It is possible... I wouldn't put it past him to do it but at the same time I wouldn't put it past other people to pretend!

It wouldn't surprise me if that is John, since there are some professionals who post on the boards. And I thought it did sound like him, but also I haven't written him before. I wonder if the mods would confirm/deny?

Regardless, I'm glad, b/c that thread was getting out of hand. I also think it's so gracious/sweet/cool that John responds to fans whether they are 5, 12, 30, or 60 or whatever.

I just went and read it again and it may be him, he did put Jersey Boys in caps and John does that in e-mail and in letters.

If it is him great, if it isn't I dont think he would like them saying it is.

Regardless, I'm glad, b/c that thread was getting out of hand. I also think it's so gracious/sweet/cool that John responds to fans whether they are 5, 12, 30, or 60 or whatever.

Thats what I love about him.

Wow... I don't check BWW for a few hours and the JLY thread becomes 34 pages long! I just wanted to say that I really, really hope JLY feels better soon. I think he needs a break, too, but the guy is dedicated. That's one of the things I love about him, but that role is HARD and he needs a break. But I'm sure JLY will do whatever he feels is best. I think it'll be a good idea if the have two people share the role of Frankie.

How many people here are really excited to see what JLY does next? I mean, I'll be sad to see him go [as everyone else will be, I'm sure], but this guy has so much talent and that ABC contract sounds promising. I'm sure he won't disappear after JB.

Oh, and Meryl- you always get such great photos! Did you stagedoor the first time you saw JB? I don't remember seeing you there...

I am really excited to see what John does next. I'd rather see him do a play than TV, but anything is fine as long as he stays in the spotlight!

Ahhh I am a Broadway Legend now :).

"Just watched "Goodfellas" for the first time today - it was a great movie."

It's one of my favorites too, and is one of Martin Scorsese's very best films.

If the version you saw is the heavily-edited TNT version, do yourself a favor and rent the DVD. You owe it to yourself to see a version that hasn't been sanitized. One of the great sources of Goodfellas' power is its rawness, which includes the undiluted violence and profanity.

"Omigosh Meryl, those pictures are amazing!"

So true. Meryl, you really do have a knack for getting THE BEST stagedoor photos.

"How many people here are really excited to see what JLY does next?"

I certainly am. Nothing gives me a bigger thrill than discovering fiercely talented young actors.

I just want John to do great, challenging, work regardless of the medium. And that is obviously his goal.

How many posts do you need to be a Broadway Legend?

Kathryn, I saw that you edited your BWW post on the fan mail thread. Were you able to find out for certain that it was John who posted?

I just want John to do great, challenging, work regardless of the medium. And that is obviously his goal.

I will be sad when JLY leaves JB because it had been so much fun following everything that comes with him (and the rest of the guys) being in the show, including great stagedoor stories.

At the same time, I am excited to see what comes next, because John's so talented and focused. I love his intensity as an actor. Some actors are probably suited better for one medium over another but I think John could succeed in any of them. Like Patrick Wilson is able to. To me, John is first and foremost an exceptional actor, if that makes sense, than a singer who also acts, etc. While I don't have much faith in network TV in general, something great could come down the pike. In the future, I see him doing more plays and dramatic roles in film.

Does the ABC development deal mean that he would be put into a new show only, or could they even create a role for him on an existing program?

My posts always seem a little long. Hope it doesn't bother anybody!

In that Readers Digest interview I alluded to earlier, John answered the question, "What do you do after a show like this?" The short answer is, Something with a great story in any medium that scares the socks off of him.

But he says it eloquently that it's really worth listening to if any of you haven't heard it already. The interview is also 30 minutes long. :)

I saw it also, and it was on TNT. I guess I'll have to check out the DVD because it was a really great movie.

That was really sweet of John to make a post in the fan mail thread. It was getting out of hand and I'm glad he stepped in.

I'm excited for what is in store for JLY and also the other Jersey Boys. I'm sure he'll be great in whatever he does whether it's a flop or not. He's a fantastic actor, I don't see why he wouldn't do well on television.

Does the ABC development deal mean that he would be put into a new show only, or could they even create a role for him on an existing program?

That's a good question. Maybe it could go either way, you never know. I wouldn't mind seeing John on any of the current shows, but it's also nice to see something new. I'm not much for ABC sitcoms, maybe I should start getting into them. However, I am a huge Grey's Anatomy fan!

If the version you saw is the heavily-edited TNT version, do yourself a favor and rent the DVD.

Oh yeah, totally. I saw the orginal uncut movie version with my dad because he had it on DVD then a while later the edited made for tv version. When a gunshot would go off my dad would go "BAM" or something of the liking. He tends to get into these kind of movies haha.

So true. Meryl, you really do have a knack for getting THE BEST stagedoor photos.

Awww thanks you guys! I'm very flattered *blushes* As long as the picture isn't blurry and I'm with the actor... it's all good lol

Oh, and Meryl- you always get such great photos! Did you stagedoor the first time you saw JB? I don't remember seeing you there...
=P I didn't get a chance to go to the stagedoor the first time because I had somewhere to go afterwords. Seeing the show that day was somewhat of a last minute thing, I only decided a couple of hours prior to me going to bed that I was going to do it haha.

I don't see how JLY and other celebrities can bear to read the things that are written about them on message boards, even when it's complementary!

I'd totally freak out.

Meryl, did you get souvenirs yesterday, too?

The only show I watch on ABC is Lost. JLY on a comedy would be interesting, although some of the better written ones like The Office or Scrubs are on other networks.

I'd be freaked out to read things written about me on message boards too. And situations like yesterday reminded me that you never know who's reading these boards! Anthony Rapp posted LONG messages/responses to fans during the filming of the Rent movie (not sure that he still does, though).

Alejandra I'm with you the only show I watch on ABC is Lost but this past season was really crappy compared to the first one.

How about John being on Lost? He would make the show so much better.

JerseyGal, talk of YouTube (AKA the site that shall not be named) isn't allowed on the boards. So, either just don't talk about it or keep it really, really, really discreet.

Ooh, Erin, JLY on Lost? He would definitely improve the show. I love the acting on Lost but the plotlines go in every direction and drive me crazy, haha. I originally started watching b/c of Dominic Monaghan (I'm a LOTR movie fan big time) but I love Matthew Fox too. Having the three on the same show would fun.

There are too many cop shows out there. I could see him on those, but my favorite kind of show are quirky relationship-oriented dramas.

I was planning to swing by the August Wilson but unfortunately I didn't have any time. The History Boys was actually quite long and it ended somewhat later than other shows do. Another thing was it took forever to get out of the theatre! By the time I got out I missed about half of the boys. But meeting Sam and Dominic made up for it *heh heh* A couple of other people and I were waiting if Richard would come out, but the guy said he wasn't so I headed to Coldstone instead. By that time it was well past 5 and...yeah.

I'm always in the city so I could drop by just about anytime. Maybe before school starts I go again =]

I also started watching Lost because of Dominic Monaghan ( I also loved LOTR.)

I do too but I'm tired of all the crime dramas. If West Wing were still on he would be great on that. But then again that was on NBC.

Career-wise, I think an actor gets a bigger boost if they land a role on a new show that becomes a hit because people feel like they just "discovered" you even if you've done other things for which you've won acclaim.

My cop show is COPS itself. Jersey Boys love I don't watch CSI or Law and Order. Shocking, isn't?

I don't watch many TV shows, so I don't know what he'd be good on, but I hope that if he does land a tv show it's a good quality one. There are so many crappy tv shows out there. It would be better for him if it was a good quality one. But I know that if he lands any television role, I'll be watching every episode!

JLY on a comedy would be interesting, although some of the better written ones like The Office or Scrubs are on other networks.
Hmmm... a comedy? That would be interesting.

Tennessee- I have to agree, even though JLY is so well-known in the broadway world, he's an "unknown" to most. It reminds me of when I'd tell people I only watched Grey's Anatomy for Sara Ramirez. They'd be confused because she's an "unknown". They had no idea she had won a Tony. Nobody knows about the Tony, so nobody really cares.

Nobody knows about the Tony, so nobody really cares.

Sad but true. The Tony is the most obscure of all the four major show business awards.

Theatergeeks keep up with them. But they are the only ones who do.

There once was a time when Hollywood actively recruited stage actors from NY to become movie stars. There was real respect for their talent.

But nowadays, Hollywood producers are more likely to hire someone from a reality TV show who's never acted in his life to star in their movie or TV series before they'd hire a well-trained stage actor because the person from the reality show has a higher name recognition.
