I'm absolutely stunned that When a Stranger Calls didn't get a single nomination.

Poor Lindsay. Not a good week for her. re: Razzie nominations announced

I would have nominated that talent-free waif from WHEN A STRANGER CALLS over Milla Jovivich from ULTRAVIOLET over Lindsay Lohan - not that I actually saw that Lohan movie.

But come on...how could ULTRAVIOLET not get a nomination!!!!!!!!!!!

No one saw Ultraviolet. People saw Lohan. Odd as it may seem.

Was Waiting this year or last? That was the worst movie -- or at least the 10 minutes I saw before turning it off was the worst movie -- that I've seen in several years.

I don't know. Ultraviolet is what the Razzies are all about. Then again, Aeon Flux didn't get anthing last year...

taboo- I was also surprised by Bosworth's nomination. I thought she was miscast, but I didn't think anyone else felt the same way.

Calvin: Waiting? What are you talking about?

Broadway: I agree. I don't like Bosworth. I think she's an awful actress - and I hated her in SUPERMAN. Actually, I didn't like SUPERMAN at all.

Waiting was that awful film with Ryan Reynolds, the ugly guy from Traffic and Justin Long about a bunch of really homophobic waiters. I'm not easily offended, but I didn't last long with this one.

But it's from 2005. I just looked it up.

I thought SUPERMAN RETURNS was overblown and an excuse to use some great special effects; nothing more, nothing less. It was bland, had no story line, and was poorly written.

But I thought Bosworth was fine in it. Definitely not worthy of a Razzie nomination...

Parker Posey was so great in SUPERMAN RETURNS, though. She, and the special effects, were the best parts of the film.

Was I the only one who thought the action sequences in SUPERMAN RETURNS were boring and anti-climactic??

Posey was hilarious! "Wow... that's really something, Lex." I didn't care for the film, but I was impressed by Brandon Routh. He managed to be charming and heroic without being smarmy or winking at the camera. I liked him.

No, you weren't. I thought the whole thing was anti climactic.

Calvin...your lack of puncuation cause me to re-read your post a million times before I even decided that the film you were talking about was called WAITING. What's wrong with you, you're usually so on top of things!!

WAITING was awful, I agree.

I agree about Routh. I thought he was surprisingly good and took an original approach to the role.

I don't think we realize how hard roles like Superman and Spiderman are to play...and no, I'm not joking.

No, I totally agree. It's also why I'm stunned that Daniel Craig isn't getting Oscar buzz for giving new life and humanity to the iconic James Bond. And, like you, I'm not kidding. A shame that they don't really go for that kind of thing.

Well, it's not really a shame considering that when you compare Craig's performance with all the other Oscar actors this year, he doesn't even come out in the top 5 or 6.

I completely agree with broadway86...in fact, I just argued the idea of Craig getting an Oscar nomination in the Oscar predictions thread.

I don't think he'll get a nomination but I think he deserves one.

In every way, his work stands up there with the (potential) Oscar nominees this year. His performance is just as complete, fearless, charismatic, and risky as anyone else's in that category. In fact, maybe even moreso. The critics and audiences (even the skeptics) LOVED him.

I knew from the get-go that he wouldn't get a nomination. My problem was that he wasn't taken seriously by the industry. Updated On: 1/22/07 at 12:39 PM

I don't understand. I'm talking about sheer brilliance and emotion. Let's go down the list.

Craig of Whitaker? Whitaker.

Craig or O'Toole? O'Toole.

Craig or Smith? Smith.

Craig of DiCaprio? DiCaprio.

Craig of Gosling? Gosling.

Craig or Cohen? Craig - I'll give you that.

I agree that he's great - but not every solid performance deserves an Oscar nomination. You have to look at the competition - and you can't tell me that you would drop one of those names in favore of Craig.

I thought Craig was better in CASINO ROYALE than Smith was in HAPPYNESS.

If Smith gets a nomination and is considered worthy of being nominated, Craig should have been more seriously considered too. The Academy seems to think that it's only appropriate to award a performance with crying and gasping for air. There are other great performances being given that don't involve screaming and bawling.

Munk-

Believe it or not, I would place Craig alongside DiCaprio, Whitaker, and Gosling. He was better than Smith, who was also wonderful. Haven't seen Venus.

but not every solid performance deserves an Oscar nomination.

I think the word "extraordinary" applies here.
