I haven't listened to L5Y in awhile. Shocking since that show is still clearly my favorite! But yesterday I did listen to ALAYM and felt my Norb-love coming back. Not that it has ever left--Norbert is the greatest--but I had been listening to Piazza and Hairspray more lately.

Yay for Norbert and L5Y love! I've been listening to it quite a bit over the last week, and the cd was even playing when my car broke down on route to Lake Tahoe this past weekend!

Hedwig: Lake Tahoe? I am jealous. I love Lake Tahoe! Several years ago I went there in August for a few days (my cousin was getting married) and I've never forgotten it. So.gorgeous.

"If I Didn't Believe in You" is stunning. Love, love it. My favorite part: "Don't we get to be happy, Cathy, at some point down the line...."

Alejandra: Yes, Tahoe was beautiful, and we also went for a friend's wedding. I had so much fun, despite the fact that my car died. You must go back!

BTW- When is Thespian Geek's birthday? Did she already head off to the Big Apple?

Yay! We're back!

All Alejandra needed was a little Norbert/Sherie/Hairspray love to cheer her up! So happy that you're feeling better!

Hedwig: I've never heard someone be so happy about their car breaking down, lol. At least you were in good company!

It boggles my mind that Norbert mainly thinks of himself as an actor b/c while he's a terrific actor, he's also a gorgeous singer. L5Y reminds me of that. If only I had discovered the theatre a few months earlier I could've seen L5Y live. *sigh*

broadway betty: thanks for kind words! I have a friend who saw Sherie and Norbert in L5Y a few times. She is very lucky. :)

I had a dream last night that Norbert was a guest in the Big Brother house. It was so weird! I saw him giving confessions in the Diary Room. Since he's an actor but the other HGs didn't know who he was, he was able to persuade and play them (but everyone still loved him, of course!)

This is a sign that I've been watching too much TV this summer. LOL. Anyone else have any Norbert related dreams (that aren't X-rated)?

Here's a funky, but not X-rated, Norbert dream for you: This was the day after I saw All Shook Up. There's this incredibly cheesy part(most of ASU is cheesy but go along with me here) where Elvis lookalikes are wearing leather jackets and wings(oy!)and are sitting on motorcycles hanging in the air.

My dream was that I was at church and I looked up at the ceiling and Jai Rodriguez was wearing a metallic blue Elvis costume and wings and playing guitar and then he introduced his creation for that week's episode of Queer Eye-Norbert as an Elvis impersonator! He was wearing Jai's matching outfit with a really bad Elvis wig and shades and I think white platform shoes.

That has to be the funniest dream I've ever had. I was laughing when I woke up, lol. I didn't think that if Norbert ever made his way into my dreams that it'd be as an Elvis impersonator but that's what happens when you eat before going to bed.

Hey Pinky! That pooch is precious!

I just found out that Chrysanthemum and I are celebrating her return from the south on the 27th with a trip to DRS! I'm so excited to see her after 3 months and I'm so excited to see DRS again! And then I'm going to Matt's final performance in Piazza on the 28th. I mention that cuz you guys know you love Matt, too!

Btw, there's a Piazza souvenir program and I can't wait to get my paws on it!

Ooh such fun Betty! There is no way I can wait that long to see DRS since I will be back in the City on SATURDAY!!! Yay! I may be down there on the 28th though so we can have a southern style watchin' party

I had no idea Matt was leaving Piazza, a return to that is also added to my immediate MUST list.
I saw a production of the Last Five Years in Abingdon, VA on Sunday night, it was extremely good (especially the young lady playing Cathy, she was fabulous) but it made me miss Norbert so much, the Jamie just did not have the emotional complexity to pull off the role, which was exaserbated by the power of th e Cathy and the image of Norbert doing the role (which is fanttasy, alas I never saw him do it) I have in my mind. I have listed to L5Y so many time s this summer it is ridiculous, and I have brought in two Hard Core L5Y/Norbert-Sherie fans. It is amazing to see a person liostenb to that disc for the first time. Jason, Norbert and Sherie just thinking about it makes me tear up and become overwhelmed with the sheer brilliance, and cry from the pain of those songs.

I would have dreamed that Norbert was in the version of the Last Five Years that I saw, but then I would have died.
For replacement in DRS, I want someone totally different, but am still totally unsure of who I would select. (Probably not Hunter or Chris on first thought though)
What is ALAYM? I feel I should know but too much time in the North Carolina sun has me bamboozled, I am a bit cold natured.

Hey SP! So glad you'll be back soon, we really miss you around here! I might bump into you on Saturday if you choose to jump right back into the theatre district b/c I'll be in the city this weekend, yay!

You MUST see Piazza with Matt one more time, he's glorious! Definitely is worthy of a second trip. Piazza=happy betty :)

Though it wasn't the cast we know and love, you're still lucky to have seen a production of L5Y. No one could fill Norbert's shoes. It's good that you've been getting your theatre fix in the south, and at a cheaper price I'm sure.

I've had Norb related dreams before, lol. All very funny and random. Like one time I was at DRS and I was in the side seat that he goes onto and somehow I accidentally tripped him and then I wound up on stage and a part of a show. Then we went to dinner. And then...my alarm went off. ::sigh:: lol.

I've been listening to Elaine Stritch at liberty about 20 times in the past few weeks and my weirdest dream, involved her Ethel MErman and Norbert. In the show she talks anbout watching Ethel Merman from the wings of the imperial when Elaine was standby in a show. Merman sings about giving away money and some drunk slob keeps harrasing her to give him the money. Merman stops mid song and escorts him out, then without a break returns and finishes. Stritch gives a hilarious anbd detailed account of her exciting the imperial anmddumping the bum on west 45th.
In my dream Norbert, while singing Love is My Legs does this same thing, but he hasd Stritches voice and out in the audience, in character konks the guy on the head and hides him under my seat. Weird I think, but it was fun, I do love those were somehow I wind up in the show as well, I've had a few of those.

I'm really glad to have been able to see L5Y, especially since I only paid 12 dollars, and as I said the girl playing Cathy was worth way more than that on her own, the staging was incredible as well. Just a little underwhelmed by the Jamie, since there is just so much power that can be in those songs.

Ah ALAYM, I have not touched Wicked in months, so I was bit confused. but that song, yum. I will have to break it out now. Norbert made that part for me. I thought you were taslking about a Cast Recording I had never heard of and was in panic mode for a moment.

Thrilled to hear you saw a production of L5Y. The one I saw in Raleigh (put on by Lauren Kennedy's family, as part of their summer series) was very good. Norbert and Sherie are two of my favorite people on earth, but Kate Shindle was a memorable Cathy. Fiestier and not as emotionally needy, but it was a different take on the character that I appreciated. I didn't like the Jamie as much. He wasn't bad at all, but Norbert leaves such an impression.

I don't think this was discussed here but I wanted to mention that I'm very excited about the new Off-Broadway musical The Great American Trailer Park Musical. It has a great cast, headed by Orfeh, and one of the characters is named Norbert.

I listened to DRS for the first time in a long time today and I must say that the opening number has really grown on me, it's a much better song than I thought after I first saw the show. And I noticed this the first time I heard the CR but I thought I'd bring it up. At the end of the finale, they sing "dirty rotten guys like uuuuuus", but they don't sing "us" in the show. I feel a bit cheated that I don't get that ending note in the show. Why have it on the recording but not in the show?
