Ok, so I just found a new Bette Davis fact out while reading yet another pre code book and felt the need to share with you:
When she first arrived in Hollywood (around 1930) the studios wanted her to change her name to "Bettina Dawes".
Bette refused, stating she would not go through life with a name that sounded like Between the Drawers.
Yet another smart move by a smart woman.

Posted: 1/14/06 at 6:36pmI think my favorite memories of Miss Davis were all on the Tom Snyder show "Tomorrow". She was a fan of the show and he had her on a lot, Sitting, Smoking and full of hilarious stories. That was a great late night show, Now we have everyone doing the basic chat shows all night. Bring back "Tomorrow"!

So, are you watching Now Voyager now or just referring to it now?
I just watched Hell House with a very young Bette yesterday. Home with a bad cold, and I cracked out the Bette Davis around 4pm yesterday. I also popped in "Three on a Match" for some pre-code good girl Bette.

That is one of the best lines I have read in a long time, Glebb.
Confession: I love Bette Davis so much I have a purse with her portrait on it and a switchplate with a picture of her from "All About Eve." How sick is that?

They were just showing Now Voyager again on TCM yesterday. Why is it that you can own the DVD of a movie, but when it comes on TV...you stop everything to watch it anyway?
Not many actresses could go from frump to fabulous like Davis could.

I know what you mean justme2!
When it's on TCM, it's like you're watching it with others and wasn't that what it was all about in the beginning?
I miss TCM!
misspennywise, I have no problem with your love for Davis. I even have 'A Stolen Life' on DVD. What is a switchplate? Is it anything like a hipbath?
