Dick Cheney's heartlessness is his defining quality.

Roscoe,

I have done a good job of biting my lips but I can't do that any more. If you actually are convinced that Obama is a bigot just because he doesn't believe in what you believe and isn't doing what you want him to do then your a friggen moron.

You have to understand that your argument stops holding water and making any valid points the second you resort to using phrases like bigot etc. Sadly for you you did that at the get go with the first post in this thread. Therefor the entire time you have yet to make a logical mature argument as to why you disagree with the man. And, yes, by my point what i said earlier in this post doesn't hold that much water as well and should not be considered valid either. I am okay with that.

Goodness gracious, Winston. At least spellcheck: the word is "frigging" not "friggen."

And you are quite simply wrong. My calling Obama a "bigot" does not negate the validity of my points about him. But if you insist on warm friendly terms, here it is again, with slightly different terminology:

"What you continue to avoid noticing is Obama's oft-stated stance against same-sex marriage, and the explicit WARM TENDER SWEETNESS of such a position. There can be no two ways about it -- once again, Barack Obama explicity supports discrimination against gays."

There Winston. Is that presented in a way that you can understand? Barack Obama clearly loves gays, which makes his ongoing and oft-stated support of discrimination against gays so warm and sweet and happymaking!

You can't follow a discussion, write, spell or construct a single sentence that forms a logical thought, but Roscoe is somehow the moron here?

shhhh, blue. winston is by the very nature of his posting here the single greatest force for good and righteuousness that he's ever known. except maybe for obama who loves the gays. loves 'em. now can both of you please move quietly to the back of the thread while winston explains how obama will cure AIDS with a smile and a hearty handshake.

blueroses,

It's a goddamn message board. Not an essay contest. I never read in the rules of this forum that all posts must be in MLA format.

It is clear that Roscoe is immature and doesn't fully understand what is going on. If he were he would understand that the choice of letting same sex couples is not up to Obama. Rather it is up to each individual state. Even if Obama told the states what to do in terms of letting same sex couples get married, they could still say no thanks we want to do it our way. And, that wouldn't be any violation of the law.

Dear Winston. Dear Dear Winston.

No one thinks that Obama has it within his power to make gay marriages legal. The problem is that Mr. Obama is personally opposed to same sex marriage. He has said so repeatedly. This is not news. That is what is going on, and you are the one who keeps not seeing it.

Again. We are clearly not going to convince each other on this issue. Moving on to other matters.

And by the way, OBAMA IS A BIG FAT HOMOPHOBIC BIGOT.

I am not saying that I wanted you to spell it out for me. I got the point of what you were saying. The point that I was trying to make is that by starting out with a harsh comment does not make people want to listen to you. Obama does not believe in gay marriage and that is his right. But he is in favor of civil unions so I don't think it is totally fair to call him a bigot. If he didn't believe in that then it might be okay to call him a bigot and even that might be a strech

Frank Rich hits the bulls-eye, yet again.

"The most common rationale for his current passivity is that his plate is too full. But the president has so far shown an impressive inclination both to multitask and to argue passionately for bedrock American principles when he wants to. Relegating fundamental constitutional rights to the bottom of the pile until some to-be-determined future seems like a shell game.

As Wolfson reminds us in his book
Why Marriage Matters, Dr. King addressed such dawdling in 1963. "For years now I have heard the word Wait, King wrote. It rings in the ear of every Negro with piercing familiarity. This Wait has almost always meant Never."

The gay civil rights movement has fewer obstacles in its path than did Dr. King?s Herculean mission to overthrow the singular legacy of slavery. That makes it all the more shameful that it has fewer courageous allies in Washington than King did. If ?American Idol? can sing out for change on Fox in prime time, it ill becomes Obama, of all presidents, to remain mute in the White House.

And it continues, folks. Obama's Justice Department has just defended DOMA on economic grounds, and says that DOMA doesn't discriminate against gays because we can get married whenever we want, as long as it is members of the opposite sex.

The link below is being constantly updated with fresh insights into the latest batch of hideous insults Barack Obigot's administration is heaping upon us.

It hasn't even been a year of Obama in office yet. Furthermore, Why would Obama make a statement that would end up damaging his carrier and is about something that he has no control over? Gay marriage is and has been a state issue. Obama being for or against it for that matter makes no difference on what the states themselves do on the issue. Obama making some sort of statement saying that he is for it will not make the state's process of voting move any faster. So, I see no logic in you being against Obama or calling him a bigot.

Yes, he may be against it but it shouldn't matter. It is not like he has the power to do anything about it anyway and to call him a bigot about that is a bit over the top and extreme. If you want an example of someone who was in the news recently and is a bigot look at the guy who shot up the Holocaust Museum in DC. That is a good example of a bigot. Not Obama.

And you do realize blueroses that Obama not being in favor of gay marriage but rather civil unions is not news. He has stated that since he was on the trail. So don't act that this is all new. And, yes, I do realize that DOMA is national.

The point that I am trying to make is that people shouldn't act too shocked that Obama is saying these things. He has said things like this from the get go so I don't see why anyone is shocked.

I think that people are not happy with Obama because they saw from the get go what they wanted in him. And, when he did not deliver that particular vision of himself that people had, they got angry.

And, yes, I do realize that DOMA is national.
So, why should straight marriage be a federal statute and not gay marriage?
