Obama Says Borrowing More Money Will Not Increase The Deficit???

Obama recently made a ridiculous statement - even for him

His latest whopper is that by increasing the debt ceiling allowing the government to continue to borrow money to pay its bills it does not increase the deficit.

Warren Buffett predicted Obamacare would fail because Obama should have tackled rising costs first before tackling universal coverage. Buffet is one of his biggest supporters. The GOP should fund it and than let it collapse under its own weight. People are finding out it is a big Ponzi scheme that will collapse if all younger people do not buy into it. Since there is no bar on pre existing conditions they will wait until the get sick and than sign up. The penalty is so miniscule as to that it is basically toothless.

whenever my credit card hits the limit, i just get another one and use that to pay it off! and when that gets used up i get another to pay that one off .....

Obama is absolutely right. Raising the debt ceiling allows us to pay expenses that have already been incurred. The deficit goes up when those expenses are incurred, not when we pay for them. Refusing to raise the debt ceiling is like running up your credit card bills and then refusing to pay them. Which is something the GOP is very good at.

Joe perhaps roxy is busy and not huddled around his computer or phone? Maybe he's even getting laid!

I'm taking this issue rather personally right now, I know.

I am currently unemployed, and as a 50 year old who has had some health problems, my only option was continuing my previous employer's coverage: A not great package that I currently pay $770 a month for. (Just to put that in perspective, my unemployment is less than that.) I tried to shop around but policies that you can currently buy do not cover existing conditions and usually are cripplingly high deductibles. I've contacted my state insurance office and they think that I'd be able to get a policy comparable to my current policy for about half what I'm paying $360 a month after January 1, when the "insurance exchanges" open.

In addition, while unemployed (and living on $163 a week in unemployment insurance) I'd be eligible for government credits that would completely cover my premiums. But of course, Republicans are doing all they can to prevent that. In fact, they voted today to stop "Obamacare" for the 40th time. I remember when Republicans blamed economic problems on "The uncertainty" that taxes might go up for the wealthiest Americans. You don't know uncertainty until you sit down with a stack of bills, a teeny amount of money and a political party hell-bent on turning out the one glimmer of light you can see at the end of the tunnel.

At one point today, Goth's name was listed as the last post in the thread and I thought, "I hope he doesn't think me rude, it's just that I'm ignoring him."

Joe, resectfully cuz u have always been respectful to me and I do appreciate that but I just started college and hasn't college kids always been covered by their parents? I don't really k ow I am just assumming it has cuz how is a college student supposed to payfor it by hosting a couple of nights a week. In Any event I wsh you good health and recovery.

Thanks Joe. I have just one question about the HC plan that no one has ever been able to answer for me. Its probably the one reason I am on the side thst its bad.

Why if its such a good plan would congress and both parties in fact only vote for it if they and theyre families were exempted for it?

To me, if it was so great they wouldn't want to be exempt nevermind demand to be for them to vote it.

Its what they call a suckerbet.
