I have not seen that many movies this year, and those I have seen haven't been all that good. So can someone please help me out with some information? Please mention some fine performances by minority actors, so I can catch up on them? Thanks!

If you haven't seen Tangerine, SEE TANGERINE. I believe it's streaming, but Santa got us the Blu-Ray so we can watch it every Xmas Eve.

I completely agree with TANGERINE. While you may look at the Oscar nominated films and think, "Where is the forward-thinking work?", this thoroughly delightful ray of sunshine delivers what could be the future of cinema.

I watched Tangerine as the loser in a rental-house vote. And I found it beautiful, funny, moving, and artful.

TANGERINE was easily one of the muttha fukkin best films I saw this year! It resonated with me on every level. I know those people. I related to those people. It is a brilliant movie! F.U. Academy Awards!

I'll have to add TANGERINE to my queue. It's not something that I'd ordinarily watch but I've become much more open minded since joining bww. A good story is a good fukkin story.

TANGERINE was good, much better than I was expecting.
I'm so disappointed that Paul Dano and Jason Segel weren't nominated for their splendid work in LOVE AND MERCY and END OF THE TOUR, offering finely observed performances of real nuance and depth as Brian Wilson and David Foster Wallace respectively, while DiCaprio was nominated and will probably win for 160 minutes of spitting fake blood and crawling through snow in THE REVENANT.

I demand some gay actors to be nominated next year as well as some 70+ actors.
12% of the population is gay and 12% is 70+.
So I want to see them nominated, otherwise it is discrimination.
We all know that being gay, age, or any other personal aspect deserves a nomination in itself.

Talk about omissions re nominations, how about Steve Carell in The Big Short & Michael Keaton in Spotlight?
There are only 5 open slots and tons of great performances. Sadly many do not get nominations. This is simply the way it is. Life ain't fair and that is the way it is.

It's also the way it is that people who do the choosing have a strong tendency to choose the nominees most like themselves. Life ain't fair. But it's historically and repeatedly more fair to some than others.

I would have voted for all these actors.
