, I also heard that there are some more portions of the CBS interview they have not released, which are purportedly even more problematic than what we have seen. To hold it like this seems to me to be playing into the argument of media bias.
If there is a perception that she is not getting a fair shake, her support will grow notwithstanding her actual competence, or lack thereof.
EDIT: Whoops CBS, NBC ...

I caught the end of tonight's Couric/Palin interview. The part I saw showed a very freaky McCain trying to laugh at his own comments- very uncomfortable. I also thought it was interesting how he had to be on the interview this time- what she couldn't handle it herself. She kept looking over at him while she was anwering the question about whether she has expereince. McCain brought up the fact that Reagan was a cowboy and that Clinton came from a small state. (yeah, but I say again, he was a 2-term governor who was also a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford) Now I'm gonna have to wait to see the interview posted.
edit- Okay, I had to google- the population of Arkansas from 1990 - 2000 was 2, 710, 079. Alaska in 2000 was 626,932. there you have it!

Posted: 9/29/08 at 7:39pmRumors are flying that there is a yet-to-be-aired piece of the Couric/Palin interview in which she is unable to discuss any other Supreme Court case other than Roe v Wade. Apparently there's no incoherent babbling in this one, just awkward silence.
