I'm supposed to see American Buffalo that night, but I definitely can swing by for a few chants!
Anyone going to the one at City Hall on Saturday?
(eta -- meanwhile, anybody want to come protest the pentecostals across the street from me? they seem to enjoy having their sevices, which include some of the worst singing i've ever heard, through a loudspeaker on the street that can be heard clearly in my apartment. and they clearly hate the gays, as they told my roommate he was going to hell)

Almost 1400 people have already said on Facebook that they're attending Wednesday's demonstration..
And the list includes many well-known actors.
Back in the late 80s and early 90s, when we used to go to Act-Up demonstrations, there were a lot of cute demonstrators and phone numbers exchanged. I'm just saying. There are worse ways of meeting someone than peaceful resistance...
Check the Yes and Maybe lists.

Already more than 1,000 people verified (not even counting the maybes). If only half that show up, that will still be impressive.

And there are over 1,000 Maybes. (The Maybes are even cuter than the Yeses. Maybe.)

Thanks PJ! I didn't see the earlier post. I wish I could fly in. I have so much work right now that I leave my home when it is dark and I go back when it is dark. I do hope you go.

From the latest press release:
"LGBT activists and their allies will march in protest in front of the Mormon Temple, carrying signs and banners, including a 75-foot banner declaring 'God Loves Gay Marriage.' This was handsewn for the demonstration by veteran activist Gilbert Baker, the creator of the Rainbow Flag, which is the universal symbol of LGBT liberation."

I've got my fingers crossed the Bethesda Fountain angel will fly over to the protest.

From the organizer:
===
"The police know about the protest and have been told to expect a large number. They've given us the sidewalk in front of the Temple and are willing to shut down Columbus Avenue depending on how large the crowd goes.
We're at 1700 yes on facebook, 1200 maybe and another 13,000 have been invited through various mailing lists.
We need folks to come help and make posters on Tuesday night at the LGBT Center on 13th Street between 7th Avenue and Greenwich.
I've arranged for us to have room 410 -- which is on the top floor of the building from 8 - 10 PM. PLEASE invite folks to come and make home-made posters. Gilbert Baker, who is the creator of the rainbow flag, has decided to make a 75 foot banner that says 'God Loves Gay Marriage' -- so we'll have that.
If you could each please bring supplies (poster-board, markers, anything else) -- as a donation to the cause, I'd be so appreciative. I'll pay for the cost of the room -- which is 60 dollars and I'm also paying for our permit for Wednesday night, which is 45 dollars. If anyone would like to donate to those costs, feel free to let me know.

I know some of the guys in the chorus will be there, too.

It wouldn't be a demonstration without the boys from the chorus!
And from the looks of the Yes list on Facebook, it's going to be the pre-half-hour warm-up for every chorus boy on Broadway.
