Yeah, I'm the same way. I guess it'd be cool to see someone else in those roles but I don't want to think about anybody but Norbert as Freddy.
How is it that you keep winning the lotto??? I'm going to have to take you with me the next time I enter. Seriously, what's your secret?
I'm not sure my secret but I have been having great results. I lost last night but won today, before that last loss I had won four straight attempts. Ave Q, then Wicked then two DRS. I have actually bought non lotto seats to DRS twice.
Seriously I shudder at the thought of that playbill with someone elses name on a slip. Even if the person is fabulous it will be hard to come into the same league with Norb!
SP--
You're so flippin' lucky!!! I haven't decided when I'm coming up to NYC, but when I do, I'll let you know. You can win the lottery for me.
Do you think I should buy tickets, try the lottery, & if I win...sell them to someone who didn't win??? Since you have like a million times more experience...I thought I'd ask....
I'd definitely try to help you out Pinky!
The problem with buying tickets and selling them to someone who loses the lottery is that they will be very worried your tickets are not real, I think if you can get together with someone earlier and they actually know you and want to see the show in your seats that would work. It might be necessary if you do that to take a loss on cash, actually sell the regular price tickets you have for closer to the lottery price.
Hope that helps and you come soon, either way you musst see this show!
I won the lottery last evening---it was amazing seeing the show from that perspective! I was the first name called and asked for tickets on the aisle, right orchestra, since I knew that's where most of Freddy/Reuprecht action took place. This performance, for me , was going to be all about watching Norbs!
Of course, he did not disappoint, and I enjoyed him going wild and owning that stage. For anyone who has seen him perform or listened to him sing , we all know what a gorgeous voice he has, but what I was most impressed with THIS time was his acting. In the quieter moments, you can see how skilled he is and he makes you believe 100% he is a character, not a caricature. He adds touches of poignancy to his character which makes you love him/believe him all the more.
If anything the show is even tighter than when I saw it in early March. Although I'm sure alot of people come to see it for John's name, they leave fans of what is truly an ensemble piece.
Some observations for all:
1. Norb's sandals are by Mephisto (saw the bottom of his shoes in the train scene)
2. John has a new hairpiece since March, which looks much better and more natural.
3. Sherie carries a light blue Coach bag in the 2nd act. Matches her blue coat.
4. Norbs did not moon the audience, but I was waiting!
5. During the train scene when the focus switches to Joanna on the balcony, Norbs and John were chatting--wonder what they were saying?
6. It's evident how comfortable Norbs and Sheri are with each other, and Sherie even made a little comment to Norbs while he was in his "Buzz" character which they both laughed about at the end of "Nothing is too wonderful", which did not seem to be part of the script. She said something along the lines of "like a bird falling from the sky."
7. Entrance applause for all, except for Greg, but it was clear by the curtain call the audience was wildly enthusiastic about him. (I think he deserves a Tony nom, but this seems to be a particularly crowded year.)
Having watched QVC this week, it was fun spotting the jewelry that was featured during that show. Getting the free CD was such a bonus of what turned out to be a great DRS week.
I also saw "Spelling Bee" which I liked, but really cannot compare to DRS in terms of a Broadway show. Will post about that later.
Oh, and I would say there were about 50-70 people for the lottery, and yes, the guy who does the lottery (British) is adorable, as others have noted.
Congrats on winning the lottery wendy! And thanks for all the fun observations. I can't wait to hear your review of Spelling Bee...
H.
Hey Wendy, thanks for sharing all of those observations! How were Joanna and Sara last night?
Honestly, esp. since Norb has been in the show every night since previews, it's really hard to imagine what his standby and understudy would be like in the role. The whole show, in fact--I wonder how amazing it would be with a replacement cast rather than this OBC.
Alejandra
I can't wait to see DRS & the cute lottery guy!!!!
We're almost to our 1000th Norbert post guys!!!
Im new on this thread but I LOVE Norbert. Cant wait to see him in DRS. Its eating me alive.
you & me both Wicked!!!
Planning to see it anytime soon? I'm try to get up in May between my finals & internship.
Alejandra-Joanna and Sherie were both great, particularly Sherie. I was impressed with her the first time I saw the show because she nailed the role so expertly (comparing her with Glenne Headly from the movie, whom I loved). Her chemistry with both the leads was believable to a greater extent this time, particularly with John. My friend, with whom I saw the show the first time as well as last evening, kept commenting on her amazing voice and the ease with which she sang.
This show is a MUST for Norbert fans, not only becausue he sings beautifully, he showcases his many talents and gets to go wild on stage, which is totally appropriate for the character he is playing.
Just finished listening to "All about Ruprecht" and it brought back such memories of the scene--I am on a Broadway/DRS high today!
Wanted to add DRS was on TKTS at 35% off for the 8pm show--just an FYI..no idea where the seats were.

Glad you loved it Wendy, and welcome WickedRocks.
I'm off to see RENT!
Forgot to mention-In NY yesterday, I spotted Seth Rutsetsky, Christian Borle, and Liev Schrieber...who is very good looking.
Very cool Wendy. I loved RENT the cast was much better than I saw the last time, I enjoyed Roger and Mimi very much. Did anyone on this thread actually see Norbert in RENT I wish I had, I really wonder what he did with the roles.
Listening to the DRS CD I received Saturday nite, I could not keep a smile off my face, especially after really hearing he words to "Ruffhousin'" and "The More We Dance"--example of the lyrics "When we guffaw, in his ga-face". Hilarious!
Seeing Norbs move and rock out in some scenes of DRS, I can only imagine in "Rent" he was very sexy.
wendy: I have had such a major girlie crush on Liev for forever! I love him. Did you meet him or just see him?? BTW-have you seen him in the movie WALKING AND TALKING or A WALK ON THE MOON? He is one of my favorite actors! Okay, enough non-NLB gushing. (Or just gushing in general)
smartpenguin: I'm glad you enjoyed RENT even better than the last time you saw it. I, unfortunately, didn't get to see Norb in RENT. I would do anything to see some of that footage, though! My first "in person" experience with him was DRS just last month. And I'm already trying to plan my next trip back to NYC to see it again!
H.
I van only imagine, I'd love to see that too.
Ruffhausin is really funny with the way John really bounces and prances around the stage.
I was on 45th street, and he was across the street right near the stage door of Avenue Q. I noticed a little crowd there, and peeked to see who was there--and it was Liev. Handsome. I did see him in "A Walk on the Moon", but I remember being more "swoony" over Viggo.
I will rent "Walking and Talking"--I hear it is great.
BWayBetty--
just got my DRS CD & I LOVE IT!!! Thank you so much...you're an angel. Now i'm even more desperate to see the show!
I echo Pinky's words entirely. broadway betty, you are wonderful and so generous! :)
A.
I bought The Last 5 Years today. It is at least as spectacular as you all said. Wow, Norbert and Sherie are fabulous and I was floored by the score!
Pinky & Alejandra-You're very welcome for the cds. It's the least I can do since you guys haven't seen DRS yet. Let me just say once more that while the cd is really good, it doesn't do the show justice. I hope you guys get to see it soon cuz it's an incredible show. I play "All About Ruprecht" over and over imagining Norbert doing that precious little dance. I can't wait till I see it again!
SP-Yay! I'm so happy that you finally have L5Y! I'll say it again, it's one of the best cast albums I own. So beautiful, and Norbert and Sherie, uh! I have no words!
Yes Betty it is fabulous, wow, I can not get enough. And Pinky and Alejandra book your tickets the second you can, Norbert's dance in Ruprecht is worth the trip on its own. Then there is "Great Big Stuff" which is just outlandishly awesome! Through in Sherie's voice and John's eyes and there is no way to miss.
