I got Kerrie a thread at ze very stroke of midnight, and it cost my blood, sweat, and tears...ooh and a Ben Folds 5 cd as he is a piano god!
So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life.~Office Space

hey so
i just moved into my dorm
and seeing as how i'm 900 miles away from home, i know no one, and my parents had to leave already...i don't have a roommate...i'm...well its not homesick, cuz i dont' miss home yet, i'm just...scared i guess. i'm really nervous. i don't know if i'm gonna like being so far away from my family and friends...i mean, i know i'll make more friends, but classes don't start till wednesday, and so i have a few days before i'll be in a forced environment with people..if that makes sense.
so i'm just kinda hanging out in my room while everyone else is away with their roommates...and its just kinda lonely. i dunno...i shouldn't be worried about it yet, cuz its my first night..
its just that i'm the only one who doesn't know someone. and everyone else doesn't move in till tomorrow. so it'll be a rough night. i'm scared. not of being here alone or anything, but just of what lies ahead of me. it makes me anxious.
and sadly enough, i miss my parents already. it broke my heart to see my mom cry like that when they left. and i had to be the strong one and not cry, cuz if my mom knew how nervous i really am, then she'd really lose it. i'm her last child to leave the house, so now she doesn't really have any kids left. and that scares her. but i think i'm just scared cuz this is my first night of the rest of my life...of not living at home, of being totally responsible for everything i do and everything i buy and...everything. its scary. and i'm not gonna lie...i'm really scared.

Honey...there are many ways you can keep in touch with old friends and family. They will miss you, but if you call them everyday or every other day, they'll get to talk to you. E-mails work too...plus, if you have some extra time, you could try and visit them.

I'm pretty sure you'll make friends. Hey, I'm going to junior high school. Sadly, I don't have friends, either. I just try to find another lonely soul out on campus. Become friends with those people-they'd probably love to have a friend.

Mingle around and see who you find. By the way, good luck! GFU/Gregory Jbara Love Thread!!/Wed.&Sat. Gregcam/GFU AIM Chat

ilovedrsandNLB: this is where you start banging on people's doors that live down the hall from you. that and i highly recommend leaving your door open when your in your room. i do that now and i have people just stopping by to say hi and commenting on my room. last year i have boy from oz thing going on by my bed so everyone was coming in, asking if i saw the show? did i meet hugh? blah blah blah... this year i'm thinking a little DRS so yeah... hope things get better for you though.

jamie: ahhh... stealing wallpaper. i love it. umm i can't remember where i found those pics too. i think new york times... maybe? not sure.

hello all. tired right now, cause I fell asleep on the couch. But today was fun. I finally packed up (i'm leaving Sunday for Dickinson college) and I went to a party where there was a scavenger hunt (awesome!) there were 45 things on the list and one of them was taking a picture of someone mooning in a publis place. No one in my group did it, but I saw the pictures of other groups. Very interesting! lol. Stayed there for about 5 hours, talking about the "old days".

actually, one of the games that we played was "Guess who Ashley, Noelle and Erica are (they are a few of my friends)?" so, Erica comes on, pretneding to listen to an ipod, singing the end of "defying gravity" from Wicked at the top of her lungs in a very bad way and everyone shouts out "Andrea!" (my real name). God, I was laughing for a long time after that.

Then I came back and watched Monk which was hilarious as usual. That was my day.

I'M LEAVING TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!! and i'll probably miss camday today, so, copy some good shots if you can! I'll try and stop by and say hi to greg at somepoint.

so, yeah. oh, and you know that story that wrq mentioned that she wrote? It reminded me of a play that I wrote and I sent it to her. If you guys want to read it (and that is, if, cause it's like 33 pages long), here's the link:

Wow, everyone's going off to college...like here, and leaving me at home at comm. college...oh well, it's what I need.

I know it prob sounds weird me encouraging you guys about college, but realize my experience was very personal to me, and I still loved it there, so I feel I can still give advice and assurances :-P

It is 1 million percent normal to fear not making friends, EVERYONE does. But remember almost everyone's in your boat. The open-door policy is def excellent, that def goes on a lot, esp. in the beginning. You get to know ppl much quicker in college than you ever did, I mean, I made like 5, 6 life-long friends in just being there 6 weeks, pretty soon you'll feel as close to them as ppl you've known for years. Another good thing to keep in mind is wherever you are, there are a lot of ppl. In high school, not that I'm at all diminishing those friendships, I still love my HS friends dearly, but you are somewhat limited in your friends. I love my friends, but you know, they didn't care a lick about bway, etc. There are soo many diff. ppl in college to choose from or that you could be friends with, from roommates, suitemates, floormates, dormmates, ppl in classes, etc. Soo many ppl. It's very unlikley you're gonna have no friends.

Homesick/family missing obviously I could relate to. I think I suppressed it, which contributed to the breakdown. Don't feel guilty for being homesick, again, totally normal. don't try to force yourself to not call all the time or not to come home if you need to--like me pushing myself to not come home from Rosh Hashanah I now realize was a big mistake. The best advice I've given anyone is to accept whatever feelings you have and not to be ashamed. Sometimes the biggest mistake we make is analyzing our feelings, like wondering if there's something wrong w/ us if we're scared of weird things, or get in bad moods a lot, etc. It's just part of who you are. Besides, you really can't change anything until you accept it.

Gav--junior high--oy. Good luck. IMO, early adolescence is possibly the hardest time in one's life. But(did I mention I wanna be an adolescent psychologist? Again, if not totally obvious..) there are little things I can suggest to make it a tad easier..

BE YOURSELF. This is my motto on life and I think it's worth and this age-be an individual. In junior high, everyone tries soo hard to fit in that they lose themselves in the process, and all we're left with is 20 girls w/ the same outfit, hair, way of talking, likes, etc. It makes me sick. Just remember, even if it's not in your current junior high, there are people who will accept you for you, and those are the kinds of friends you want. If you are yourself, then you can accept yourself, and if you accept yourself, there's only so much peers can hurt you.

Accept that it's better to have no friends than bad friends--when you consider people "friends" that's when they hurt you the most. You share things with them that they use against you. There even are things esp. between girls that are abusive friendships--where one girl is constantly told to do something or the other girl won't be her friend, or the friend constantly makes fun of or puts the girl down, or says something like you know everyone thinks you're a geek but not me, I like you. My sister had a friendship like this, and years later, she was in an abusive relationship. I'm sure one led to the other. I used to be miserable if I thought a "friend" was mad at me but it took me years to learn they weren't worth it...the things I wish I could have known in 7th grade

And if you're a reader, I'd also recommend "Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Aggression In Girls" by Rachel Simmons-great book, discussing well...hidden agression of friends, discusses abusive friendships, ostracized girls, the bad reactions of parents, what causes mean girls to be mean, etc. Of course as someone who wants to study psychology of course I love it, but I think it's all around a good read, w/ lots of true stories in there.

I and I'm sure lots of your online pals are here if you ever need to talk! Just don't let PMSing girls and immature boys ruin what could be a great experience.

oh, wrq, odd girl out. probably a good book, but i didn't really like the movie. (lifetime adapted it. it starred that girl from spy kids)

anyways, yeah, middle school is when a lot of things happen. may i tell u that that's the age girls and guys start to think about s-e-x. some actually HAVE it. yes, in 7th grade, and i kid you not. it's horrible, how the "youth" is today.

about the high school friends thing, i agree. NONE of my best friends care about broadway. i mean, they think it's nice when they go see a show once in a while, but nobody shares my "passion (or is it obbsession? GFU/Gregory Jbara Love Thread!!/Wed.&Sat. Gregcam/GFU AIM Chat )" for it. guess that's why i'm always HERE, talking to YOU guys! that's why i love the school musical-not anybody in the cast hates musicals (obviously)! haha. unfortunately, most of those people i rarely ever see outside of practice.

Heh, typical conversaton between me and two of my best friends in high school:

Kendall: I have [Godsmack] in my head.

Leah: I have[Morning Glory] in my head

(you see how much I know about current music, I think they're rockish bands...

Me: Umm, err...I have Miss Saigon in my head

good morning all. i won't be here for the matinee cam. someone let me know what all goes on. and jamie i agree, not all my friend's like broadway as much as me. they like it but don't take it to the same level as i do. try having a boyfriend who doesn't understand why i go to new york all the time. he's never been to new york, nor does he want to (which makes no sense to me since he's a performance major) but needless to say that relationship didn't work, not because of the broadway thing. there were alot more issues involved. alright guys... i am off to PIAZZA! see you all later tonite.
