The Razzies tend to at least nominate films that had positive buzz (even briefly) but bombed critically, so I think Rent and Memoirs of a Geisha are prime contenders for nominations. I did see Memoirs again last night and cracked up over a few lines more than I did the last time: "What are you doing in my room? Get out of my room!" "Who wants a PLUM that somebody has already BITTEN OUT OF? Hahahaha!" "Don't touch my things! YOUR FINGERS STINK!" "You are not making money just standing there GAWKING!" "I am not worthless! I AM NOT WORTHLESS!" Sad thing is that these lines have been read as campy yet are perfect for the moments in the film and do not dominate it anyway. But again, the Razzies like to nominate films that had great buzz but bombed critically. Alexander was among the nominees last year.
I disagree. I don't think GEISHA and RENT are something the Razzies would go for at all. They go for complete abominations, not things that could have been better.

Hey, Michael Chiklis was actually okay, especially considering the material he was working with. He managed to emote while dressed up as a giant orange rock, guys. :)
Well many people think both Rent and Memoirs of a Geisha could have been A LOT better. The word "camp" has been used to describe both. I'm just spreading the good (bad) word.
ETA: Another past nominee with high pedigree was The Last Temptation of Christ (Harvey Keitel). I don't think Memoirs deserves Razzie nods; I'm just considering that, in past years, there has been a mix of films that were thought to have great potential and films that everyone knew would flop. Memoirs is already benefiting from a strong box office performance in limited release, however.

The Razzies absolutely adore musicals -- supposedly PHANTOM just missed out last year, so it is conceivable that RENT could make the line up:
If I were voting, I'd probably nominate RENT for:
Worst Picture
Worst Director
Worst Screenplay
Worst Actor (Adam Pascal)
Worst on Screen Duo: Anthony Rapp and his camera
But before the RENTheads start screaming - I dont think any of the above will happen. BEWITCHED and AEON FLUX will be dominate.

worst director and adapted screenplay (is that a razzie category or do they combine original and adapted?) should go to Rent. Both were a joke. And finally someone comes out and says it, Adam Pascal is a terrible actor.

What about Gus Van Sant's execreble LAST DAYS?
Last Days got pretty good reviews. I'm not crazy about it, myself, but I don't think it'll get nominated.

Anyone who thought Last Days was a good movie is afraid to admit their hatred of the experience for fear of being called stupid. There was no reason to make it and there is no reason to watch it. Cobain deserved better than that.
That's art for ya: Some hate it, some love it.

And that's what makes art so fascinating, even when it's stained with turds like LAST DAYS.

I've actually seen stained turds in a gallery - and someone bought it.
