Siny is absolutely right (as is Obama) that the Debt Ceiling has absolutely nothing to do with "BORROWING MORE MONEY" as the OP inflames. It is either ignorant or willful misunderstanding of the debt ceiling, the sort of irresponsibility that defines the GOP as we head into this fateful October.
The Debt Ceiling is an artificial flashpoint at which the U.S. would default on its currently-held obligations. It is not in any way influential on the existence (or accruing) of American debt, but it is incredibly important to the full faith and credit of the U.S. Dollar, the global economy, and international monetary policy.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
