Steve Carell is:
1: funny on The Daily Show
2: funny on The Office
3: funny in movies
4: funny as a guest on talk shows
If he is NOT funny tonight on SNL, it is clearly the show's fault, not his.

The beauty of Tivo, watch one, record the other!
Or, record both and go to sleep!

Or maybe they just knew it would be cliche.
Anyway, I wasn't extremely impressed with the premiere, but SNL has always been hit and miss in my opinion. I'll continue to watch.

What a miserable show this was. They need to give it a decent burial and turn the light off. 30 years is too long.
All they are doing now is recreating news events, instead of bringing comedy to them. There is no "clincher" to their sketches.
In the Jet Blue sketch, there was nothing funny. It was 10 minutes of nothing.
The sketch with the couple fighting in the restaurant went nowhere. What was the comic payoff?
They need to ditch Debby Downer. They no longer put her in situations that make her character funny.
The only thing I thought was funny was the pre-recorded Morgan Stanley commercial. It was funny because the real commercials are so annoying and their spoof of it was great.
The funniest thing SNL could do now is to introduce Tina Fey to the unemployment line.

I know you've never been one to let facts get in the way of your strongly stated opinions, Goth, but Tina Fey had nothing to do with last night's episode what with her being on maternity leave and all. Writing was supervised by Seth Meyers. But whatever.
As usual, the TV Funhouse was very funny. I thought the TV Land Variety Vault sketch was funny, especially Maya singing the Helen Reddy-ish song. Debbie Downer was clever, in that she met Bob Bummer, and I thought Carrell was great in that. Considering there was nowhere to go with Debbie after the first sketch, I thought it was good they came up with some new direction.
I always like musical monologues, so I enjoyed the opening more than many in this thread.
Kanye West running into Mike Myers backstage was hilarious. "Kanye, I haven't seen you since, gosh, when was that?" "The telethon?"
West's songs were great.
Just my opinion.

Will Horatio always sub until Tina returns?
I'm not fond of his style. He always looks like he has walked in with no rehearsal so he is fumbling along. He cracks up at his own lines and very obviously reads the cards.
