In so many ways...
Our prayers go to the people of the beautiful city of New Orleans.
Too bad we don't have a president who cared enough to cancel his summer vacation and rush to Washington to coordinate relief efforts. Just as he did on 9/11, he's hiding out, scared and totally lacking in inspiration and leadership.

Look at him sitting there in Crawford, trying to figure out how the hell he's going to send the National Guard in when he's already sent them all to Iraq.
Any other president would HAVE a National Guard for just such emergencies, to help with evacuation efforts, to help airlift people out, but Bush can't do that, because he's depleted the military and $400 billion on a bunch of lies.

Posted: 8/28/05 at 11:59pmI have two brothers and their families who have evacuated to Dallas. One of them lives across the lake in Abita Springs; the other lives in the lower garden district in 150-year-old house. They are fearing the worst.

That picture was never funny...
How long before the next election?

millions of dollars of federal relief is what wins elections
i personally think if you want to live in Flordia (since it's hit the most often) you should have to sign a release saying that you wont accept federal funds because you're so effing stupid to live there

Contrary to the post above, Bush is NOT attending to the hurricane-relief efforts.
He's flying to Arizona to push his prescription-drug program on senior citizens.
He made drastic cuts in federal relief funds and reduced FEMA to being a minor part of Homeland Security, so whatever he does to help out in this hurricane is already less than other presidents.
And then again...

PalJoey, 75% of your posts, are ALWAYS bashing Bush.
When can we give it a rest? Perhaps joining an internet forum that specializes in talks of politics is the place for you.

Yes. it's off topic and I don't usually read them.
But instead of making a thread out of sympathy for these poor people suffering from this storm - you make it a bash Bush thread. Really what's the point?

Very funny, SOMMS
The point, ljay, is that this is an item of national interest, and ties into what the leader of the nation is doing about it. You may not agree with the perspectives given, but it is a viable point of discussion under the circumstances. This thread is clearly labled as having a political bent, and there are more than one thread dedicated to showing support and sympathy for the people directly affected by this occurrance.

papa - I appreciate the effort, but I'm afraid it is wasted - you know I'm a pacifist.
