This is off topic, but I'm so tempted to go pick up the Spamalot cast recording even though I really didn't have much interest in seeing the show..
And just because I want to be the 1,000th post... LOL!! YAY! *Tosses confetti*
As far as the Spamalot CD, it has some definite high points, and I think I've made my distaste for the show very clear. The songs are pretty catchy and especially the Ramirez songs are really, really good. I like it, but I can not listen all the way through. I have to skip to songs I like, which is odd for me.
This is weird I know but what type of role do you think Norber may take after he leaves DRS (hopefully not any time soon!) It seems he will finally have his choice of parts, what direction do you see him going?
Congrats on 1000, I was trying to leave that for you!
I'm just thinking he will actually have his pick of jobs after all this, no more Fiyerro type settling. I would watch him in "Norbert wallpapers a house" anyway.
Haha. Who knows what he'll do. I'm (and all of you from what I can tell) still determined to get him to put out a CD at some point.
That should be it! Solo Norbert sings... well again anything Welsh Belching songs I don't care.
I am HOPING that Norb gets a nice juicy role in a major film that then make tonnes o $$$. Raise his profile & give him the career leverage to pick & choose whatever he wants, theatre, recordings, film, tv. Show the world what quality is !
Well said Sabrelady, but I don't want to lose him from Broadway. Petty I know but I need my Norbs live.
Hey it could be great Thespian, I'd buy it!
A movie would be good, too. Haha, I live in Nebraska so seeing Norbert live on stage isn't an every day option for me. But him on DVD? That is!
Norb DVD that would be cool stuff.
I think he should do a movie, but let him film it in NYC!
He could become a big big star. I actually think he could probably pull off a great TV show, but it would need to be the right vehicle.
He could pull a Patrick Wilson.. film a movie during the day and do a Broadway show at night! Of course, Patrick isn't tied down with two daughters. So.
Norb might be able to do it, since if he does this now he can work less for the next couple years.
thespian geek: so glad you got to have the 1,000 post.
ITA that Norbert could be great on a TV show (maybe on cable so that he could push the envelope a little more). Kristin had her own show for awhile, and Taye is doing Kevin Hill. I really wouldn't want Broadway to lose Norbert to films and TV, but it would be great if he could do both, like Patrick Wilson is now. Idina is also doing theatre and film projects and should be big after the Rent film. (Ha, suddenly I want to cast Idina and Norbert in a smart romantic comedy!) I'd love to see Norbert work with some other favorite actors, like Kevin Spacey. And he already has the same quirky funny brilliance of Steve Martin or Bill Murray.
The boy *so* needs a solo cd. If anyone sees DRS soon, please ask him if he'd do a CD with Sh-K Boom. :)
Alejandra
Kristin had her own show for awhile
She's also on The West Wing, now.
Hehe. I'll also pester him about a CD with Sh-K-Boom when I see the show in August.
Well, I wish while in DRS some casting agent--or Steven Speilberg--casts him in something that uses all his talents. When I was watching DRS last Saturday, I thought some of his responses as Sgt. Buzz Benson reminded me of Sean Hayes in W&G. Maybe Norbert can be on a series where he makes $600,000 an episode and then he can do Broadway as he pleases!
I'd love to see him in a play...something old or traditional, maybe Shakespearish!!!
*bumping Norbert (hey, that sounds nice...) back to the first page.
Alejandra
thespian geek: what can I say? We're talking about Norb. I couldn't help it....
A. :)
Note-Picture of Norbs at the Drama Desk reception--he is a busy guy these days!
I wish they would have him perform "Great Big Stuff" on Lettermann--maybe after the Tony noms come out??
Alejandra-What songs are you particularly enjoying on the DRS OBC?
Those pics are great! :) I hope Broadway.com has more, too.
An article back in February said that David Letterman was trying to get Norb on the show. Hmmm, hope it happens soon! Idina was on Late Show in Oct 2003, Taye back in March (?) Kristin just a few weeks ago, so Norb needs to be on, too!
The songs I enjoy the most are Here I Am (I love trying to sing along with it even if I can't belt like Sherie LOL), Nothing is Too Wonderful to Be True (and the Miracle) is probably my *favorite*, and Love is My Legs.
How about you?
Alejandra
I am loving "Great Big Stuff" and "Son of Great Big Stuff"--esp where Norbs says "I WIN, I WIN, I WIN I WIN I WIN"--and then is conflicted at the end between "having great big stuff" and "nothing is too wonderful"--how his voice breaks into this great melodic sound when he gives into "nothing is too wonderful."
Also, "The More We Dance "--really a great showcase for John's comedic talents--and I love the lyrics.
When are you seeing the show? And do you know when the Sheri and Norbs interview at the American Theatre Wing will be up to view? (You are a great resource for things like that..)
Wendy-I don't know when it'll be online but it's airing on CUNY this Sunday at 5pm.
