Which would be better for a headshot?...Both of them still need editing and resizing...Just wondering which one looks better.

Posted: 10/9/06 at 11:06amDo you have an agent? If you do, I would advise asking their opinion. Personally though as far as headshots go, I'd prefer the 1st if you were smiling in it.

I like the second one (where you're leaning on your arms). Your hands looks very awkward in the first shot. =)
For what it's worth, if these are your first headshots, you've done a heck of alot better than I did!! I got mine done by a local photog in NJ back when I was 16...I looked like a deer caught in headlights. AND I wore a black turtleneck with a black background...I looked like a floating head. :-P

Posted: 10/9/06 at 11:30amThey are good for first head shots--i think the 2nd one is better because it isn't as dark and you can see the whole face--next time, you'll likely want them to be much brighter and more youthful--it seems like a shot for a solo instrumentalist, not an actor.

Posted: 10/9/06 at 11:51amPersonally, I'm a firm believer in two headshots - one smiling and fun/one slightly more serious, with different clothes and/or backgrounds. But if I had to choose one of those, I would go with the first because the pose and facial expression are more versatile and could be used for a variety of characters. The second is a little too Picture Day at school for me (all it is missing is your Senior Ring) and the third looks like you are blind in one eye. I don't mind the shadowing in your face in the first photo at all. We can still see your eyes and enough of your face is lit to show your features, but the shadow combined with your expression, which shows a smile in your eyes rather than completely in the mouth, gives it a broader range of mood and emotion. The only problem I really have is the black shirt against such a dark background. The photographer should have caught that and gone with a lighter background. But it is still a good and useable headshot.

I pretty much directed the shoot, and i have tons of other pics that turned out really great, but these are the ones that work best as headshots. :)

second one. Although, for some reason, your hands look awkward in
both the first and second.
The third one you look hunched over and it looks as if you have a third hand (in the middle) although I know it is your jeans.

I just needed to re-state my vote for the second shot. I think it's by far the best of the three. And here's a little crop to show how you can eliminate the "Picture Day" factor MisterMatt said he had a problem with.
The other two both have far too much shadow on your face, and even if that weren't an issue, the first one won't crop well because your hands are so high and close to your face. IMHO. =)

They all are DISGUSTING!!!! YUCK!!!
Just kidding...
I think I like the second one better. The first one looks more interesting but the second one is more suitable for a headshot...
