Anyone seeing it this weekend?
Stockard...sweetie...put the wine bottle down and check imdb.com
LOL
This is the one where Anna Kendrick sings to a chair, right?
Awful film. Screened for months. Do not waste your time and $12-14.00.
I was going to see it this morning since for the first day in over a week I was feeling better, but I realized END OF WATCH started and I hadn't seen it yet so obviously I rushed to that. (It was fantastic, by the way)
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I just knew Clint Eastwood's new movie had to do with baseball, so the word "pitch" threw me. I was thinking of pitching a ball. Shows you how much attention I pay to the commercials of movies with Clint Eastwood in them.
I mean a movie with Amy Adams and Justin Timberlake as co-stars does not make that far-fetched there would be singing in a movie. And Clint Eastwood did.... whatever he did in PAINT YOUR WAGON.
A good friend of mine is in this so I'm pretty excited to see it even though I think I'm going to hate it... It will definitely be a 420 event.
Its comparisons have it more as Bring it On than Glee if that helps soothe matters, though I've also read it seems to be more Rebel Wilson's movie than Anna Kendrick's.
I feel like a lot of movies will be more Rebel Wilson's movie than anyone else's.
Saw it last night. It's actually pretty fun. It's less a movie about acapella groups and more just a conventional youth movie that uses acapella singing as sort of its gimmick for being unique. It is actually genuinely funny (thanks to Rebel Wilson and Elizabeth Banks) and Anna Kendrick is so damn charismatic. Even with earrings running up and down her ears and heavy eyeliner, she's still more glamour girl than "alternative," though, as they kind of paint her to be. The songs, while autotuned within an inch of their lives, are actually really creative and the audience I was with (a packed 500 seat theatre) ate them up. They even applauded a few times. Is it worth the hype? No, not really. But it is a fun movie and it will probably do very well.
Saw it last night too! I've been excited about this movie for months since Skylar is in it, but kept my expectations low just in case. It was actually a pretty fun movie! Rebel Wilson had the best lines!
I actually found Astin to be one of the weak links in the cast. He's got a gorgeous voice, but something about his performance didn't work for me. I felt that Anna Kendrick practically devoured him in every scene.
THIS MOVIE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!
As Martha would say, you'll bust a gut. Genuinely hilarious and perfectly cast. Each character, no matter how little screentime he or she had, was well-drawn.
This is tracking very well, and if keeps it up next week when it goes wide it will join classics like Mean Girls and Clueless.
SPOILER
The scene with the vomiting and the fight afterwards was one of the funniest I've seen all year.
Re: skylar - it was the first time I've watched him in a movie or tv show where I didn't find him awkward or I wasn't cringing the entire time though.
whizzer- sooooo gross though! and I wonder how the movie did this weekend in terms of grosses...
For a limited release, it's numbers were pretty great. In 335 theaters it made $5.2 million its opening weekend.

I like Stockard's idea! I have a meeting Wednesday to pitch my script for "Trouble with the Perfect Pitch":
"Clint Eastwood stars as a crusty but lovable swing choir coach who comes out of retirement to try to lead his school to one last national championship. But there's trouble between Clint and the popular student teacher (Zac Efron) who clash over the Harold Arlen medley Clint wants to build the performance around. But friction leads to passion between the unlikely pair and they have to keep their blossoming relationship a secret from the gang- and Clint has to learn to sing a new tune to make this May-December romance work"
Yes, the numbers were terrific for such a limited release, and the cinemascore was an A, so it should have pretty good word of mouth.
I saw four movies this weekend (Looper, Won't Back Down, Pitch Perfect and Hyde Park on Hudson) and Pitch Perfect was by far my favorite and the one I will probably go back to see sometime during the week.

Glad to see it's getting positive notices and good business. I adore Anna Kendrick and am looking forward to see this on my next day off on Sunday.

As the saying goes and goes, "There are good movies, bad movies and fabulous movies, as in 'Oh, you have to see Pitch Perfect. Its fabulous'"
You cannot measure movies that are meant to be nothing more than merely 'fabulous' by an ordinary yardstick. I knew what I was getting when I walked into the theatre and Pitch Perfect scored in spades.
At the AMC Empire in NY the theatre was full of young women and gay men who comprise the perfect audience for all films fabulous.
Rebel Wilson recreates her audition
$5.2M that is pretty good!! I'm glad. I hope it continues through this coming weekend when it actually opens.
