To a 17 year old.
My mother's 55 (in a week) and she's far from elderly.

Posted: 7/17/09 at 12:59amOkay, elderly geezer was an exaggeration! Though since I was assumed to be one apparently, I ended up using that word falsely.

Posted: 7/17/09 at 7:56amI've been married for almost twenty four years. Over that time, my opinion on gay marriage has morphed from 'what, your're serious?' to 'give them civil unions with the same rights' to 'the only right thing is full marriage equality'. There wasn't any specific moment of clarity, but at some point I realized that if the word 'marriage' was so important that it had to be protected, then civil unions could never, ever, be considered equal. I took me forty eight years or so to get to this realization, aided in part to the time I've spent on this board. The good news is that my three kids, and the vast majority of their friends, think that marriage equality should happen as soon as possible.
