LOVE that moment.
Talk about Bette Davis eyes!!
Also love when she's sitting on the steps singing with the children.

Please don't play governess, Karen, I haven't your unyielding good taste, I wish I'd gone to Radcliffe too but father wouldn't hear of it - he needed help at the notions counter...
I'm being rude now, aren't I? OR should I say "ain't I"?

Camille Beauchamp, you mean? :)
Now Voyager is up there as one of my favorite Bette Davis movies. And let's not forget:
the evil Regina in "The Little Foxes.
her attempt at screwball comedy in "The Bride came COD" (I felt so bad for her during the entire film- MISCAST).
Ruth in "Three on a Match" -Don't miss this pre-code movie about three girls from school and what they become (one becomes a crack whore...and it isn't Bette!).
And the one where she plays a twin who murders her sister so she can marry the man who loved her sister and live a life of ease. Title?
edit: I almost forgot, Bette in "Satan Met a Lady" - an early version of "The Maltese Falcon"......done as COMEDY.

It's much too easy to quote Baby Jane, All About Eve, Jezebel and Now Voyager. Can anyone remeber where this one somes from?
"Put the money in the bag or I'll open ya up like a can of tomata soup."
It wasn't one of Miss Davis' finer moments in her career.

When paying tribute to Bette, you have to include the really bad movies like The Stepmother and....someone help me, my brain is dead tonight.....70's movie, horror, a family moves to a country house that posseses the father and Bette plays the aunt who comes along....it's the movie that Stephen King obviously ripped off when he wrote The Shining.
Also, there are seldom remembered performances thatw ere wonderful, in spite of the movies not doing as well as some of her earlier ones: The Corn Is Green, Watcher In The Woods, Mr Skeffington and The Nanny.

That's it Burnt Offerings.
I want to se how long it takes for someone to come up with teh title of the movie that I quoted....and, you should be especially proud or embarrased, I'm not sure, if you can get it without any help from the internet but because you saw this movie.

I'm only really good with early Bette, as in:
So Big
Satan Met a Lady
Of Human Bondage
and the like..I'm a big Pre-code Hollywood fan, so, though I've watched the Baby Jane, Dead Ringer, Hush Hush, Sweet Charlotte and The Nanny movies, I don't tend to watch them over and over again, like I do with the early ones.....when she was HOT...HOT...HOT!

I've heard that her performance in OF HUMAN BONDAGE is amazing.
I'd really like to see it.

Glebb...no one plays a Bi-polar crack addict better than Bette....she was so young when she made this movie and she willingly made herself look like CRAP for the later part of the movie....when the consumption/herion use caught up with her.
She's stunning in this role as a rude littel chirpy who tortures Leslie Howard (how did this man EVER become of 1930's idol, I'll never know, by the way)throughout the movie.

That's the "...wipe my mouth..." speach.
She is terrific in that film.

I know someone who raves about her death in that film.

Her closing scenes in that movie seperate here from the other actresses of that era. Not any actress ould let themselves appear on screen like that. Remember, that was the era of the "full makeup and hair" death scenes!
The Old Maid is another fantastic Davis film...
