watching "Top Gun" when i was 12 or 13 was the instant i realized that i was gay...drool, Tom Cruise, Val Kilmer, and Tom Skerritt, double drool...
Tom is yummy, to me, in almost every movie he's done with the exception of "Born on the 4th of July". I like how he's gotten older and matured but he's still got that impish twinkle in his eyes and that SMILE, ah melt me to a puddle.

I thought the missing sex scene from Katie's new movie was a mix up at the festival where it happened. The film makers even said something about how convenient it would be to blame Cruise, but that is not what happened. And the scene was back in after that initial showing.
I HATED HATED HATED Jerry McGuire. One the WORST movies of the last 20 years.

Posted: 3/17/06 at 12:50pmI've never seen Jerry Maguire. Ugly children trying to be passed off as cute annoy me. But it spawned enough catchphrases for me to know it must be terrible.

Posted: 3/17/06 at 12:53pmIt was a mix up with the reels (or something) after a last minute editing session done under pressure to get the film ready to show at the festival.

I am completely unnerved and disturbed by the fact that Tom Cruise, an unbelievably rich man, has the power to censor something which (I believe...) is protected by the "parody law". The fact that he, one man, is able to get this episode taken off TV is a rather sad commentary on what money can truly do.
The only comfort I have is that he will lose his box office appeal, power, and money within the next ten years and will not be able to do such acts in the future.
Matt and Trey need to protect their work and the work of all of their employees. I seriously hope they fight this.

And indeed they are not. Here is their statement:
"So, Scientology, you may have won THIS battle, but the million-year war for earth has just begun! Temporarily anozinizing our episode will NOT stop us from keeping Thetans forever trapped in your pitiful man-bodies. Curses and drat! You have obstructed us for now, but your feeble bid to save humanity will fail! Hail Xenu!!!"
The duo signed the statement "Trey Parker and Matt Stone, servants of the dark lord Xenu."

That's strange. It's very rare that a scene would take up a whole reel, which nowadays are about twenty minutes long. Even with single reel changeovers, there would be ten minutes missing.
Hmm...
And I must say that Tom Cruise never attracted me in the least. He's always seemed like an overgrown frat boy of the most obnoxious kind.

Posted: 3/17/06 at 1:29pmPerhaps "reel" is the wrong word. That is my error. The fact remains that the film makers themselves acknowledged that Cruise had nothing to do with the missing scene, as much as they would have loved the publicity blaming him would have given the film.

I remember when everyone was talking about how great Jerry Maguire was, so I rented it. We watched MAYBE 5 minutes of it and both of us thought it was HORRIBLE.
I have never really liked Cruise. I didn't even like him in Rain Man, which is a movie I sat through because of Dustin Hoffman.
WHY people went so berserk for Jerry Maguire is beyond my imagination. (I also hated that blockbuster "Love Actually," even though it didn't star Tom Tom.)
I guess I just hate popular movies.

Jerry Maguire was a decent film (Mostly because of Cameron Crowe) but I have a feeling I would have enjoyed it more were I into sports.
That being said, Tom Cruise's acting in Magnolia was excellent and perfect. He seems to be best when playing deranged psychotics like in Magnolia or Collateral. Hmmmm....

Lol. That doesn't surprise me since he is derranged and close to being considered a psychotic. Hehehe
I thought Jerry Maguire was alright. I didn't care too much for Tom Cruise but I loved Cuba Gooding Jr and the little kid. In general, I like Cameron Crowe films, although Elizabethtown was questionable.

It just goes to show you, if you have enough money, you are above the First Amendment. Make fun of any religion, race, sex or sexual preference you like EXCEPT Scientology, of which all parodies should be BANNED! I wonder how Tom would feel if he were suddenly censored from promoting Scientology through interviews. Of course, since Scientology is the religion of the rich, it would never happen, but I would love to see him get a dose of his own "vitamins" (or whatever he wants to call the crap that has turned him into a manic psychotic gremlin freak).

Posted: 3/17/06 at 2:05pmI had to comment on this thread. Tom Cruise has conducted his public life in an atrocious manner for the past several years. I really could care less about his sexuality. It doesn't seem like he treats people well at all. My take is that everything is "all about Tom". He is THE person in the Entertainment industry who I would wish NEVER to trapped in a closet, desert island, elevator...(fill in the blank) with. A**hole!

Posted: 3/17/06 at 2:08pmTo play devil's advocate for just one minute...he did not say that they couldn't air the episode only that if they did he would not do interviews for MI3. So it is not as if he is stopping them from doing it. That said, does anyone really think that his interviews will get any more people to buy ticket for that film?

Posted: 3/17/06 at 2:13pmI hope that he does lots and lots more interviews and jumps up and down on lots and lots of sofa's. Watching his wee thing move up and down and up and down made me moist.

Posted: 3/17/06 at 2:16pmI think the point is that Cruise knew that Viacom would respond to the threat favorably and ultimately achieve his own personal goal, which is censorship. Whether or not his promotion would affect ticket sales is not something Viacom wants to explore, especially if they want to continue a future working relationship.

SOMMS,
You took the words right out of my fingers! Censorship is a small price to pay for the public display of insanity that is possible with Cruise doing MI:3 junkets.
Oh...one more thing. I could not stand Cruise in MAGNOLIA. First of all, his tighty whiteys were stuffed (anyone with a great pause button and a copy of All the Right Moves would know that)...and that scene with him trying to cry over poor, near-death Jason Robards ranks second to his drunk Jerry Maguire scene as the most terrible and embarrassing scenes ever committed to film.
Yes...I'm including Tonya Harding's homemade porno in that list.
