But Sleepy will have a short cable length season (13 episodes...) I agree that this was a pretty weak episode especially if we're around the midway point of the season.
In case you were wondering if the cast is the best and utterly adorable.

Totally back on track this week, and a lot of story line being presented in just 45 minutes or so. Tom Mison is so lovely in both time periods, and can sword fight with the best of them. Orlando Jones is finally getting the screen time he deserves, and it looks like he is going to be one of the good guys. The earlier episodes suggested otherwise.
While I had a feeling Katrina's fiance was named "Brom," I was NOT expecting the Headless Horseman to be who he turned out to be!!!!
Agree! That was a very cool twist in the tale.
Love the two leads more and more. Their performances are brilliant.
An article about the show from the UK newspaper The Guardian:
Have you been watching … Sleepy Hollow?
Thanks for sharing that. I love reading anything I can about the show.
And the leads!
Pleasure, NYAdgal. Always happy to share the wealth of info to be found on this amazing show, and the stellar cast... especially the two leads!!!

There is a new episode on tonight! (I thought Thanksgiving week would be all re-runs.)
From the sneak peeks I've seen it is apparently a Thanksgiving episode -- sort of...

Didn't see this part of the 1781 plot coming at all! No spoilers for those of you who haven't seen it yet.
The humor in this show (especially as delivered by Tom Mison) cracks me up. Ichabod to Abby: "Maybe you have received another package from the Amazon."
Agree - there is some brilliant writing. And Tom Mison delivers each line just perfectly!
I am going to miss this show when it goes off in January!

and to keep reiterating... Crane and Mills have WONDERFUL chemistry... some of the best chemistry i've seen in a show in a long time.. these two are just so natural together and the ending to the episode solidified that.. i was thinking they were going to go the hokey Thanksgiving route but the scene with just the two of them was perfect

I adore this series but I have to admit to one serious gripe. I know they are filming in the Carolinas somewhere, with the result that some of the trees are bearing Spanish moss. Guys - NO Spanish moss in New England. Trust me. Still love the series. And Tom Mison. OMG - gorgeous.
Wonkit, Sleepy Hollow isn't in New England. But there is no Spanish Moss in NY either.
OMG what an episode. I was on the edge of my seat. Felt so bad for Crane, but what an interesting connection! The final scene was indeed perfect.
The moment I saw the trees, I was like OOPS. People need to do their research.
Can we just talk about how really wonderful the mutual respect and affection between Ichabod and Abby is? Whether or not you want them to get together. And how Ichabod is so respectful without being patronizing. And how there are often scenes where the minority actors outnumber the white ones. And how they also just added a character with a disability.
I love this show so much.

btw the Captain's daughter was RUE from the Hunger Games!!! i geeked out when I found that out! haha
TAryn I agree with everything you've said. I have never noticed the trees because the actors take all my attention. Every point you make is spot on. I, too, love this show.
Interesting article from TV Guide on how Alex Kurtzman is stunned by the success of the show.

I know that Sleepy Hollow is in New York. In fact, it was renamed from North Tarrytown years ago in recognition of the Washington Irving stories. My point was not a geography lesson except to point out that we are way too far north to have Southern flora.
Victor Garber has been cast as Ichabod Crane's father!
Delicious!!

I just saw that on FB. Perfect casting. I love seeing Crane's backstory revealed.

Victor Garber! How can I love this show any more than I already do? That's how!
SPOILER TO FOLLOW
Given the fact that there are no apparent direct descendants of Ichabod, it would be wonderful if there are other Crane branches of the family in England. But mostly I want Garber to become recurring - great for the backstory.
