I adore Winnie the Pooh, but I'd never before realized just how wise he is.

A few of my favorites:
"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you."
"It is more fun to talk with someone who doesn't use long, difficult words but rather short, easy words like "What about lunch?""
"My spelling is Wobbly. It's good spelling but it Wobbles, and the letters get in the wrong places."
Kind of related, but there's some book that discusses the Eastern philosophies evident in the Pooh stories as well.

The Tao of Pooh, skittles. It's a good read. I believe The Te of Piglet also exists.
I'm a big fan of the A. A. Milne books. I love the original Disney movie as well, but nothing quite compares to the understated brilliance of the books.
I'm sorry to say that I don't think I've ever actually read all of Winnie the Pooh. I know I've read parts of one of the books. I really should do that.
Thank you. I looked it up and was about to come edit my post.
A professor of mine was Buddhist and really liked that book. He even had a tattoo of Pooh.

He even had a tattoo of Pooh.
Heh. That's hardcore devotion! I suppose it's a bit trite, but I think we'd all improve our lives if we could learn to live each day a little bit more like Pooh.
Elphie, you're never too old. Go read!
I will! But not tonight. I just finished reading about animal reproduction. My brain is too full to read. I'll do it...tomorrow.

"Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known."
Winnie the Pooh
Now that's a good one.
I adore Winnie the Pooh. He is so wise and so cute and cuddly.

"I coughed!"
"You bounced!"
Well...I sort of...boughed."
That is my favorite Pooh quote of all time. It's not very wise, but it always makes me smile. I've been a fan of these books my entire life. They're fantastic!
i love the original book. i read it for the first time 2 years ago. it's so much fun!
Did anyone watch the old Disney series Welcome to Pooh Corner? I loved that show!
Huge Pooh fan. I loved the Tao of Pooh, didn't quite get into the Te of Piglet, though.
Is Welcome to Pooh Corner the one with the scary anamatronic puppets or whatever? Every time I even channel surf past that show when it's on, I get freaked out. That would have terrified me as a child.
I had the books and I also had the records to go along with the books. My favorite story is when Pooh dresses up like a rain cloud.
Piglet sidled up to Pooh from behind.
"Pooh!" he whispered.
"Yes, Piglet?"
"Nothing," said Piglet, taking Pooh's paw. "I just wanted to be sure of you."
The Complete Tales of Winnie-the-Pooh and The Complete Poems of Winnie-the-Pooh are two books which are ALWAYS in my bedside table... Reading Pooh just makes everything better.

I used a quote from Pooh with my friend in a senior add that said, "We'll be friends until forever, just you wait and see." Thought it was cute. I love Pooh!
That was my signature for a while, Ashley!
Skittles, are you're referring to "The Book of Pooh?" I tried watching that but it looked like the retarded Welcome to Pooh Corner.
I guess...they probably were anamatronic. When I was younger they were big, so I thought everyone but Roo were actually in those costumes, moving the eyes and stuff...but that's kind of silly looking back.
Anyway, IMO, they were not at all scary. I even remember some of the songs they would sing...Eeyore's "Don't Say Can't," Pooh's "The Right Side of The Bed." Tigger's "Tiggers Go Up," and ooh...Rabbit had a magic song but I don't remember how it went.
But that was my first influence to Pooh and created a big misconception. Piglet's voice if nothing else was played by a girl. So I always thought piglet was female, but pooh often called him he. I still feel like Piglet's a girl sometimes.
Rabbit's song:
Try a little something new
Try a little something different
Try a little something no one else has done
Take a little different view
Try a little something new
That's a little magic trick to having fun, fun, fun, fun
That's a little magic trick to having fun.
Oh, God, I can't believe I remember that. And Dumbo's Circus.
Wow, go Calvin! I'm not sure I could remember the whole song from the ones I mainly remember. I know Piglet had a song...
Yup, Dumbo's Circus was on right after Welcome to Pooh Corner--I loved both! Those characters are a bit harder to remember--let's see...well Dumbo and Lionel, the koala ringmaster, Lillian, Barnaby(he was piano playing gorilla right?), Sebastian...then they had...oh man after every episode Lionel was...somewhere. Well, they had those two puppet twins who always hit each other.
Welcome to Pooh corner always went to Pooh's thoughtful spot at the end of each episode; at least I remember that! Okay I'll add some fun memories:
Well, well, welcome to you
And how do you do
Everybody's waiting here at Pooh Corner
Waiting for you
And Winnie the Pooh
to have a happy hoop-tee-doo time
Gloomy old eeyore nods his head
He worries away the time
"Thanks for noticing me."
Owl makes his speeches long and loud
Without any reason or rhyme
"I once had my Uncle on my father's side, my Uncle Orville that is...who often said to me.."
While Rabbit is busy pulling weeds
His carrots grow tall and sweet
Kanga's baking pies and cakes
And little Roo's waiting to eat
And Piglet's forever cleaning house
He's doing his daily sweep
"What a-what a-what a mess."
Tigger keeps bouncing up and down
Perfecting his tiggerly leap
"This is tiggeriffic!"
And here comes...Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh
Fluffly little...words I know but don't know how to spell them, you know those words
Winnie the Pooh
Winnie the Pooh
Willy Nilly Silly Old Bear
"Well, well welcome to you
And Winnie the Pooh
Everybody's waiting here at Pooh Corner
Waiting for you
And me, Winnie the Pooh
To have a happy whoop-tee-doo time"
Let's have a happy whoop-tee-doo time
Dumbo's Circus
Flying out of the sky
You've never seen another show like this
Dumbo's circus
To see an elephant fly
Is something that you really shouldn't miss
Dumbo's circus
Flying from town to town
Now here's the part that's too good to be true
Dumbo's circus
Dumbo's circus
Is coming to visit--
You won't want to miss it
Coming to visit you!

How strange, I was actually looking at A. A. Milne quotes today.
For some reason, I like these:
"When you wake up in the morning, Pooh," said Piglet at last,
"What's the first thing you say to yourself?"
"What's for breakfast?" said Pooh. "What do you say, Piglet?"
"I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" said Piglet. Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.
“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together...there is something you must always remember. you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. but the most important thing is, even if we're apart...I'll always be with you.”
"Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day."
Also, on a related note, Snoopy has good quotes also:
“Why can't we get all the people together in the world that we really like and then just stay together? I guess that wouldn't work. Someone would leave. Someone always leaves. Then we would have to say good-bye. I hate good-byes. I know what I need. I need more hellos.”
“Are you upset little friend? Have you been lying awake worrying? Well, don't worry...I'm here. The flood waters will recede, the famine will end, the sun will shine tomorrow, and I will always be here to take care of you. - Charlie Brown to Snoopy
“I feel sorry for someone who has to win at everything.”

I love all things Pooh related, particularly if they are in book form. When I was little I would read my aunt's copy of The Tao of Pooh just because it had quotes from the real books in it (which I had read numerous times). I eventually nicked it and got my introduction to Taoism.
Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh
tubby little cubby all stuffed with fluff,
it's Winnie the Pooh, Winnie the Pooh
willy nilly silly ol'bear.....
He's such an adorable little guy.
