It is ridiculous to set a detective story in New York City. New York City is itself a detective story... AGATHA CHRISTIE, Life magazine, May 14, 1956

If I were staying home today I would totally be watching a Bette Davis movie.

Or an Una Munson movie wondering what Bette Davis would have done with the role?

Yeppers and I just know Tanny would adore either of them.

I am currently reading a biography of Bette called "More than a Woman" and it makes her out to be the most unbalanced bitch in the business. Torturing fellow actors, directors, and husbands. Frightening her infant duaghter into hiding behind chairs and defecating.

I've read others, including Mother Godamn, and they were at least balanced.

There is a moment early on in "All About Eve" in which the old actor is rambling on and Margo is pouring a drink. Someone offers her a bottle of soda water and she flicks it away with her wrist and a wry smile [as if saying "I need this drink straight up tonight, pal!"].

That moment alone should have given her the Oscar.

And if you have not seen this film, shame on you. It is one of the great films period.

Or exclamation point. :)

Do you know what happens when you let Veal Prince Orloff sit in an oven too long?

So, I'm only halfway through "More than a Woman", and already read two other biographies of Bette Davis. I haven't even started on B.D.'s book yet....

As much as I admire this woman's professional work, what a bitch! She even refers to herself in this manner and is proud of it! I thought the first biography might have been biased, so I read Bette's version. Then this one. There's no difference.

Hot damn!

I love the brilliant teaming of Bette and Maggie Smith in "Death on the Nile". They are so great together. I also love the exchange between Bette and Peter Ustinov's Poirot:
"You perfectly foul French upstart!"
"Belgian upstart, please, Madame."

I killed the boss, you don't think they're gonna fire me over a thing like that!!!!

Nothing can compare to that golden era....Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Susan Hayward, Claude Rains, Bogart, etc. etc. The list goes on and on.....
