So, where do YOU fit in within the BWW hierarchy?
Are you someone who has decided that another poster is an idiot, and therefore worth mocking in any and every thread posted on this site?
Are you someone that actually KNOWS who another poster is? Are you someone who actually cares?
Have you been here from the beginning, and feel that your connection and awareness of the others elevates you in some way?
Edited to remove personal names, personal comments and badly worded question.

I think you are going to catch flak for this but I totally with you DG.
(I have not seen this in the Celeb thread though, I have not been there for a bit.)
I am merely one of the masses, trying not to worship at anyone's alter. Except of course for Tiff, SP and Patronus.
*Stalks and then pounces on YouWantitWhen???? and mauls her. Then positions self over the carcass and postures, bristling and growling at anyone who comes near, and sometimes partaking of the sweet meats of his quarry.*

Smart - I considered the flak, believe me. And then I thought of who it might be coming from, and how their voice has been diminished be their ridiculousness, and decided that I just don't care. I really am sick of reading this nonsense - even if it does seem to resonate with only a handful.
It just confuses me. I can not understand why it is necessary, or if the people even find it funny.
Am I the nicest person here? No, of course not. I am opinionated and callous at times. But I try to give others a chance.
This situation you talk of seems to be pure mean spiritedness.
DG - was there any particular post in the celebrity thread that prompted this. I don't disagree with you, just curious. It did not seem to be any different than usual. I have pretty much camped out on the Oscar stuff tonight.
Edited to add reference to Celebrity Thread.

"I refuse to sully (further) the celebrity thread which has caused this reaction within me."
This was the statement I made, so I'll stick with that. It's really this 'clubby' feeling that I just don't get. If you don't feel that something is of merit, fine - but WHY constatntly use it as the butt of jokes? I can't for the life of me figure out what Corine's awful crime is. And if it's all a joke that she's in on, I can't understand how those of us 'out of the loop' are supposed to react to it. And I'll NEVER get why threads that have absolutely NOTHING to do with her are used as an opportunity to reference those judgements.
It is not just Corine. For some groups here there is a "culture of exclusion" that is a fascinating study in group dymanics.
Some people are apparently apt targets for derision, through no measure of their actions. (Or maybe based on some past action 90% of us know nothing about.)

I agree, Penguin - the Corine reference is just what drove me to start the thread.
I TRY to take it all in stride, as the 'study in group dynamics' that you allude to. But, honestly, it takes away from and cheapens the benefits I want to get from the very people who insist on perpetuating this nonsense.
I don't understand the whole Corine thing either. I just try to ignore the threads and move one. She is either a willing participant, or someone who really does not care, as long as she gets word out about her site.
Some of the stuff spewed on here (occasionally be me, I must admit) is not in the best taste, but I try not to personally attack someone without first being attacked by them.

I agree with that as well DG.
Although I must say, I have never gained much from those particular individuals.
There are some folks that I actively try to avoid - because I have no idea what will come out of their mouths - er, keyboards, and usually, do not want to be associated with some of it.
On another note completely, anyone know when Rath is coming back?

Honestly, it causes confusion on my part - because they're obviously people with real intelligence, and real perspectives. I just don't get the motivation. But I'm that way with MANY people I encounter in life
As to Rath - she continues to exist, and will communicate with those she feels comfortable with outside this maelstrom.
Ok. I am now worried this thread may become something else.

Smart - you're not the first to feel that way, trust me Rath had/has a distinct persona here, and people either resonated with it and participated, or they didn't. And frequently, she designated that path without any kind of discussion or input from anyone else.
Again, you either participated or you didn't. Obviously, there were some here who chose not to - and made that choice a visible focus of their interaction here.
The cryptic nature of your last comment, combined with it being 3AM makes it imposible to understand what you meant there DG.
YWIW? I don't even understand that much negativity. I try to treat everyone the same on principle and simply react to how they treat me.
To a great extent, so do I, with special dispensation for a few who by experience have demonstrated that they are no longer worth the effort. I also do value and respect what you, Patronus, your respective spouses, Tiff, Elphaba, DG and others have to say, because many of you are so better versed on issues of theater and general entertainment. And, I feel like I know you, at least a litle bit, but now.
Off to bed soon.

YWIW??- please don't listen to me. I have no idea what I am talking about most of the time.
I am flattered though.
SP - I will be sure to remove the earpods next time you come one during the podcast. Thanks for the warning. Typing post Ambien injestion is quite a challenge! I keep thinking my golf clubs are coming to life!
Have a good evening all.

Smart - that's a problem I fall into regularly because of my difficulty with direct confrontation - I simply don't want to address individuals by name and invite identifiable quarrels. Since I am such a regular reader of the boards in their entirety, I figure people either know what I'm referring to or they don't - which comes scarily close to the situation I'm decrying, I realize
I just think there are some here who continue to post with what seems to be a disdain for the whole scenario in general - and I just don't get it - what's the point?
Indeed.
I understand DG.
So, where do YOU fit in within the BWW hierarchy? I have no idea.
Are you someone who has decided that Corine is an idiot, and therefore worth mocking in any and every thread posted on this site? No. I don't believe I have ever posted about anyone in any and every thread.
Are you someone that actually KNOWS who Namo is? Are you someone who actually cares? No.
Have you been here from the beginning, and feel that your connection and awareness of the others elevates you in some way? No.
Do you allow your private experience to override what is presented on the board for all to see? No. Do I have friendships in real life which influence my posts? Yes. But do I present myself differently because of them? Absolutely not.
I don't know what my answers will tell you, but there you have it.

No, but I play one on TV. (and most of my threads are never responded to anyways)
