Smikey, The IRS apologized, people "retired", bureaucrats cried quietly into their bowling towels because the conservative media (by which I mean everything but Mother Jones and four hours of MSNBC four nights a week) is viscous and relentless. AS I pointed out when you were wearing your Sue Storm costume earlier, as Shirley Sherrod and the former ACORN employes learned, sometimes, it's just not worth defending yourself from a right-wing witch hunt.

If you think the IRS did something wrong by investigating political groups (on both sides) for violating their tax-exempt status then you must really be livid the way police keep arresting murderers.

Sue, your ACORN claim is just a BLATANT LIE! You say you want civility and respect and a civil debate. When your credibility is on the line, that's all you have sometimes. I was John Edwards biggest defender until the facts came out and I had to admit I was wrong.So, go research the Acorn story again and don't go to ONLY right wing news sites.

Hello, Joe!! I went through this thread and proved that most of what you have said here is absolutely false. Obama did not change ONE WORD of the law after it was passed?? UNTRUE! THe IRS did NOT target conservative groups?? UNTRUE!! Obamacare's regulations are around 1,000 pages? BULL!! The Congress read the bill before they voted on it? IMPOSSIBLE! And your claim that the IRS apologized for targeting conservative groups because it feared the conservative media is positively laughable. The IRS is "afraid" of a nonexistent "Conservative" media?? As someone else already said, "you've gone off the deep end". But at least you qualified that by stating that in your OPINION the media has a conservative bias. Unfortunately for you, the facts simply do not back that up.

To Sue Storm: In my experience, the news media (except for MSNBC) do NOT tilt left. They go so far out of their way not to do so that they often miss key points in reporting. For example, the "blame both sides equally" attitude is rampant in the Washington Post and on CNN -- two outlets that often get blamed for leaning left. However, it is not the left nor the center, nor the center right that are attempting to shut the government down. Instead, it is the far right Tea Party representatives, many of them elected in 2010. How do I know? First, they are quoted as being exultant about the idea of a shutdown, while everyone else is somber. Second, they are the ones that keep inserting the poison pills into the continuing resolutions, knowing that the other side can't stomach them. Of course, one could argue (as many on the right do) that there is nothing stopping the left from agreeing to put off Obamacare for a year, in exchange for a vote against a shutdown. The problem is that it means giving into blackmail -- the minority is trying to force the majority to put off duly passed legislation to avoid a disastrous situation. That doesn't sound to me as if both sides are equally to blame.
