smart penguin: I hope you're able to check in with us weekly, so you won't go insane. :) (I so would be!) Will you be trapped in the woods all summer?
BTW, how do you like the alternate version of Nothing is Too Wonderful to Be True on the "official" OBCR?
broadway betty: "unpatient", eh? LOL. I hope you get your CD soon! Chrys & I have talked about how Sh-K Boom prob. needs more help in making sure their cds get out in a reasonable timeframe.
Alejandra
I will be from May 23rd until August 1. Banner Elk, NC working as a counselor to the counselors and Drama instructor at a summer camp. i'll be able to leave some but it is so different.
unpatient is like impatient with the patience totally removed.
Nothing is too wonderful to be true: I love Sherie's voice, I am not used to the changed style at all though, I think it will need to grow on me to reach the heights of the rest of the disk.
Yazbeck doing "Here I Am" and "Ruprecht" is hilarious though, he even uses some weird accent in
Ruprecht"
Hey guys-There is a review of the DRS cast album on playbill.com, which is basically a love letter to the show...go check it out! The writer really "gets" the score, and even predicts a Tony for our Norbs.
I love that article it is an unqualified RAVE for DRS!
I am so happy.
I WIN, I WIN, I WIN!
Thanks for the heads-up wendy. I was positively giddy while reading it. It's such a delight to see this show getting the accolades it has deserved all along.
Norbert will win the Tony because he "flips the flapjacks". That's fine by me!
broadway betty: And such praise for David Yazbeck! You must be thrilled this award season.
*bump* this thread with a cute picture.
David Yazbek is such a cool guy!
BTW, broadway betty, in my recent photo searches I've come across some pics of Sara Ramirez and thought of you. :)

Hedwig-Yes I am! I love Norbert, I love DRS, I love Sara. It's all good!
Alejandra-hehe. I love Sara! Tell me where you found these Sara pics. She so pretty!
I love that set of pictures!
I tried the DRS lottery again today (well Yodamarie did while I was at work) no luck.
I'm going to try everyday this week until I get in since I'm leaving until August though!
I still can't get over that CD review, it made my whole week!
That picture is so cute. I keep forgetting they are not a real couple! They look so great together.
I can't get over how radiant Sherie always looks. It's really quite funny, when I initially met her at the stagedoor after DRS, she came out and she looked pretty, of course, and just a bit exhausted. But in the picture I was fortunate enough to take with her she looks AMAZING! She's such a little diva! I hope her star continues to rise, she deserves it.
SP--'Was wondering if you were going to try the lottery again, since you seem to have the record of anyone on this tread for most "wins". Good luck this week.
Why thank you, I did enjoy my "winning streak."
I'm very upset by that Dirty Rotten Egos thread on the main board, I really would rather people left stars alone in that situation.
Oh well, I hope I get in one last time! (before Fall, when I will try to add to my Dirty Rotten Viewing Record)
I don't like it either. Someone said that they've met Norbs several times and he came off as arrogant and has heard others say the same. No way does he act like that. He's so grateful to the fans that come out and see the show and is always so sweet, even when he's tired and in a rush to get home.
smart penguin and broadway betty: I loved your responses on that upsetting Dirty Rotten egos thread, especially what you said, smart penguin, about the actors being able to set boundaries. I really can see both sides, but I just don't like people thinking/concluding that Norbert and Sherie have bad attitudes based on this one incident.

Like I said on that thread, I think if he did scoff and roll his eyes at the stage manager, it was probably a joke. How can anyone be so openly rude to someone they work so closely with? Not Norbert. No way!
broadway betty: it was probably a joke, or Norbert could have been in a hurry, and his actions were misinterpreted. He's at Wicked pretty often I imagine, even though he's no longer in the show, so he must know those people well. Norbert does have an odd sense of humor. He's (charmingly) offbeat. I could see that happen.
There are lots of days and situations when I may not feel like socializing, and I'd hate it when people try to take my picture when I'm eating! I'm just not at all famous. LOL.
If you could go back and watch Norbert live in any of the shows he's done, which one would it be? I'd pick...Rent.
A.
Ooh, I like zis! I think I'd like to see him in Cabaret. Ok, Rent AND Cabaret! Now, if only we could make it happen!
I'd like to know what Norbert said on Teri Hatcher's last day with Cabaret. I've heard that it was a very touching speech.
Alejandra
I have to say the Last Five Years
and from what I have seen from Norbert he is very nice, but SHY. People do not seem to understand that shy, introverted people can be actors, even though WE are often very good at it.
Lots of people expect to see Freddy and when they get Norbert are upset, I love that he is so down to earth.
Aw, L5Y! Seriously, I think it's still my favorite show. :) I chose Rent b/c it was his first Broadway show and he got to play different characters.
I love that Norbert is down to earth. It is ironic that actors can be shy, introverted types. But I suppose acting helps them get over the shyness.
Alejandra
That is definitely how it is for me, I get to be free and open and it really becomes a great pick me up for my "real" life.
I'd love to see Norbs in Rent as well, maybe ALL is the real answer.
I want to know what he played back at the Alabama Shakespear Festival, I saw several shows there back in High School and I feel like he might have been in them. I actually was thinking I may have seen him as Hamlet! I wish I could find out!
BUMP-We should be at page 50 soon!
Theatremania.com has a pic and a quote from Norbs...check it out.
Someone posted a URL to cut and paste if you want to see early clips from DRS from The Globe Theatre in San Diego--http://www.theoldglobe.org/qtclips/dirtyrottenscoundrels_1_hi.html
And if you want to see Norbs going "Great Big Suff" (notice the maids costumes are much longer in the clip)--and Sherie doing "Here I Am", (She takes off her coat to reveal a different dress than the one she now wears) just subtitute the numbers 2 and 3 for the number 1 in the URL above.
I saw them early on, but it was great to see them now that I've seen the final production to see how it's changed..
