Luna is back at the vet. She was drinking water and she voided but she was still refusing food with the exception of the few Pounce treats.

Thinking good thoughts for Luna.

For many of us, Pets are four-legged family members (me included) so I understand completely.

I just got off the phone with my mom. The vet wants to talk to her but can't now because she's going into surgery. If it was bad news she wouldn't make us wait, right?

Well, my hope for that has just been blown.

The biopsy came back and it is cancer. She's also anemic and her white blood cell count is up. Not crazy high but up. The doctor is going to do an exploratory surgery to see if she's bleeding internally. She looked good yesterday but does not look good today

Eris, I believe if it was that critical she wouldn't let you wait. I'm sure she wants to go over options. They like to prepare us pet owners for all different scenarios when they release our pets back into our care. I'm sending only good vibes to Luna.

Luna is out of surgery. The doctor cleaned out some blood clots and noted that her liver is fatty. Also, her lymph node is swollen and the doctor is not sure if that's cancer is fluid yet. The doctor feels that the cancer will come back and we have some time left but not years.

So sorry the news is not better! As long as she is not suffering, I hope you all enjoy her while she's with you. When you see her, give her head a scratch for me!

Got to sit with Luna for a bit tonight since the vet stays up until 7 on Tuesdays. It was so obvious she had no energy. She was just content to rest cuddled against either me or my mother. They let us put her back in the cage ourselves. When I walked away she started talking to me. It was just two squeaks but it was good to hear her vocalizing. And I know she was saying "Don't leave me here"

I am so sorry Eris hang in there. I know how much my pets mean to me, and I cannot imagine how hard this would be.

I cried pretty much all day at work. Just sitting at my desk working with tears streaming down my face.

Word is she's doing better than yesterday. The vet is open late on Thursdays so I'll get to visit with her after work. I'm hoping she improves every day so that she can come home. She's been at the vet since last Monday with the exception of that short overnight here.

I totally get it, too...how difficult it is when our animals get old and sick. Do what you can for as long as she is still getting even a little bit of joy out of life. And as hard as it is to acknowledge, it's also nice to know that you can lovingly end her suffering when it is time. And may she have a lot more time....
