I really don't think that the amendment has a big chance of really happening, personally.
It doesn't matter. It's the principle of things. It's that Bush will choose Supreme Court Justices that will not be gay friendly. It's that Bush hasn't done a thing for gay Americans. That you could vote for a man who says that you are not to be equal in this country.

True, but I believe Bush has a personal agenda (because of his extreme religious beliefs) against gays and he won't let his "traditional family" issues die.
void--if we followed that path of thought, why would there even need to be a MESSAGE BOARD?
Besides the fact that the you and the Lady came into the thread to post opposing views in the first place.

Oh, I don't mind the debate, it's good. Variety is good- same opinions aren't.

You don't vote on one issue - it must be the wonderful way we've gone to war on terrrorism. Oh, wait, we attacked the wrong country. And spent billions doing it.
It must be Bush's wonderful way of handling our economics. Oh, wait, our country has a huge deficit, less jobs and a huge tax cut for the wealthy.
Education - wrong , he's done a poor job at that.
I'm stumped.
But as a proud gay man , this administration has done nothing but attack the gay and lesbian community, So, Lady G - Shame ON You - I really do feel sorry for you.

Go ahead! That's all your type of Democrat does- feel sorry for Republicans. ENJOY that way of life, and vote Kerry.

Well, of course I meant whoever has their heart set...swing voters can PM me.
And Lady G - enjoy being a member of a political party that is totally homophobic. Maybe there is a jewish nazi in here to tell you what that means.

I must add that I've had a lovely PM discussion (no sarcasm) with LG and at least she is educated on the issues and has reasons for her views. Please don't insult others just because they don't share their view. Agree to disagree, and enjoy the discussion/debate!

Oh my God. You so totally changed my mind.
Not.
EDIT: That's to Marc, who obviously has nothing to do but sit here and attack me. Do you REALLY think that I'm going to change my vote? I didn't make my decisions by pulling them out of a hat.

But, sincerely, that IS the debate!
So, do tell - if you don't care that the president is homophobic and attacking us , what specifically has he done to warrant support?

I'm interjecting a lot tonight...yay.
Uh, just thought I'd point out...how do you know that George Bush is homophobic? You can be against gay marriage and not be homophobic at the same time, I think.
For the record, I don't want Bush or Kerry to be President. I think it's time we had an effeminate, gay president.

hey hey- no fighting!
LG can have her view, and the rest of us can have ours.
We can disagree all we want, go vote for whoever you want!
LG as long as your educated on the issues, I respect you completely. I just don't understand how if you love gay men so much (my other thread lol) how you can vote for a man barring rights for them. But that's a personal question.
When it all comes down to it, everyone should just VOTE. :)

Preventing other people from living and alternate lifestyle isn't just homophobic....it's against the principles of this nation.
If you are against gay marriages, you are against gays. PERIOD. Bigotry is bigotry. You don't get a flex pass just because you have gay "friends".
Lady G. - you said you don't vote for just one issue - I'm asking for any specific reason you are supporting Bush that would override the GOP platforms position on rights of gay and lesbian unions. Any reason.

I understand what you mean, Matt and jrb, but you're saying that he fears gay men. I think it makes more sense to say "George Bush doesn't like gay men," than to say "George Bush is scared of gay men."
But, if you mean he really is scared of gay people...well, you know what homophobia really means.

Sorry, I didn't intend it as he's "scared of gays". I just don't know a term for hatred of gays....except KKK :-P
well, that is possibly true. But "homophobia" is often used to imply anti-gay. I try to make the distinction as there is indeed a difference.

I'm an American. I deliberatly live here because I want to be as equal to the next straight guy. With a president like Bush, how can I be? I won't be. I atleast should be in his eyes, if not in the entire country's.
I honestly beleive that if the amendment is passed, one bathroom door will say "GAY MEN" and the other will say "STRAIGHT MEN" in the next...oh, fifty years. or maybe five. Which-ever one, it shouldn't happen.
Come on people. You can agree with Bush, that's fine. But on an issue like our own equality to the next heterosexual, we have to agree. I don't agree with Bush on his "traditional family" view. Sure it's traditional, but some people aren't. We should be able to live the way we feel. That's what America is about.
F*CK you all. I'm voting for Kerry. Atleast he says he'll let us be equal.
