So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

Well, there's always room around the totem.

We,do, of course have strict religious beliefs about the prevalent role of Satan in Wicked. However, we are actually on the pro-Satan side.

The very existence of this thread perpetuates the canard that there are indeed "BWW gods."

And Orion's post itself glorifies the Cult of Mystery that some posters seem to need.

Such self-dramatization is, in the end, simply masturbation of the ego.

There are no BWW gods. All posters are equal.

"The funny thing is, what DG was originally referring to really didn't have to do with Corine's column. It had to do with the esoteric drive-by potshots taken at her expense in virtually any topic, many of which don't have to do with her column at all."

Unfortunately, Mr. Matt, you read DG's edited post. His original post, much of which is no longer there, clearly indicated that what set him off were comments which alluded to Corine and her writing in the CoD thread. So that originally *was* part of the topic. But since Corine has made it clear that she didn't want this discussion occurring, and since DG edited out his more specific references, I'm not going to belabor the point other than to say that I think your "blaming the victim" a la The Accused analogy here is *way* off the mark. Everywhere one turns Corine is blatantly self-shilling her website, posting unedited interviews, asking for feedback, and starting threads about her latest site updates...calling attention to it in every possible way on this and another theater-related message board. If that irks people who find the quality of her work lacking, that hardly makes her the innocent victim when they comment on it.

All posters are indeed equal - but their posting practices are not. And neither is the offical or unofficial response to them.

One comment about the whole 'don't take it so seriously' thought. Just from my perspective, the frustration and anger that flares here is pretty much shown here because this is where it's caused. I think some people have the impression that this is all there is to the entirety of someone's existence. If I'm taking the time to spend here, and something is upsetting or disturbing, then this is where the reaction gets shown. That doesn't mean that my life has been affected, it means that my time here has - and if that wasn't important to me, I wouldn't show up in the first place.

I'm one of the people who said don't take it seriously, and I have had the experience to back it up. In my early days of posting on message boards, I took everything personally and seriously. Why? because I was being myself in my posts, never lying, never pretending to be anyone else (which a lot of people do on boards). So if someone insulted me or was rude, I would take it as a personal insult and carry it around with me all day long. Who needs that? I learned to laugh it off and only look at message boards as a place to have fun.

DG-
Your intent was a good one. Certain people on this site seem to be intent on making me look bad. It is really quite interesting that they care that much. In fact, it is very strange.
If I post once a month on Broadwayworld to tell someone about an update, I don't think that is obsessive shilling.
I will say this one last time. If you don't like my site, fine.
If you do, you can write to me there.
There are a lot of things I don't like, the difference, I don't waste my time talking about it.
Something to think about.

Just to clarify a point, DG. When I made reference to Nina, it had nothing to do with tracking down identity. I was trying to make an analogy to what is happening here.

I think we all know that the complaints of elite cliques can be translated to "Namo or Papa ignore me and I'm upset."

Is it a coincidence that this all started when, once again, some specualtion came up about Namo?

People want to be befriended by the people rumored to be Tony Kushner or Chita Rivera or who are just celebrities in their own right, on this board. When they are ignored by Namo, Nina Papa or whomever, they get hurt and upset and make claims of elite cliques.

You, myself and lots of other people were considered part of an elite clique at one time. However, being in the midst of it, you realize it is not an elite group trying to exclude. You also realize that the actions of person from whom others want attention has nothing to do with your actions, who you befriend or how you treat people.

So, I was surprised that this whole thing even started from a thread by someone who is wrongly seen as part of an elite clique.

DG, Just. Stop. It.
No, I won't 'just stop it' - if the thread isn't going to be deleted as I requested, then I'm going to respond when I am questioned.

I for one believe you knew exactly what you were doing when you created your original unedited post.
Yes, I had an intention - identical to one of iflit's the other day. She chose to address it right there in the thread, I chose to start this one so as not to derail the celebrity thread.

I for one believe this thread was created as another one of your "give me attention" posts, this time under the guise of defending Corine while attacking one or two other posters.
You're not the first to bring something like this up, and I'm never sure how to answer. It seems to me that every post on the board is in some way looking for attention, either for the individual themself or for some idea they're sharing. And honestly, my intent in addressing the Corine issue was more about sparing the rest of us the constant barrage of snide remarks all over the place than it was about defending her. She just happened to be the one that engenders this obssession.

I for one believe Corine has an right to shill her website equal to those who may choose to criticize her for it, or those who may choose to make her, or her website, the butt of their jokes. I for one believe Corine loves the attention.
On this we agree - although, I would also say that if Corine has the right to promote herself, and others have the right to respond with the wide-spread sarcasm as they do, then I or anyone else has the right to say they don't like that.

I for one believe your cry criticizing cliques on this board is phoney baloney, coming from you.
I didn't criticize cliques. I took issue with the constant allusion to Namo's identity because 1) it's ostensibly against his wishes to be identified, and 2) the comments that were being made could serve no purpose than to snidely say 'I know something you don't' - which I don't associate with clique behavior, I associate with rude individual behavior. Curiously, you don't seem to think that comments like those are attention-seeking grabs?

I for one believe your online personna became tiresome and disingenuous long-ago.
I know you feel that way, Jose'. Conversely, my feelings about your online persona in no way match the wonderful things that people say about you in off-board relationships. I guess we just don't 'click' in this realm. I generally try to just avoid the direct confrontation with you, as I thought we were both aware of how we felt.

And being relatively new around here, I thought that Corine was in on the joke, and enjoyed the playful teasing about her website. Under that assumption, I contributed to a recent thread about a slogan contest for the site. If I offended her in any real way, I apologize. My intention is not to demean or belittle anyone. I'll leave that to others who have far more practice and are much better at it than myself.

SOMMS - the fact is, Jose' and I are probably just too much alike, with the exception of his greater traditional education and urban lifestyle.

Orion - I don't even view the 'pariahs in the snake-pit' as a group - they've always been very strong and independent to my mind. They may share a history here, but I've never really perceived any real attempt to provide a unified front just for the sake of sticking together. I've had communication with everyone, although, usually only about very specific things. On the whole, I've always recognized that I'm a little too flighty and vague to really connect with such obviously grounded perspective. And hopefully, my address of the Namo situation in Jose's post answered your question.

Now let's all hold hands and sing.....

I'd like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees and snow-white turtle doves

I'd like to teach the world to sing
In perfect harmony
I'd like to hold it in my arms and keep it company
I'd like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills "Ah, peace throughout the land"

(That's the song I hear)
I'd like to teach the world to sing (that the world sings today)
In perfect harmony
