Channel 4 is breaking up Chuck and Sue. They will be letting Sue Simmons go. I've watched them since I was a teenager. Another piece of the fabric of the city is gone.

She is the BEST local anchor. I have enjoyed watching her for as long as I can remember. All these other bimbo anchors on local news can't hold a candle to Sue. She's intelligent, witty, friendly and down to earth. I shall miss watching her.

I love Sue, and will miss her. She's just as capable as she ever was, so I hope this is somewhat to her advantage and she can enjoy her retirement with a big severence.

Sue Simmons always seemed drunk to me. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

She made the mistake of getting old when demographics are going in the opposite direction

She will take some time off & be picked up somewhere else ala Kaity Tong or Jodi Applegate.

If age is the issue, then I guess Chuck's getting the boot as well, right? I mean, she and Chuck are the same age according to the internet. If he gets to stay because he's a man, then Sue should heap a sexual discrimination suit on top of the severance.

Given what we know, there would be virtually no chance of her winning such a suit, and it might only make it more difficult for her to find another job. She'll probaby be replaced by a woman, so the sexual discrimination claim would have no support. Plus, her on-air 'F-bomb' would probably give them whatever justification they need. Stations hire and fire all the time, and proving discrimination would be a challenge.

I'm sure NBC's HR is not stupid. Sue is getting paid millions to co-anchor one 22 minute show. I'm sure HR bumped up the stakes telling her that if she wanted a new contract, she would have to put in more hours. At the level she's at there were execs and agents and managers and lawyers all negotiating this out.

I just saw this awful interview with the Goddess Kate Bush on youtube. I suppose only a Kate fan would appreciate the cringeworthy-ness of it, but still.

That, and Sue also popped up on Law and Order SVU a couple weeks back made me bump this thread. Plus it's 1AM and I can't sleep.

What a painful interview! It was Basil Fawlty wrapped in The Onion and coated in Jiminy Glickness, only without a trace of irony. And in 80's biz caz clothes.
