Reba can still sell out Madison Square Garden though, if I'm not mistaken.

"It also interesting to wonder if Juliette's personality turned out the way it did is because she grew up with a meth head for a mother. "
Right, it's arguably a bit cliche, but she would have had to fend for herself (including, probably, using men to raise her profile and career) from a young age--so it makes sense that she'd have little time for Rayna.

Reba came to Florida last year…a month or two before her show, had to switch venues because there was such high demand. Went from a performing arts center to an arena. Woman still packs the house, not to mention you get your moneys worth. Costumes changes like crazy, flying scenery, etc. I'm done standing up for my icon now :).

I thought I had posted in this thread, but I don't see it if I did. I loved this show! I think it's a really good cast, and I loved Jonathan Jackson as Lucky on GH so it's nice to see him in prime time. Hopefully his role is a little bigger than it was in the pilot.

I assume his role is bigger--ABC aired special ads during Gen Hospital last week all focused on Jackson being on it (kinda amusing if you know the behind the scees details about his firing after he was re-hired on it and the money issues).

Last night's episode was so good! With every line and irritated glance she makes, I build up the shrine to worship Connie Britton a little bit more. Her performance is a gay man's paradise.
This is the type of show I wish I was watching on DVD because I can't handle waiting for next week's episode.

I like it, just not sure how I feel about the singing. It sounds tooooooo fake.

I wish I could watch this because I've been to Nashville many times and have friends who live there.
But it broadcasts at the same time as Eastenders and I can't leave Walford now because Dot is about to go in for cancer treatment.

I don't mind the singing too much- I usually have such an aversion to country music, and the fact that I'm not only getting through the music, but enjoying it, they must be doing something right.

Ouch! Ratings dropped 29% from last week and it is the best new reviewed show on television.

The episode last night was so good. I'm sad that it had such a severe rating drop from last week. Hopefully it will pull back up. Connie Britton's performance alone is worth tuning in for.
My favorite line was, "She's got about 500 miles worth of nerve."

I wonder if, when 666 Park Avenue is cancelled, it may work better following Revenge.

I just saw the ratings...This makes me sad. Luckily the reviews have been so good that this show is almost guaranteed a full season, but a 2.0 in the second episode isn't a good omen.

There was a baseball game between the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals on Fox that was supposed to air earlier but was rain delayed and didn't air until 10:05. I don't follow baseball but maybe that could explain the slump...not entirely but at least partially.

The Cardinals Giants game could have played a role, but FOX didn't know what to do with their lineup due to the rain delay and it was hard to tell when the game was going to resume. I bet many people gave up on it.
Wynbish- Changing nights for almost every program means immediate ratings death. This might not be the best time slot, but I hope they leave it be and focus on building the audience on Wednesday night.

It finally hit me, Nashville is ABC's "Smash". Pretty much mirrors it.

Except it doesn't... Unless you mean that it's a soap opera take on a real industry--and both industries involve music and feature original music?
I hope that the success so far of the music on iTunes (and Telescope just went to country music) will help convince ABC to keep with it. I'm sure they'll give it a huge push during their Country Music Awards. (I am with Whizzer, btw--I am NOT a country music fan--my main issue is that twangy singing--but I've actually been enjoying the music).
Speaking of Telescope--I loved that Rayna's daughters sang it at the talent show in tonight's episode--and she seemed oblivious...

Man, I am FROM Nashville, have spent many an hour backstage at the Opry and couldn't get through the first five minutes of this show.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!

Count me in as someone who is not a country music fan at all- but is enjoying the music on the show. It kind of crosses over into another genre. Brilliant move on their part.
I'm also loving that there's lots of soap, some good acting, and of course the original music. In those ways, the show does mirror Smash.

"Man, I am FROM Nashville, have spent many an hour backstage at the Opry and couldn't get through the first five minutes of this show."
So maybe this is more of a SMash mirror than I admitted. :P If people "in the know" can't get past the unrealities.
It was driving me crazy why the actor playing Deacon seemed so familiar. I knew he had a major role on Big Love, but never watched that... Chip Esten was on some of the UK, and a lot of the US versions of Who Line is it Anyway (and was one of their main singing comedians, not to mention a crush of mine). Too weird.

Smash:
Ivy Lynn: The veteran, crazy talented, some successful, past her prime, has family issues.
Karen Cartwright: New girl, raw talent, vets don't like her, seems everything is just handed to her. Issues with her parents not being supportive.
Nashville:
Rayna: The veteran, crazy talented, somewhat successful, past her prime, has family issues.
Juliet: New girl, raw talent, vets don't like her, seems everything is handed to her. Issues with mom being an addict.
Both set in unrealistic versions of different areas of the entertainment industry.
