Ironically, the musical "Wicked" is at the top of the list of music the Mormons are trying to license.

Excellent!
No "good deed" goes unpunished.
Serves them right.
Interesting. A few years ago, I was asked to recommend shows for one of the big bosses at my company for him and his family, who are Mormon, during their trip to NYC. Wicked was at the top of the list of shows they couldn't see. They ended up seeing Beauty & The Beast.
I'm sure it's because just doing ONE song from the show isn't promoting witchcraft, but seeing the whole show would.

Just for the record - Mormon's generally love Wicked, and have no problem watching/reading things with witchcraft.
Also, this boycott concept doesn't sit right with me. I guess every artist has the right to choose who is able to use their music, for any reason, but boycotting an entire group of people, even if they have hurt you, seems so backwards to what we have learned from the past.

I went to BYU years ago for an audio recording seminar. Stan Kenton's Band played and it was recorded. "Stan Kenton at BYU." Lots of producer techie types showed up.
None of the dorms were air conditioned. However they had to air condition the studios and tape rooms for technical reasons.
Let me be the ONE naysayer here and say, FUGIT! License to the Mormons. Hey it's just beeeezness!

"boycotting an entire group of people, even if they have hurt you, seems so backwards"
There is NO WAY to approach that kind of statement with any kind of objectivity whatsoever.
I'll just point out that, as 'members' of the group, they ascribe to the principles and ideologies inherrent. And so, they are as suseptible to reaction as anyone else in the group.
For the record, I'm all for this type of action. Hit'em where it counts.
Thank you for wording that so well Q!

It just seems like if you "Hit the Mormons where it counts" how can you blame the Mormons for "Hitting the LGBT community where it counts."? or visa versa. The whole concept is childish.
If they want to take our rights away so badly, then they deserve everything that's coming to them.
It's about not taking it any more and making a stand.

Very true that people should be held responsible for their actions, and if you can't take the pain don't play the game. I just hope that whenever we try to "teach someone a lesson" we don't hurt ourselves in the process.
More than what they've done to us, and ALL of the other crap they pull?
They need to be taken down.

"how can you blame the Mormons for "Hitting the LGBT community where it counts."?"
Um, because it's an identifiable part of their dogma? Not individually, but collectively - and constantly upheld by their 'elders'?
Childishness, indeed.
