"I hate to be like this, but instead of arguing about who's fault things are, I think ya'll need to ask yourselves what have you done to help these poor people out?"
I don't think you should hate to be like that at all.
Well, I for one fully intend to sit on my spoiled, lazy ass and do absolutely nothing.
I usually start here, LaVieBoheme3090, even though I have problems with some of their homophobic policies. But they help victims directly. If anyone knows a similarly efficient organization that is more gay-positive, I'll give to them too.

If you're serious, duly noted.
If you're joking, VERY poor taste.
Thank you Dgrant
I'm simply driving in the nail for "lavie"

mjr - if you think I'm going to feel bad because you think I'm a stick in the mud for finding your thoughts and posts disgusting, you're sadly mistaken. I DO believe there are boundaries - even in this void of cyberspace. Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you the poster with two brothers who managed to find refuge in Texas? May I assume that if it were your relatives stuck on a roof in the dark that your attitude might be different?
If I COULD build a bridge right now, I would - to help some people survive. And I wouldn't mind using your 'spoiled, lazy ass' bones to build it.

You are a gay man who votes republican? Wow Greg! What are you thinking? This is a party who has powerful figures in it equating gays with acts of bestiality and incest. This is a party who believes you are not worthy of the civil rights your fellow straight Americans take for granted. Why would you vote for a party that hates you?
Before you respond, we know Clinton signed the defense of marriage act.

Oh, I love it!
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't you the poster with two brothers who managed to find refuge in Texas?"
- Consider yourself corrected. That wasn't me.

You should take a look at yourself, 'cause you've got quite a bit of crazy on your face right now.......wow.

Oh, so a terrified closeted gay man who overcompensated by becoming a very conservative Republican? Wow, there's a narrative we've never heard before!!!! EVER.
Oh, I see. Any male at the age of 33 dealing with "issues that he should have dealt with 15 years ago" is automatically a "closeted gay may"? What are you, some kind of homophobic Neanderthal???
Want to guess again?
I don't have to wear my sexuality on my sleave like a badge of honor, but try this....I am happily married to a great woman, trapped in a very lucrative profession and family business that was forced up on me by my awesome, loving but grossly overbearing father. I have more money then I could have ever imagined, I hate what I do for living and am finally getting out of it. I am also secure enough in myself to say that I have been on both sides of fence sexually...I enjoyed both, and was luck to find the love of my life.
And Namo - you have testicular fortitude to talk about "my rigid world"...your world is as myopic as a gnat's ass.
Maybe you could explain to me where I've even talked about my "World Views"?
I guess there's no room in your vast world for conservative straight married men, or even a gay conservative Just how much room is in your world Namo...do you have any tolerance for differing opinions????
NOTICE - Just in case it gets too crowded in FindingNAMO's vast and ever expanding world, please know there's plenty of room in my world. Like I said before, someone is considered a friend based upon how they treat me, not because they think like me.
Diversity of opinions and people is what makes the world a much better place.

That's it PALJOEY...why have to think for yourself, when you can follow someone else.
The trouble with following someone else is, what if they're wrong???

mjr - I said 'correct me if I'm wrong' precisely because I wasn't sure. If it wasn't you, so be it.
And again, if you think I'm crazy because I find your attitude revolting, well then again, so be it.
All of Congress has been on vacation for the past month as well, not just the President.
"Diversity of opinions and people is what makes the world a much better place"
Agreed, but support for George Bush, does not.
Greg, obviously you are entitled to hold whatever political views you wish, but since you've apparently been here only a week, let me tell you that like many of us on these boards, I have been moved to new levels of sadness, shame, anger and despair as a result of the current administration.
So, expect some serious (and emotionally heightened) questioning of your beliefs on this, the off-topic board if you intend to identify yourself as a "proud, conservative republican."
As for being gay or not - don't do us any favors...

greg what I'd like to know is does your male love of your life deserve less than the female love of your life?

Well, you taught me something I didn't know about Clinton.
As for being gay, I'm not. Read my previous post. Secondly, I don't agree with ever member of the Republican party...Pat Robertson especially! I find him to be repugnant. I truly believe the man has some mental disfuction.
Gay marriage...I support it 100%
There is intolerence on both sides. Just look at this thread. FindNamo thought I was gay too...but that's not enough to be in his club...I needed to be gay and a card carrying liberal Bush-hater like NAMO. Once he realizes that I am straight and conservative, he's really going to hate me.
The only difference between FindingNAMO and Pat Robertson is their politcal party...spewing hatred or intollernce for my opinions is no different than Pat Robertson saying the crap he says about homosexuality. Now, that doesn't mean Namo isn't allowed to disagree with me or my opinions...its all in the discourse.

Where did you state your sexual preference? You tlaked about a wife and then the love of your life and about both sides of the fence.
Confusing.

Agreed, but support for George Bush, does not.
But why? You mean to say if your mother, father or brother or sister was a Bush-supporter, you would no longer have tolerance for them??
I don't agree with many things this President has done; but I have agreed with him more often then not. I am sure that's no different for you with President Clinton.
Greg, obviously you are entitled to hold whatever political views you wish, but since you've apparently been here only a week, let me tell you that like many of us on these boards, I have been moved to new levels of sadness, shame, anger and despair as a result of the current administration.
I certainly don't want to be your cause for sadness or anger. I really just like to have civil debate. As a few others have told me, this is no place to announce that you are a conservative. To quote one person "stay in the closet".
So, expect some serious (and emotionally heightened) questioning of your beliefs on this, the off-topic board if you intend to identify yourself as a "proud, conservative republican."
This is fair, so long as no one takes it personally, and you take it as well as dish it out.
As for being gay or not - don't do us any favors...
Not sure what you mean here, and I didn't realize that you were empowered to speak for "us". Whoever "us" is???

I said to you in a private message that my best friend who died on 9/11 was more than a friend, he was like a brother, an uncle, a father, a soulmate and that we were as close as two men could be without having a sexual relationship. Is it so wrong for two men to be so close? I don't think so. I am very sentimental about this. I was the last person he spoke to on that horrible day. When he called, my wife handed me the phone and said "its the love of your life". I rarely referee to him by his name, but by "the love of my life". I was on the phone with him when the phone went dead. The last thing he said was, "I love you more than you will ever know".
I didn't think I mentioned sexual perference. It was assumed that I was gay, based upon my comments about dealing with some issues now, that I should dealt with 15 years ago, when I was 18 or 19. I clarified it later and said it was being forced into a family owned business and having to run my family's business. I hated it, never wanted to do it. I always wanted to be in music theater. I am getting vocal lessons, I read music and play piano...I will take some acting lessons. I am going to give it my best. Time and money are not a problem. I actually want to produce, but before I start losing lots of money, I need to learn the business.

The Red Cross is the best way to support the hurricane victims.
Having said that....
This is from the Red Cross web site for guidelines for donating blood.
HIV, AIDS
You should not give blood if you have AIDS or have ever had a positive HIV test, or if you have done something that puts you at risk for becoming infected with HIV.
You are at risk for getting infected if you:
are a male who has had sexual contact with another male, even once, since 1977
Since chita has complained about the bias against him, I'll take this opportunity to post the ones that have a bias against me.
You are at risk for getting infected if you:
-were born in, or lived in, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea,Gabon, Niger, or Nigeria, since 1977.
-since 1977, received a blood transfusion or medical treatment with a blood product in any of these countries, or
-had sex with anyone who, since 1977, was born in or lived in any of these countries.

Man, Greg, you're just a Freudian nightmare. Your "soul mate?!"
"I am also secure enough in myself to say that I have been on both sides of fence sexually...I enjoyed both, and was luck to find the love of my life."
Yeah yeah yeah. It's not your job and being forced into the family business that is making you miserable. You're a stark raving homo and you're allegedly wealthy or at least a wealthy wannabe who feels that if you hang out with the winning "team" you'll be like the winning team.
But honey, no amount of cash or wailing about how difficult your life is will EVER be dealt with until you deal with your Friend of Dorothyhood.
So, how does the Little Mrs. feel about your having enjoyed sex on "the other side of the fence?" Does she get turned on by your stories? Do you hook up anonymously with guys and then come home and tell her about it? Or do you keep that special secret locked away inside you?
Also, how much work have you done within your Republican party to advocate for gay marriage? What have you actually done? Ever make a few phone calls, we all know how connected you "very conservative" "wealthy" types are, and tell them what you think? Ever throw any of your hard earned cash in that direction?
And please, do NOT throw the word "tolerance" around. It's SO Fox News when coming from the mouth of somebody like you.
