The stabbing of 39-year-old Teresa Butz has sent shock waves through her neighborhood, where about 400 people packed the South Park Community Center Monday night and heard police describe her slaying as "one of those types of crimes that tears at the fabric of a community."
Butz was stabbed along with her partner, a 36-year-old woman who was released Monday from Harborview Medical Center.

Awful.
This is so sickening! Many prayers and good thoughts to the family.
How awful...regardless of who her brother is.
How awful. So sorry to hear of this.
I posted a thread about this last night that was deleted--not sure why.
My thought and prayers go out to the family.
There is reason to suspect a hate crime because of the ferocity of the the attack, which the Seattle police chief has called "the most brutal crime he and his officers have seen in some time."
They have already ruled out robbery as a motive. Such brutality is usually seen only in a crime of passion--or a hate crime.
I cannot imagine the anguish Teresa's family and the family of her partner are going through. Her partner survived the attack and provided police with enough information to create a sketch of the assailant.
Let us pray they catch him before he acts again.
What a horrible, horrible story.
Oh, that's just horrible. What is wrong with people?

As I said before on PJ's thread, I can't imagine how the surviving partner will face the future. Being attacked in your own home in the middle of the night, and losing the love of your life in the process. Ultimate violation. I honestly don't know if I could cope.
Peace to all those affected.
Wow. I know hate like this exists, but it still boggles my mind every time I read about it.
And there is still a thread Eddie started late yesterday afternoon on the Main board.

It's frightening how many sick people are walking the streets. This is so disgusting to hear-I'm so sorry for all those who are now without Ms. Butz.
Horrible story. So sad.

Sometimes I don't know whether to be angry or sad. Sometimes I'm both - this is one of those times.
My thoughts, sympathy, and prayers for strength go out to the families of both victims.
A true horror story. I wish Norbert and his family the strength to love and support each other through this trouble. G*d Bless.
This is the very reason I now carry mace and a tazer.
This is just tragic.

I carry mace and a Tazber too. You just can't be too prepared.
It's better to have him and not need him, than to meed him and not have him.
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
edit - Just realizing it's probably inappropriate to be laughing in this thread. Damn you, Diva and your witticisms.
I'm picturing Joe carrying this Mase AND tazber, one on top of the other, and wearing a really long trench coat.
Yes, highly inappropriate.

Oh my goodness- pardon my highly inappropriate typo. I meant Tazer, of course.

There is a candlelight vigil tonight at 7:30pm at the South Park Community Center in Seattle.
Sending love and positive energy to all those impacted....so horribly tragic and sad. Unthinkable.

I really hope that, with the information gathered, they catch this man.
