I've already ordered 5 copies. It's all anybody's getting for Christmas.
The duets with Judy are gorgeously engineered, escpecially "Through the Years."
The Sondheim snippet from "Children and Art," telling her kids they would have loved their grandmother makes me sob.
And her "Chicago" and "Come Rain or Come Shine" are thrilling.

Duets with Judy? How do you know who's singing what?

It's gorgeous. The end of the show is a song called "Shining Star," which Lorna sings in counterpoint to Judy singing "Over the Rainbow." When Judy's voice first comes in, the effect is breathtaking, but when the two of them reach the crescendo with Judy singing "Why, oh, why can't I" and Lorna singing "Like a diamond, like a diamond, like a diamond in the sky"--I got chills on my spine.
I just got them describing it.

Joey, I know you are super huge Lorna fan and I do like her, but doesn't the cashing in on Judy thing seem contirved. I dunno, it feels like a gimmick to me. I would have preferred her release an album of new material. Let me be clear in saying, Im not dissing Lorna-I love her-I'm just not a fan of the dead being revived for duets. It's one of my least favorite things. However, the way you describe it sounds like it is done really well. I can't help but think that it seems like a way to sell records.

How is her rendition of "The Man That Got Away". That has to be my all time favorite Judy song right next to "The Trolley Song".

All things being said, I still ordered it. Lorna on CD is too rare indeed. I look forward to getting it. Thanks for the heads-up PJ. I was unaware the CD existed.

Betty--it's called "keeping the legacy alive."
Natalie Cole did it. Mercer and Mercedes Ellington do it. If they're cashing in, more power to them!
All these songs feature the glorious original orchestrations by Nelson Riddle and Mort Lindsay.
And Retro--all I can say is she rises to the occasion with "Man That Got Away"--ballad singing has always been her weak point, but she really wails on this one--but Lorna will always wail the wail of the survivor not the wail of the victim.

I want this and will buy it, but $22.95 for 11 tracks? And Amazon has it listed at $35.99! Why so expensive?!?

Amen! Good for Lorna. She deserves to be heard and she is a thrill to see.

Mama was funny.
Mama was fun.
Mama spent money
When she had none.
Mama said, "Honey,
Mustn't be be blue.
It's not so much do what you like
As it is that you like what you do.."
Those words COULD have been written about and for Judy Garland.

Perhaps it is more affordable on amazon.uk?

"Betty--it's called "keeping the legacy alive."
Betty, it's called 'she's got a voice that will blow the roof off of the place and she'll stomp all over you with it."
I'm not even going into the whole “WW I do if my mother was a ledged...” thing.
