SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON 8.

Nigel mentioned that Debbie Reynolds will be the guest judge next week. (I think he said next week, as he was talking about how difficult it would be next week to eliminate 4.)

DottieD'Luscia Alex tweeted that he wasn't ready to dance when the Vegas auditions happened. Rumor has it he will be an all star dancer this season.

Sorry guys my computer is doing crazy things tonight. It wasn't showing any new updates on this thread. Now I can see the question has already been answered.

Anyways, I was disappointed tonight. As a whole the routines and dancers weren't as strong as last week. I also thought the judges gave too much praise for several dancers, especially the woodpecker hip hop girl.

I agree -- but I think the choreography wasn't as strong tonight...there were only a few that jumped out at me tonight.

Thanks, Sesot.

I was actually bored last night. I didn't get the praise for the woodpecker girl either. I thought their number came off awkward.

I only saw the second hour, but from what I saw I wasn't as impressed either. So does Mia have nothing to do with the show anymore? I loved her choreography (not so much her mean judging though).

Unfortunately, stockard, I think she's gone from the american version, though she is still working on the Canadian and Australian shows.

I didnt love the choreography last night. I always love the Bollywood numbers, but that ballroom grandma actually looked awkward. Im assuming she's going tonite.

Great show last night. There were so many great routines, but I think Jordan and Tadd and Ashley and Chris's routines were my favorites. Debbie was a wonderful guest judge. Loved her Woody Woodpecher impression.

I hope they let Spencer Liff choreograph more of the Broadway numbers. His choreography is fresh and more interesting than most of Tyce Diorio's. He choreographed 1 of the only 2 memorable routines from this week.

I didn't really care who got the boot this week, but I am happy to see the "ballroom grandma" go. Hope next week has better choreography and dancing or this season will be a bore!

I know Tyce is an ass, but I do like his choreography. Did he even do any of the dances this week?

I wish they had kept Nick. He clearly could do a lot more than tap. I would like to see how well he would have done with a different partner.

I can't say I was surprised by the choices, though I thought that samba solo was pretty spectacular given that ballroom solos are usually rather dull and repetitive. I hated that woodpecker routine and I didn't think that girl was so great nor did I think her solo was very good. She was my least favorite of the week. I just didn't see what the judges were raving about. And didn't we see a soldier-returning-home piece a few seasons ago? This one was good, but I kept thinking about the one we saw before with the overweight guy. So far, the piece was the statues is still the best.

I MUCH prefer Liff's choreography over Diorio's. Tyce's always seem to be how can I add more impressive stuff as opposed to telling the story. (He did do a lyrical or contemporary piece last year that I thought was beautiful, though.)

BTW...I finally got around to seeing Every Little Step....what a douche Tyce was.

I like Tyce's contemporary choreography, but I find his Broadway choreography very bland and contrived. Physically, I think Tyce is a dreamboat, but his personality is really off-putting.

I keep rooting for the tap dancers, so I was sad to see Nick go. And I wanted to see a bit more from grandma ballroom too, LOL.

I'm not a big fan of Ryan, the blonde who smiled too much during her routine last week. I think she should have been cut last week, and I thought she should have been cut this week too.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON 8.

I wouldn't have missed Ryan, either -- or any of the girls in the bottom 3 last night -- but I htink the thing that kept her is what Niles said about what else they see still waiting to be reached. Her potential.

I too was bummed about the tapper...I really liked him and agree we could have gone much MUCH further with a different partner.

LOL!!!!!Grandma Ballroom...she was only 30, but it did look a little strange her dancing with the tap dancer...I LOVED THE TAP DANCER.

I thought Debbie Reynolds looked Great...

I wished Nick, the tap dancer stayed too. This season is so top heavy with contemporary and jazz dancers. It seems like the earlier seasons had more variety in the dancers, which made it more interesting. It would have been nice to see what else Nick could do. Nigel said he kept Ryan based on feeling she had the most potential to grow and the boy based on his solo. Travis and Tyce tweeted basically stating they disagreed with the judges.

I was so sad to see Nick go this week. That was a real shame. I feel like he was a casualty of his partnership with Iveta more than anything.

I was also disappointed that they saved Ryan. I liked her in the auditions, probably because she was so featured, but neither of the two routines she's danced required that much smiling.

That jess Le Protto guy was in Bye Bye Birdie Revival and Grinch on Broadway.

You think that's fair to do?
COnsidering he's a professional already?
#73

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON 8.

It's totally fair. The rules state that professional and amateur dances are eligible. As someone else pointed out, Robert was on the national tour of HAIRSPRAY. A couple seasons ago, didn't they have a professional company member of the San Francisco Ballet or something like that? I remember they wanted him on the show, but he wasn't able to get the time off from his troupe.

Lauren Gottlieb from Season 3 was Tyce's assistant in previous seasons.

Anyway, they have professional dancers on this show all the time.
