'Swept Away’ to Close on Broadway December 15 Dec 6
2024, 12:10:06 PM
Of course, it's always sad when talented actors like John Gallagher Jr and scores of actors, technicians, and artists lose their jobs in one fell swoop. And it is sad when original pieces of theatre are shuttered while purely commercial ventures see much more immediate, sustained success.
That being said, while I definitely don't regret seeing this production, it didn't resonate with me. The book couldn't have been thinner and the songs, while decently integrated,

CABARET at the Kit Kat Club (2024) Opening Night Critics' Reviews Nov 25

After seeing Smile 2, all I can think of is how earth-shattering Naomi Scott would be as Sally. Fearless actor, dynamic presence, can sing, and she's English.
I am speaking it into existence...

Trump supporters have spent the past eight years saying, "F*** Your Feelings!" and "I love eating liberal tears" and similar things. Yet these are the people you think the left needs to be open-minded and tolerant toward? A dialogue requires two sides wil

Seeing Ragtime last night was so cathartic and much needed. You could feel the palpable energy and fire in the audience, cheering at a bunch of lines that now resonate so differently. Multiple standing ovations. I really hope this transfers.

What a loss. He was such a star. I was fortunate to see him Hair, Waitress, She Loves Me, Hello, Dolly!, and Into the Woods, always excellent.

That is... definitely an opinion. She also won a Golden Globe for "American Horror Story", got an Oscar nomination for her first starring role in a film, and also got strong reviews for House of Gucci.
If that's cringe, I think most actors would be happy with cringe st

To Danya's credit, I didn't realize her connection until after I saw Pass Over and The Outsiders. Even looking at her last name in the Playbill didn't ring any bells. All that I saw were two splendidly calibrated and well-crafted productions.

The Outsiders is the most Genre elevating musical since Hamilton (IMO) Jun 3
2024, 02:04:34 PM
I loved The Outsiders so much more than I expected to going in. It's not perfect, but it has so much heart, the technical aspects are top-notch, the cast is immaculate, and the score is really lovely and evocative, and (unlike many original scores in the last decade or two) has its fair share of melodies that actually stick.

It looks like North had fun, which is good. Her performance was not even close to adequate, and that is not her fault but the fault of the people who allowed it.

THE OUTSIDERS to release cast album on May 22 May 22

So few Broadway musicals in the last decade or two do achingly earnest and open-hearted as well as this one. Really lovely score with more than its fair share of memorable hooks, and great vocals.

Who Are You? May 15
2024, 08:19:53 PM
37 year-old gay male from southern Connecticut. I trained in acting and have been performing on stage for nearly three decades. I work a full-time job outside of the industry, but I've been fortunate to play many, many dreams roles on stages throughout CT and NY. Being in rehearsal for a show/part that I love, and that asks a lot of me, is my happy place. When I see theatre or film, it is through the lens of performance and emotional truth that I can analyze and deconstruct the piece.
