My twelve year old tortie had a tumor the size of a golf ball removed today. The tumor burst her intestine and now all we can do is wait for the biopsy to come back. I know some people say that she's "just a pet" but Luna is family. She is the sweetest, most loving cat I've ever met. Seeing her go through this is breaking my heart.

Just a pet, are you shi**ing me?
Not just a pet?... I mourned a year for my member's name namesake, who at the ripe old age of 20 died of congestive heart failure (five years ago).... His balloon knot picture, a tribute to how he expressed his opinion to people was deleted by BWW.com !
I hope everything turns out for the best. x to Luna
We happen to think our little Esme is so much more than a pet. I understand completely. We're praying for little Luna.
Love and prayers for Luna, Eris.
Just a pet, are you shi**ing me?
Someone in my office said that to me and I tried so hard not to snap.
Thank you so much, guys. Hopefully I'll be getting the call that I can bring her home today.
Thankfully our vet's office has a "visiting room" so that people can sit with their pets who had surgery and aren't going home just yet. We were able to sit with her for about half an hour last night. Luna was very listless (as anyone would be after surgery) but was happy to see us. She loves to snuggle and kept snuggling against as. When the vet came in to check on us Luna hid her face my the crook of my arm and didn't lift her head until the vet left. It was nice to see her personality shining through the discomfort she must be feeling.
There's no "just" when it comes to somebody you love.
Wishing Luna all the best.
I'm adding my voice to those praying for Luna and her family.
I'm sorry to hear about your cat. She is in my thoughts.
And I totally disagree with your co-worker who said that a pet is just a pet. No matter how long you have them, as long as you love them, they are family. I still have a foster cat from a shelter I volunteer with, and I would be devastated if anything bad happened to her.
OMG if anyone said "just a pet" to me about my baby Jezebel, I would do more than just snap. I totally relate to you and Luna, hoping for the best~
Sending thoughts and prayers and a great big hug for Luna.
Well, she's not coming home today. The vet reports that she's bright, alert, and doing well but they want to keep her one more day and get some more fluids into her.
And while I do understand that she's better off in the hands of the vet and her staff I still wish I could have her home. And I know she is wishing the same thing.

It is going to be a long night for you, but Luna will be feeling much better tomorrow and glad to be home.
Anyone who has ever loved a 'pet' understands... no need to explain!
Pets are beloved members of the family.
Sending you good thoughts, hugs and prayers.

oh, poor bebe kittycat
scritchy, scritchy under your chin, Luna
may you feel frisky soon
Pets are family! I do not know what I would do without my cat and dog. Hoping she makes a speedy recovery!
My brother came down from Weehawken to take care of a few things and while he was here he stopped by the vet's office to see Luna.
They's not letting her go just yet but she's keeping down solid food. Not only was she happy to see him but she became agitated when the vet came to take her away - yowling and hissing. Obviously, she wants to go home. They want to get more food into her before they let her go. Hopefully she'll be ready by the time get out of work.
Hopefully she'll be back home , where she belongs, by the weekend. *prays for Luna*

all the best to Luna
Luna did not come home tonight. She's not on solid foods yet so they didn't want to let her go

Luna is home. The doctor wants to see her again tomorrow morning though. She adores my mom so we put her in there. We don't want her wandering around the house or going up and down the stairs just yet so we moved her bed, some food, and an extra litter box into my mom's room. We also want to keep her way from Storm, our 6 year old tortie, who hissed the moment she saw Luna back in the house.
The vet gave me some wet food (usually Luna eats dry). Luna seemed uninterested when I put it out so I put out some of her usual food thing she didn't want it because she didn't recognize that. She hasn't touched that but she has eaten a few pieces of seafood flavored Pounce out of my hand.
