The Mertzes follow Lucy & Ricky to Connecticut. That was a bit weird.
I thought that was a logical storyline. Ethel convinced Fred that they could manage their apartment building and live in CT with the Ricardos. Semi-retirement and they get to live next door to their best friends and god-son.
You wanna talk odd TV storyline? How about Rhoda moving out of Minneapolis back to New York? WHAT WAS THAT?!
I always shudder thinking about this one. In season 5 of Grey's Anatomy, Izzie had sex with her dead fiance. She was seeing him because she had a brain tumor. Then when she didn't die, the next season she got fired from her job and left only to randomly come back once and then we never heard from her again.
Even on a show as odd as FRINGE, where they managed to get away with nearly every plot they threw at the audience, the Observers Invasion Future Timeline pretty much lost me completely.
I was a huge fan of Friends, but I hated the Marcel story line, as the Joey/Rachel romance.

"as the Joey/Rachel romance."
I'm surprised someone got paid to write that as it was a storyline not even worthy of a soap opera.
The deformed Patrick imposter (or was he?) on Downton.
The gun-going-off episode on Glee.
Most episodes of Glee.
Everything on Alias after the whole "You died two years ago" storyline.

Yes, that one was odd. Especially with Edith getting all jiggy for him.
I really didnt like Lindsay finding out she was adopted on Arrested Develoment.

Roseanne winning the lottery. The break up (but not break up--death of Dan, I guess). I didn't really like the last few seasons although the first few were beyond brilliant.

For a show that was full of ridiculous moments, I never really cared for just how ridiculous Soap got at the end. Though I do have to wonder if some of those moments would have played better had the series gotten a fifth season and not ended with so many cliff hangers. I seem to recall them at least trying to wrap up Jessica's fate in an episode of Benson.
I think they mentioned it, though Benson was such a different show. I agree that, as great as it was, it got a bit too ridiculous at the end.
Howabout the rather infamous episode of a sitcom I never watched--Ted Knight's Too Close for Comfort. Monroe, one of the male leads (who was meant to be a dumb cop) was kidnapped and raped by two women.) The entire episode used to be on youtube but seems to be down, except these poorly filmed segments http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-gw2_SCjtk The episode didn't seem to know if they wanted to treat it seriously,m or play it for laughs (complete with a laugh track.) Just all out bizarre.
If we got into soaps (daytime and primetime like Dynasty spin off The Colby's alien abduction) this would be endless.
