^The fact that he isn't does make him a more interesting character...from what I've seen...it seems he takes the extremes both ways...I could be wrong though
Mind you, I haven't seen every episode of every season...I've picked up some stuff along the way though

I think Rumple wants to be in control more than he wants to be good or bad. And, if having control means doing good or bad things, he's fine with either. That's why, as Hook pointed out, he can't even relinquish control to his true love, Belle.
With Regina and her possibly evil-leaning mission this season, I feel like she's similar to a long-standing alcoholic whose drink has been accidentally spiked. When her happiness was squashed by Marian and, by extension, Emma, it was like having that little bit of evil back.

Posted: 10/12/14 at 10:38pmI was bored tonight and I really did not want to see the show since last week was such a mess, but I went ahead and watched it. It was a million times better than last week and this Snow Queen seems to have lots of answers about people's pasts.

Just caught up o last weeks. lots of things made me roll my eyes. But one thing really bothered me.
After Charming knocks out two of Bo Peep's guards, are we supposed to accept that as a victory against her and her ARMY?! Did she just sit back down in her gazebo after that and say, "oh well, that's the end of my evil warlord reign of terror." Where is the rest of her army?!?! We saw at least another day there where they wandered around, apparently unmolested by Peep.

Next time, make your sure your writers do a better job with the episodes, ABC. Last week's was a train wreck.

I thought this episode was fine...nothing special...I wasn't really paying much attention to it...if anything it just sets up the next episode
I wanted to see the Snow Queen (did we see her this episode...I wasn't really paying attention)
So, the whole Anna thing that was set up to seem like a big deal in this episode...really wasn't a big deal
I loved the Disney nod at the end
Can't wait for next episode...especially:
Elsa: (chained up) What are you going to do?
Snow Queen: I'm gonna build a snowman...

We saw the Snow Queen for a split second when she was following Emma. They made eye contact but the Snow Queen never spoke.
Any episode without Regina/Robin is not interesting to me

Tonight's episode was boring.
I think one of this season's biggest problems is the lack of a compelling, frightening, villain. Season 1 gave us the Evil Queen, season 2 gave us Cora (the strongest villain the show has ever had), season 3 gave us a clunker in Peter Pan, but redeemed itself the second half of the season with the Wicked Witch.
This year, the Ice Queen/ Ice Cream Lady just isn't doing it.
It seems like without a good villain, theres nothing to fight for- none of th stories are all that interesting because the stakes are so low.

Last night's episode was fine. It was not outstanding, but it was nowhere near of a the train-wreck that episode 2 of this season was.

At least there's Maleficent to look forward to in the second half of this season.

I actually liked this episode a lot. I tuned in about 21 minutes late, so I missed some context, but all of my context confusion got cleared up later.
I'm really liking the Snow Queen character, but I do wish that her motives weren't so blatant and clear "a family that loves me"....if they were going that angle I think they should have waited for the reveal, or worded so that weren't so cliche

Posted: 10/26/14 at 10:33pmI feel that the show is starting to get a little better. The Snow Queen's motives are indeed blatant, but I am curious to find out about her history as Emma's foster mother. I was glad to see Regina and Emma starting to put aside their differences and that Regina is indeed not the same person she was back in season 1.

Posted: 10/26/14 at 10:51pmI find the Snow Queen story boring this season, and it is unfortunate that it is so story-consuming that we didn't even have Rumple tonight. I personally loved the Neverland arc (mostly because of Robbie's acting and his eyebrows), and I thought Rebecca Mader was really good at Zelena. And now we have a sleepy Elizabeth Mitchell in an all-fitting gown wanting a loving family? I mean, can we not have a big bad that is more bad than Rumple on his better days?

Posted: 10/26/14 at 11:31pmIt kind of reminds me of the old Batman series with the revolving door of villains. The weeks with a good villain like Catwoman, Penguin, Riddler, Joker, or King Tut were great. But then some weeks you got someone unthreatening like Archer, Minstrel, Zelda, or Louie the Lilac.

The Snow Queen's motives are just too bizarre. She only wants there to be three powerful sorceresses: Elsa, Emma, and herself. She's going to try to have everyone else destroy themselves until it is just those three left.
De Ravin is weak as Belle, which is unfortunate. She had potential in the beginning, but she's not a believable or strong character. That is probably what they wanted when they created this version of Belle, but it really does not work because the Belle in the Disney movie is head-strong, courageous, passionate, and spirited. De Ravin's Belle is the exact opposite.

Awful episode.
The Frozen stuff is just so shoe-horned in. This show's creator's and writers are notoriously meticulous for planning things out long in advance (it's the same team that gave us Lost, after all). However, this season is the result when ABC/Disney tells them, "Make the Frozen characters a prominent part of next season" and gives them no time to prepare. It's all very rushed and not all that compelling.

I like Elizabeth Mitchell's quiet, whispery-yet-evil delivery.
But do they have to put her in a gown that pushes up her bosom, AND show the contents thereof in camera angles right down her front side, like they did last night? I mean, this is 7pm (CST, 8p elswhere). It's Family Hour. Or don't we have that, anymore...?

Posted: 11/4/14 at 8:08amI quite liked this episode. Maybe it's because I have nothing to compare it to (like the earlier seasons), but I tune in every Sunday, and I enjoy it...
Once Upon a Time #1098
Posted: 11/4/14 at 8:59amI watched the season premiere but haven't tuned in since. Doesn't seem like I'm missing much. Is there really a compelling reason for me to watch these episodes or just delete them from my DVR and wait for Maleficent?
Once Upon a Time #1099
Posted: 11/4/14 at 9:23amI like Elizabeth Mitchell's delivery too, lovepuppy. I think she's doing the best she can with what the writers/creators are giving her.
