What about those of us who saw Norbert as Mark, Roger, Gordon and Steve in "Rent" as well as the Emcee in "Cabaret"? Do we get some sort of "Jesus Christ, I am old!" award?
greeneyed_one: I hope Sherie gets another great project soon, at least.
On a somewhat tangential note, I saw a high school production of AIDA tonight. It's fun to see kids perform these shows--there's a different kind of energy and excitement.
There was a lovely sense of community on the Norbert thread last year, but unfortunately, you're right, his thread has been slipping.
I want Sherie to win a Tony so badly. I really hope that her next project will bring her home a little golden trophy.
Alejandra925- AIDA seems like an impressive show for a highschool to pull off. Was some of the music changed/lowered/etc (espcially for songs like Dance of the Robe) or were the performs just phenominal?
I really love AIDA. I wonder what Norbert would sound like as Radames......
[edit] BTW your avatar is simply adorable.

I saw AIDA at stagedoor manor (so, yeah, high school kids)....I was very impressed. I didn't expect it to be at the level that it was.
My high school thought about doing it this year but realized we just didn't have the talent. I was lucky enough to see it at the St. Louis Muny with Will Case and Lisa Bsomething (totally blanking on the name) and it was absolutely amazing. Such a romantic show.
[edit] haha- just noticed the thread title

Like Play It Cool's experience, I was impressed with the level of talent in the high school production that I saw. It was actually the first time I've seen the show (all I've had was the OBC recording with Sherie, Adam and Heather)--so that makes it hard to compare. In this case, I think that the performers were taken from different high schools in my area, so that widened the talent pool. The young actress playing Aida was particularly a standout-she had more of a delicate and softer side to her than I can picture that Heather was--while still being proud, regal, etc.
If there is a slight criticism, it's that I couldn't clearly hear what the actors were saying sometimes, either singing or speaking.
The set design values were great for a school production--thanks to a partnership, they were able to perform in the venue that the professional touring shows usually do. Which is cool.
I would love to hear what Norbert would sound like as Radames!
As for my avatar...Hugh Jackman in green and Jersey Boys..what's not to love?
I adore Hugh Jackman especailly in "Kate and Leopold" and of course "X-Men".

is it bad that I saw the last xmen movie 3 times?
is it bad that I saw the last xmen movie 3 times?
Nah. :) Did you like it enough to see it that many times, or did you go b/c other friends wanted to see it so you went again?
I saw Star Wars Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones twice each--that has to be worse. LOL.
This summer I also saw Superman Returns twice, but I really liked that movie and the first time was on the IMAX.
green eyed one, strangely, as much as I like Hugh, I still haven't seen Kate and Leopold.

I am very excited! I get to meet Norbert today after his LA performance in DRS! Veryyyyyyyyyyy excited! I'll take a bunch of pics!
UPDATE: It is NOT his last perfomance in LA.
Today isn't his last LA performance in DRS. The show is here for another week.
"is it bad that I saw the last xmen movie 3 times? "
Yes. lol, but that's just me. I hated the 3rd movie but I can't get enough of the first 2. (However when it comes to seeing movies way too many times: I saw Lord of the Rings 1&2, Phantom of the Opera, Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl, and RENT six times *each* in the theater. I win!)
Broadwayx, please post your pics with Norbert!!!

I love him, even though I haven't meet him in person.
Vote Norbert.

I read somewhere that Dirty Rotten Scoundrels may go to London in 2007. Since Norbert seems to own this role, do you think the producers will try to get him to open in London like Idina is doing with Wicked? Good idea or bad idea?
I thought doing the tour was a bad idea but admit he's gotten some good press coverage and reviews on the West Coast which may help if he wants to do more than stage musicals. He has one film he's signed to do but that probably won't be released until next fall or winter. What should he do after a long vacation? He doesn't appear to be the type of person who can just sit and loaf for a long period of time.
Should he leave Freddy behind for good now?
Any thoughts or ideas?
Hmmmmmmm, I like the idea of opening in London, if that happens. But after that, and the upcoming film he's doing, I think he should do either a straight play or something from Shakespeare. I could see him doing Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream or even as Hamlet...that would be amazing if he could pull off that~
I LOVE YOU NORBIE-CAKES!!!

I think he could handle Shakespeare. Isn't he trained in the classics? I remember reading an article where the director of Scoundrels (I can't recall his name right now) said he'd like to see Norbert play Iago. That would be interesting. A Shakespearian tragedy and the villian to boot!
Would the New York audiences and critics accept him in a straight drama? Are actors in theater type cast as quickly as T.V. and film actors?
From what I remember, Norbert is definitely trained in Shakespeare and said that he would love to go back and do his plays. :) And Norbert has experience from earlier in his career of doing straight plays.
I would miss his phenomenal singing voice, but I would love for him to do a straight play and interpret dramatic material, post-Freddy.
As far as leaving Freddy behind altogether, though, the finalty of that makes me sad--even if Freddy wasn't my favorite of Norbert's characters. That said, I also wouldn't want him to play the role forever. Him doing the show in London in a limited run, like Idina is doing for Wicked, would seem like a perfect compromise. :)

I think that would be swell if he did that! But I can defiantly see him playing Iago, or any kind of Shakespeare villian. It would defiantly show his range you know? I mean, of course one of the main reasons why I fell for him was his beautiful singing voice, but sometimes you have to try other things right? But him as a villian could defiantly work. My only hope is that he doesn't abandon musical theatre~which I'm sure he won't since thats what really put him on the map you know?

Sort of off topic but I read a blurb in a CA newspaper the DRS got a few boos when in opened in Orange County, which is ultra conservative Republican after the "Bushes of Tex" lines.
Not too surprising knowing the policitcal bend of the OC but I image Tom Hewitt was struggling not to laugh at that response.
