hmmm...
I'd be all for it, after I land and when I'm not already scheduled to see a show. (sometime on Sunday I'm seeing Merily we Roll Along's last performance!)
SP! :)
Thrilled to hear you saw a production of L5Y. The one I saw in Raleigh (put on by Lauren Kennedy's family, as part of their summer series) was very good. Norbert and Sherie are two of my favorite people on earth, but Kate Shindle was a memorable Cathy. Fiestier and not as emotionally needy, but it was a different take on the character that I appreciated. I didn't like the Jamie as much. He wasn't bad at all, but Norbert leaves such an impression.
A.
Alejandra-
That seems like a legit assesment of the show I saw as well, I am terrible with names and missplaced my program, but when I get it I will share the performers names.
I don't think this was discussed here but I wanted to mention that I'm very excited about the new Off-Broadway musical The Great American Trailer Park Musical. It has a great cast, headed by Orfeh, and one of the characters is named Norbert.
I listened to DRS for the first time in a long time today and I must say that the opening number has really grown on me, it's a much better song than I thought after I first saw the show. And I noticed this the first time I heard the CR but I thought I'd bring it up. At the end of the finale, they sing "dirty rotten guys like uuuuuus", but they don't sing "us" in the show. I feel a bit cheated that I don't get that ending note in the show. Why have it on the recording but not in the show?
I saw The Pillowman on Thursday night and I let out a little squeal of joy(which made the French tourist couple next to me roll their eyes and call me mean names with their outrageous accents) when I saw that there was a Norbert quiz in the August playbill. Pics of him in DRS, Thou Shalt Not, Rent, L5Y, Cabaret, and Wicked with questions about his roles.
gavrochegirl: Buy the cd!!!
Thespian Geek is staying with me this week, and she says I should post here more often.
So, hi!

Hi Gav, I've been in North Carolina. and where I was there was little internet access.
If you see this Emcee tell Thespian Geek hi for me, its funny to think we are all within minutes of each other.
I did not win the DRS lottery, it was really crowded.
Saw Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolfe and loved it instead.
Also saw the off-off broadway Merrily We Roll Along tonight. I love the music but it had some major issues in staging and chemistry/charisma.
Well I'll probably try DRS again on Tuesday.
Did you see The Pillowman b/f you left? If you did, is Bill Irwin's performance better than Billy Crudup's? Pillowman is the only play I've seen this season but it's hard to believe any performance is better that Mr. Crudup's.
Pillowman is Wednesday for me. I'll tell you then. Irwin set the bar very, very high though.
The Pillowman is amazing, you'll be left speechless! I'm seriously thinking of going back. Maybe this Wed mat, don't know. This is the first experience in the theatre I've had where I've laughed so hard, been absolutely shocked and horrified, and so attracted to the leading man. Yes, kiddies, The Pillowman has everything.
Oh how fun Thespian Geek.
That is a really good plan as well, front row is not to be missed.
Hope I see you there!
Well I have no idea what I'll wear, but my hair is enormous and I wear small square tortoise shell glasses. If you see a guy with seriously big hair, but who still looks kind of silly (you might say like a large penguin who is a professor of philosophy) that would be me
oh, wow, i JUST discovered this cuz i'm slow and stupid.
hi, my name's jamie! i usually post at the Greg Jbara Love Thread, so, if you've been there, you've most likely seen me!
ahem, anyways, yeah. um...norb story. okay, well, he was the only reason why i bought DRS tickets, and when i went to go see it on July 9, i was so excited, dreaming about FINALLY seeing my broadway god on stage. i even stayed up the night before, getting chills when i realized that i was REALLY gonna see him. in the flesh, and not in a little box called a computer.
but then...i opened the beautiful playbill..and...well...it said that norb wasn't there. but, his u/s, joe, was REALLY good, so i was still happy!
ah, but i'll meet him one day, i'm sure! :)
Your name is Jamie. Hehehehe, very cool. Sorry you missed Norbert in DRS, I would've asked for a refund. I went into the Greg thread once to see why it was surpassing so many love threads so quickly but it scared me and I shant return. There was a chick who wanted to marry a virtual chimp. I forsee a very interesting episode of Jerry Springer.
Hello Movie/Jamie and welcome,
what do the Greg threaders do that is so crazy? I only stopped by once to pay respects to Greg.
I'm glad you stayed for the show, as much as I love Norbert the show is very good anyway and any exposure to the genre is good for you.
I'm sure you will meet him someday, he is very nice, although shy.
You can't get refunds or exchanges but when people go to see a show for a certain star like Hugh in The Boy from Oz and he's out you can demand a refund, I think. I would make a big stink if Norbert was out when I went to DRS. I'd demand a refund b/c I wouldn't enjoy myself without him, especially when paying $100 per ticket.
I actually want to see it without him now to see how someone else plays the part. I've never actually spent that much for a ticket though.
That's b/c you have the luck of the Irish...or the penguin or whatever. I've only won a lotto once, for Spelling Bee.
Well I am of Irish decent and a penguin so I guess I have both.
I did lose again on Sunday though. I have won my share for all the shows though, I can not complain.
Hi everybody--There are some pics of Norbs and Michelle at the Actor's Fund performance of "Pillowman". They look great, not so sure about the hat on Norbs, though!
ooh, do you have a link!? i'd LOVE to see them!
ah, i'll just google them up, i suppose. :)
YAY! Norbert's Ask a Star on broadway.com is finally up! *off to read*
Ok, this one has got to be my favorite:
From Mark Setlock: Have you gotten into the habit of bathing once a week? I know you professional dancers can really get ripe.
Norbert: Thank you Mark. By professional dancer I assume you are referring to my recent Fred Astaire award? It depends on the role, really, how much one should bathe... Freddy is a little dirtbag. A real street hustler. Sometimes I'll let a couple weeks go by before doing a real thorough cleaning. You know, just to keep it authentic. I'm all about keeping it real on stage, Mark. Now Fiyero in Wicked...he's a prince. A real smooth ladies man. I made sure I did a full body scrub once a week. The ladies like a fresh prince. So, you know, you just go with your gut instinct about these things. Every actor is different.
LMAO!!!
