I thought this would be a fun thread.
For me it is Disney's The Fox and the Hound and Old Yeller. I can't help it, it's sad I know, but I am secure enough to be able to share. Now let's see if anyone else is.
I know these are cheesy examples but they get me EVERY time.
say what?

Recently, I cried in the last 10 minutes of Big Fish, though I didn't like the rest of the movie and I cried in Return Of The King, too. But the really big sobbers:
Dancer In The Dark
Never Been Kissed
Jerry Maguire
and there are hundreds more but I have just totally drawn a blank. The most bizarre and unexpected crying jag at a film would have to be Pushing Tin.

Legally Blonde
Shrek
Finding Nemo
Scooby Doo
Something's Gotta Give
The Fox and the Hound
I cry at basically every movie I see, at one point or another.
But the biggie was BIG. I've never cried so hard at a movie in my life.

I'm sorry NYCBabe... but Scooby Doo? What's even sad in that?? Unless you mean in the way that I cried after seeing McHales Navy. OhmyGod, I just gave up 2 hours of my life.
I cried at Mr. Holland's Opus, A League of Their Own, and several more. I'm a big wus, I guess. But not big tears... stong manly silent tears.

E.T.
The Way We Were
Cinema Paradiso
All About My Mother
Schindler's List
Ghost
I love a good cry at the movies. But I never see movies where I suspect that a dog is going to die. I love them too much to stand it.
Take care

Wizard of Oz--I make it to where she says "Goodbye" to the scarecrow then I bawl all the way through to the end. 5 hankies.
The Ghost and Mrs. Muir--"And now, My Dear, you will never feel tired again." Again a 4 hankie plus ending.
Father of the Bride--When he gets ready to walk her down the aisle and I think my Dad will never walk me down aisle. 6 hankies
Knightriders-when the king gets hit by the semi. 4 hankies.
Not a movie but POTO when the Phantom is alone at the end. 4 hankies
To name a few. I'm getting blurry eyed just writing this.

Posted: 2/3/04 at 6:41pmI cry at the drop of my hat, but the only movie that has made me cry every time I've seen it is Moulin Rouge. I've probably seen this movie at least 20 times, but I still bawl when Satine's dying, without fail. However, movie that I've cried the hardest at would be Life is Beautiful. 20 minutes after the movie was over, I was still sitting on my couch sobbing with a box of kleenex on my lap.

More obscure that the above: The last 3 minutes of "The Accidental Tourist."
When William Hurt is leaving the French hotel, and drives down the Paris street, sees the boy who reminds him of his dead son ... then looks up out of the cab, sees forlorn Geena Davis, and she slowly beams at him, realizing he's choosing her. Stab of John Williams' exquisite score. I tear up just typing this. Gets me every time--and is that rare moment that is perfectly transferred from the perfect (Anne Tyler) page.

Posted: 2/3/04 at 7:48pmAnyone else deeply shaken by the Kathy Baker character in COLD MOUNTAIN? I don't want to write a detailed spoiler here, but her crisis -- witnessing what happens to her family, as she herself is in held in an most extreme situation -- is up there with SOPHIE'S CHOICE. She has to go on in the movie, truly a hollow women, her eyes empty. Shook me. COLD MOUNTAIN is a movie that's all about the supporting roles, no? Baker, Atkins, Seymour Hoffman, and wonderful Zellweger--normally, not one of my favorites, she is the soul of this cold movie.

DofB5 - I'm glad you mentioned POTO (though it's on-topic, I don't want to forget this question). I have always wondered something.
Why are people so moved by the Phantom? He's a stalking, kidnapping murderer! Why is it so sad that he didn't get the girl that he stalked and kidnapped and tried to seduce? Guys like this get crucified daily on Lifetime movies. He tries to force her to love him and murders people when he doesn't get his way. If Misery was a musical with an Andrew Lloyd Webber score, would everyone feel sorry for Annie Wilkes? It just doesn't make sense to me.
