SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON 8.

The rules don't prohibit it, I'm not sure winning this show guarantees a professional career, but it certainly enables the dancer to live a little more comfortably while trying to do so. (And I'm sure it looks great on their resume...as it does for most of the top 20). Additionally, it's not like all that many dancers make big names for themselves other than within the dance world. (like oh-so-many of our b'way stars)

Benji Schwimmer had won a number of national (and I believed professional) dance competitions. (And as much as I like HIM, I really didn't care for his sister, Lacey, at all. I didn't like her on Dancing with the Stars, either.)

Lacey is my favorite dancer on DWTS. Benji remains my favorite from SYTYCD.

I'm ready for new choreographers on this show. This season is my least favorite from that standpoint. Dancers are excellent.

I liked this week more than last week...a lot more.

I miss the weeks when Travis is not choreographing...and I miss Mia!!!!

My favorite was actually the fox trot. I don't miss Mia, Travis fills that niche, nicely. The camera work on this show, remains abysmal.

Nigel is such a stage and camera hog. I was loving it when Kristin was kissing Lil' C, but then when Nigel kissed him also I was thinking, "Okay Nigel you already had you moment when you made out with Mary. You don't need another one. You didn't have to interrupt Kristin's moment."

After watching one complete season of American Idol, I can put up with anything this panel says or does.

So, those guest performances last night were FANTASTIC! I actually prefer those to the Top 40 musical acts they throw on stage. But based on this week's performances and the solos, I was SHOCKED Ashley didn't go home.

Personally- I don't think Miranda deserved to go home. Her solo was gorgeous! Agree about the guest performances! WOW!

I was surprised Ashley didn't go home too. Her solo was the weakest of the three girls. I think the producers have decided who will get the boot before the solos though, so that might explain things.

I'm still not feeling the love for Ryan. She's a good dancer, but she hasn't struck me as exceptional yet (the way that Melanie or Jordan has). But now we know why the judges like her, she studied with Mia Michaels. She will probably make it to the top 5. But I would like to see her given challenging choreography. I thought what she did tonight could have been handled by any of the gals on the show.

My two favorites girls are Melanie and Caitlyn. My favorite boy is Marco and that's about it.

Poor Caitlyn keeps ending up in the bottom three because I don't think America is really responding to her partner Mitchell.

Carmen Electra's critiques last night we so useless.

I want more of Travis Wall on the judges panel. I loved that he gave them techical critiques and advice on how to improve. Most helpful advice to ever come from the judges panel.

I totally agree about Travis. Best critiques ever.

That Melanie is a star.

This past weekend on HBO the movie DANCE WITH ME was on. It's that movie where Vanessa Williams was a competitive ballroom dancer. Not a great movie but entertaining. Good dance performances.

Jean Marc Genereux and his wife Germaine and Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin where in the movie as competitors in the final latin dance competition.

Joan Plowright, Harry Groener, Jane Krakowski and Beth Grant are also in the movie.

Man, as the weeks go by it gets harder to say goodbye to the contestants because we are really starting to get to know them. We also see how much this competition means to them.

No big surprises this week. The Celine Dion number was the big standout of the week. Loved Ryan's solo and I thought it was a major indicator as to why the judges want to keep her. She's on a completely different level than the other soloists and it was apparent. My two favorites are Melanie and Jess. This week, when they showed a clip of Jess's performance from the night before, there was a slo-mo section that beautifully illustrated his technique and his precision was astonishing.

Oh, and LOVED LOVED LOVED that Bollywood group number. More Bollywood, please. Thank you.

So far all of the people booted have been actual pairs on the show right? I want them to kick off 2 people from DIFFERENT pairings so we can see someone have to get used to a new partner. I felt sorry for Ashley last night when she was crying. Poor girl.

The whole "dance for your life" bit is meaningless. It's obvious who they like and want to keep. They really should just eliminate that portion of the show, and tell us who they're cutting. There simply is no suspense. It was obvious who was going home, before they even danced. I don't vote, but I completely get why Ryan and Ricky are not audience favorites. The one thing I really appreciated about Carmen Electra, was her vocabulary included words other than "amazing".

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON 8.

It's MOSTLY meaningless. The have stated that the judges have already had discussions before the show records. There have been times when they've actually said that the dance for your life CHANGED their minds. The dancers are totally aware of this.

And in all honesty, would you really like your fate decided by the 3 minutes of "deliberating" they are given?

The one thing I DON'T like is that they say things AT the elimination that they have never mentioned in the critiques.

I always marvel at how quickly the dancers have bonded with each other, watching their goodbyes is always so touching.

But I remember when it wasn't mostly meaningless. Making the results show much more fun.

Bad news about Alex Wong, I was so looking forward to seeing him dance again. Does anybody know which show he was appearing on when he injured himself again?

Glad to see that his dance with Twitch from last year was nominated for an Emmy, I loved that routine.

Regarding Alexander's solo, was it that bad? I was warming up to him.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON 8.

LaurenB, to answer your question, yes. Alexander's solo was quite sloppy. I even made a comment to myself that something seemed off when he was dancing. Kind of sad, because his performances on Wednesday night were stellar. But I loved Ricky and Mitchell's solos so much last night.

Not sad to see Ryan go one bit.
