As classy as Luscious was it will more than likely someone like Mejusthaving who makes me sit out this election. Its people like you who are dividing the party. Obama is the nominee, yet you still feel the need to sell him and jam him down our throats. You gloating reflects on your candidate.
MJHF, do you really think with your attitude it will unite the Democrats? I am praying people like Luscious overthrow your kind of Obamites. With people who think like you, McCaine has got the White House.
I still think Obama has a HUGE uphill (no pun intended) battle. Yes, Obama can draw crowds in the thousands, but will they come and vote in November? Obama has to reach out to idependents and blue collar workers and undecided voters, something Hillary has no problems with.
Obama is very popular with Democrats. What I find troubling is, this seems to be the only group who supports him strongly. I could see you gloating if Hillary was trailing, but its a close race. VERY CLOSE.Without her, I don't see Obama winning.
So be careful who you piss off. The way I se it, Obama needs Hillary's supporters since he is the nominee. He needs her MORE than she needs him.
Romantico - I have to disagree with you regarding independents. Most recent polls show Obama polling better with independents. While he certainly has some demographic issues, winning the general election doesn't mean you have to win every state or every demographic. What I find lacking in the Clinton campaign's argument is their definition of swing states. An Obama/McCain electoral map may look very different from a Clinton/McCain map. She may need a state like West Virginia, while he may be able to swing a state like Colorado.
"Obama would have gotten at least 45% of the vote in Michigan."
Which is sad, considering the large African American community in Michigan.
As of right now, Obama is holding an 8 point lead over McCain.

"Its people like you who are dividing the party."
I'm not divisive at all. Look at all my previous postings. You are the one on the attack. Spreading lies about Barack being a homophobe.
What I have said about Clinton is true. To be honest I don't want Clinton or Obama as president but I had to pick the one I thought could win. He has proven that to me. Just because you had a problem facing the reality that Clinton was losing is your perogative. I choose to be informed about this process.
“Obama is the nominee, yet you still feel the need to sell him and jam him down our throats. You gloating reflects on your candidate.”
I haven’t gloated at all. I’m actually very proud of both of them. I prefer Clinton when she’s being genuine and not the fear monger though.
“MJHF, do you really think with your attitude it will unite the Democrats?”
If by democrats you mean the people on this board no. I don’t really think most of you are interested in being united.
“I am praying people like Luscious overthrow your kind of Obamites.”
Ok, well I haven’t done anything but defend Obama with facts and have stated how Clinton is just the same. Same same.
“With people who think like you, McCaine has got the White House.”
McCain gave up the White House last week. See my other thread on the subject.
Obama is a uniter, I’m not worried at all about the party.

"Luscious decided everyone who didn't support Obama was racist."
You're a filthy, Obama-hating liar, tazber. I did nothing of the sort, and you know it. You must be taking lessons in truth telling from your candidate of choice... when she isn't being fired at by snipers.
What I said is... "If you're willing to vote for someone WHO IS DIAMETRICALLY OPPOSED TO EVERYTHING YOU BELIEVE IN just so a black man isn’t elected president, then you're a racist. And an idiot."
"If you're a Hillary supporter but would vote for McCain over Obama, then you're either a racist OR YOU DON'T VOTE BASED ON THE ISSUES. WHICH IS IT? Or, if there is any other rationale, by all means, let's hear it."
And I posed the questions (that you still haven’t answered)...
"If you're against the war continuing indefinitely, how could you vote for McCain? If you’re in favor of a woman's right to choose, how could you vote for McCain? If you’re for universal health care, how could you vote for McCain?"

"But can he unite the Democratic Party? Not with supporters like Lush calling people who disagree with her "drunks" in need of 12-step groups."
I didn’t call TheatreDiva a drunk because he/she disagreed with me. I called him/her a drunk because his/her comments were unintelligible and banal and made him/her sound like he/she had been drinking. And pardon me PJ, but in my initial post I congratulated Hillary on her big win in Kentucky. If the Democratic Party fails to unite after Obama wins the nomination, it won’t be because of supporters like me, but rather "supporters" (and I use the term loosely) like yourself that use every opportunity to bash the candidate that they purport to now be supporting. Shame on YOU!
"Obama would have gotten at least 45% of the vote in Michigan."
Which is sad, considering the large African American community in Michigan."
It's not that large, and that's what is very interesting about that primary in Michigan. 45% of the voters actually voted against Clinton not for someone else. I think given a proper campaign there we would have seen a much narrower margin.
Also as I have said, anyone writing in a name, any name rendered the ballots invalid.
Well, I think he is anti gay but I won;t not vote for him just for that reason. Clinton may be losing but you seem to forget she won a state yesterday and last week as did Obama. Are you saying those who voted for her should be ignored? Their votes don't count?
If Obama is a uniter, why are we all still divided? I agree with you and despite our differences on who the better candidate is, you and I both DO NOT WANT MCCAINE TO WIN. Right? Can we agree on at least that?
Obama and Clinton will be the ones to unite the party. Not just Hillary and not just Barack but BOTH OF THEM. I have warmed up to Obama not because I feel he is better than Hillary but I feel he is better than McCaine. I have some big issues with Obama but even bigger ones with McCaine, so Obama as of now, has my vote (however, if Hillary is not on the ticket this could change, we'll have to wait and see) For the same reasons Pal Joey and JRB are uniting and supporting Obama. The Hillary haters here need to do the same thing. They need to embrace her and realize she, like Obama wants to win in November.
You're a filthy, Obama-hating liar, tazber.
Taz--I think that should be your new signature: "Filthy, Obama-hating liar"
As my grandma used to say, Lush, "I'm sure someday you'll grow up and be very nice."
“I am praying people like Luscious overthrow your kind of Obamites.”
When Luscious posts things like, “You're a filthy, Obama-hating liar” as well as lying about me, why would anyone want to be like it?
Besides, this whole thread just proves how hateful the Obama supporters are, underneath their shiny veneer.
Gallup polls (aka the popular vote) are great, but they aren't how you win in November.
Electoral College Matchups for May 21, 2008:
Obama 242 McCain 285 Ties 11
Clinton 284 McCain 237 Ties 17
It takes 270 to win.
To any Clinton supporters who are undecided or unsure about supporting Obama - you shouldn't let your decision be impacted (either way) by any disparaging comments on this board. Decide on the issues. By the way, if you're considering voting for McCain, I can assure you that his supporters are far more obnoxious than anything you'll find here. Try watching FoxNews and get a load of the likes of O'Reilly, Hannity, Rove, etc. Listen to them put on the likes of Oliver North to criticize Obama's position on Iran (really, they had the nerve to do that).
Well said Madbrian. I agree.
"Well, I think he is anti gay but I won;t not vote for him just for that reason."
Well I'm glad you will ignore your thinking because you are wrong. Do you understand? What you are assuming is prejudice.
"Clinton may be losing but you seem to forget she won a state yesterday and last week as did Obama. Are you saying those who voted for her should be ignored? Their votes don't count?"
No I have said on here before I think she should continue running as long as she wants. I didn't like the negative campaigning but that is over now. Yes I think votes should count, yes yes yes. Her win yesterday was nothing short of awesome.
"If Obama is a uniter, why are we all still divided? "
To begin with you wont listen to reason and lay down your misconceptions. The gay thing in particular baffles me.
The thing about Obama is this, he has never set out to change people. People that WANT change come to him. He is change in that simple message. He is inherently change because of skin color but that is not his message. If you are not going to vote for him then don't. If you don't like his message and you don't like him as a candidate pick someone else.
"you and I both DO NOT WANT MCCAINE TO WIN. Right? Can we agree on at least that?"
Certainly.
"For the same reasons Pal Joey and JRB are uniting and supporting Obama the Hillary haters here need to do the same thing. They need to embrace her and realize she, like Obama wants to win in November."
Well for a while there when it was clear she couldn't win, it seemed like she didn't want either to win in November. That made many democrats very angry. The party will come together. But don't count me in with people that personify these "leaders." I look at them with the same eyes. These people didn't get where they are by being nice. Nice guys finish last, ask Dennis Kuccinich.

And I agree as well. We HAVE to get above all this. Get it all out of our system.
And Hillary supporters--just ignore mejust and the like, don't read The Hufffington Post, be careful on YouTube, and well most anywhere online. Don't have any political discussions in mixed company/public--esp in NYC.
After that you should be ok. LOL
Are you working for the McCain campaign mjhf?
Good God no, his campaign ain't got no money.
JRB - those electoral maps can be misleading. Those numbers you quote give electoral votes to a candidate with as little as a 1% lead based on weeks-, if not months-, old individual polls.

I am only interested in the total that includes ALL states and territories--thus, Clinton is estimated to be ahead by 71,314 votes.
Obama will be the nominee, but it's important to see this above info. And to see what a mess this election looks like.
Obama/Clinton sure would be a huge help.
The swing states--Obama and/or Clinton swing states--are fairly current.
I realize that could all change by November, but it's just important to realize what has been the political reality for some time now.
I'm anxious to see numbers after he is the declared the nominee and they both have running mates.
If McCain picks Huckabee then this could get pretty hairy.
I think Obama has a really clear shot otherwise. The Republicans have a lot of triage to do holding seats and rebranding. It clear in both Clinton and Obama's vote counts that the Republicans need to restrategerize. This election can't be close and it's important to make that the fundamental goal in November.
I really hope Clinton is on the ticket. If Huckabee is, we she needs to be.

In my dictionary the words "loathe" and "hate" are synonymous.

Taz--I think that should be your new signature: "Filthy, Obama-hating liar"
Perhaps it should.
And you should try growing up a little yourself, PJ. Try practicing a little of what you preach.
Obama does actually mention gays in his stump speeches, something not too many politicians do (when running for national office, at least).
MJHF, I have posted links to back up why I am disappointed on Obamas anti gay stand. Its you have ignored them. Do a google search. There is plenty. You have an answer for everything and ignore the tough questions.

Romantico - he is the only candidate who supports a complete repeal of the Defense Of Marriage Act, and he is the only national candidate I've ever seen speak about gay rights to a non-niche audience.
