Let's go Devils!
Heh. They beat the Rangers today. Yay.
Let's Go Wings! It took them five full periods to beat the Oilers in game one....but they did! The Wings have got this in the bag....no competition.

Excited about this, even though my team is what you could safely call the opposite of playoff-caliber. They were actually counterproductive this year.
These should be great matchups.
The only series I could see really going in a sweep is Devils-Rangers, based on how both teams have been playing as of late. Now, with Jagr being hurt...
That said, I hope it goes to 5, because I've got a ticket to Game 5. It'll be my first playoff game in 5 years.
You have no idea how thrilled I am that there are NHL fans on here!
I'm following Detroit and Ottawa closely - they're the teams I'm rooting for (now that the Canucks choked this season
)!

I've been a hockey fan longer than I have been a theater fan.
I was the only girl in elementary school wearing a hockey jersey. I used to fight my mother because she'd only let me wear one a week, and I'd have to alternate them.
As I said, my team was counterproductive this year- but I still got NHL Center Ice to watch them lose all the time.
I'm rooting for the Devils (local, plus it's awesome to see Elias playing the way that he is) and the Sabres in the East (they're so underrated). In the west, I'm rooting for Calgary and Edmonton just because they're young teams (and I always like to see a Canadian team make the finals).
Starletta, are you a Canadian too? (If so, that explains the hockey fanship!)
I've been a hockey fan since the Winnipeg Jets were still in existence. (I went to the games, own the jersey, and still call the Coyotes the Phoenix Jets.
) I finally sprung for an ice pak for this Canuck season (and then we...sucked) but I'm hoping we'll get better next year! (As much as I like him, Bertuzzi's a gliding target.)
I should probably show more support to Edmonton and Calgary since they're in my conference, but I'm really just happy that Ottawa's doing so well! (Too bad for the Leafs.)

Tiff, I'm not Canadian by birth. But I've been told by many people that I'd make a good Canadian based on my hockey adoration, academic interests, and politics.
I'm originally from the Pittsburgh area. (Hence the counterproductive comment. The Pens actually worked against Crosby a lot of the time!)
True story: I got into theatre by seeing the Toronto production of Phantom back in the day. Well, we were in Toronto because I wanted to see the HHOF and the Cup for my birthday.
My father asserts that I watched Lemieux's first game, though I was too young to remember. I started watching in the late 80s, just as the Penguins started to get their act together.
As I said, I'm a devout hockey fan. I still am PO'd about Volek's slapper on Barasso in 93. I was stuck on a school field trip (which I wanted to skip just to watch Game 7!) and begged the bus driver to put the game on the radio quietly. That was the first time I cried over sports.
Hey, they are the Jets! And the Colorado Nordiques. Even though we've got 3 local teams here in the NYC metro area, I had to get Center Ice to watch the Pens.
I'm just so happy that there are hockey fans on this board!!! I've been a Flyers fan since I can remember and I'm to excited right now because they just tied the game up and sent it to overtime. We gotta keep this thread up so I can combine my two loves...broadway and hockey!!!!
Not a Canadian, but a HUGE Devils fan, so I am quite happy tonight. I'm also glad there are some hockey fans on this board.
As I type this, Flyers-Sabres are about to start overtime, so I'm going to go watch that.

Mistress!!! I feel like I haven't talked to you in forever. I'm a Rangers fan for this series...I can't stand the Rangers or the Devils...but I hate Jersey just a little more
I hope he's all right as well, although I believe the Devils would win the series with or without him playing.
As someone who's separated their shoulder twice (and had to have surgery to correct the problem), I must say that I am convinced that that is what he did. I've been in that position before and looked just like him. I can also attest to how painful that is. I felt bad for him, because I would never wish a separated shoulder on anyone.
Go Wings! I've been a fan of any Michigan sports team my whole life. (I have to be if I don't want to be kicked out of the house)

I hope everyone caught at least the OTs in the Philadelphia-Buffalo game. Holy cow, that's some hockey.
I had visions of Lindros when Umberger was laid out.
Re:Jagr, at least it's not his yearly playoff groin injury that he sustained when he was in Pittsburgh. The Devils are still playing way too well for the Rangers to be anything other than a minor speedbump in their way.
Starletta...the only thing that the Umberger hit was missing was him spinning through the air...otherwise it was Lindros meets Scott Stevens all over again.
What a game though...unfortunately my team was on the losing side, but as a hockey fan in general, you can't ask for a better game than that!!!!
GO SABRES! What a game! I'm so glad there are other hockey fans on the board.

Thank god Buffalo won.
Thank God! They shouldn't have let that goal in the third period slip by anyway...just so typical!
awww. I feel like I'm the minority.
It was also a clean hit (as were all the Stevens hits).
And I agre, you could not ask for a better game than that Flyers-Sabres tilt. The Flyers losing just makes it all the better!
