If I get a crappy haircut, will John Travolta think I'm hot, too?

the Moonies own the newspaper THE WASHINGTON TIMES.
DP, it has long been rumored that Travolta is gay.
Wow. The comments on that link make the ones on papa's A-Rod link look like they came from Gloria Steinem.
I was going to comment on the original topic, but imagine my surprise to see that I already had! I was going to say that the next person who shoves a Dianetics flyer at me in Times Square will be scraping it off their colon.

sounds like you need a "free stress test"...
How on earth is this not on the cover of every magazine, newspaper and internet page? I think this is way more interesting that the fraud JonBenet killer.

"I cannot believe so many stars have fallen for this belief system and promote it."
Please show me one who is smart. Really. It seems to appeal to not particlarly bright actors who barely make it through high school.

Karen Black left scientology.
so she is @ least that smart.
I just read that entire thing, and I must say the more I look into this, the crazier it sounds. It really just sounds risiculous to me.
I think that this thread has sort of moved past Scientology to this photo.
I am not sure how this will effect Hairspray... maybe it is too soon to tell.
However, I expect a whole lot of free Hairspray press in the upcoming days.
I love Travolta but the man is a sex symbol.
He should play Wilbur and they should give the role of Edna to Bruce Vilanch or Harvey.
I mean, Travolta could save himself in his religion and Hairspray fans could see the very funny Harvey or Vilanch.
Don't fix something when it is not broken.
I love Harvey and or Vilanch as Edna.
Travolta could play Wilbur.
(Raises hand) Welcome Back...... (Harvey darling)
(OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Mr Kotter- (or Shaiman)
Please put Harvey where he belongs!!!!
The sound of Welcome Back Kotter in the distance.
I hope Harvey will be in the film.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both were marvelous.
Again, I just can't understand why this pic isn't EVERYwhere? I have only seen it on Perez and I suppose the magazine that it appeared in. Are people afraid of Scientology? I mean, it's pretty much proof of what everyone has been saying for years.

Um...what 'rumor' that he is gay?
Thirty years ago it was just a given that there was this kid in the cast of Over Here and....
And Travolta WAS a sex symbol at one point many many moons ago. However he seems to have fallen in love with Alfredo sauce in the meantime.
Right now he is chubby and that is kind.
to me... it looks like hes leaning in to give him akiss on the cheek and hug. Now I know plenty of straight men (not in my generation) but older men who hug and kiss goodbye.
Im afraid that in my generation affection just cant be shown to another man.
If they were european, this would not be a story.

Part of the hilarity and charm in the relationship between Wilbur and Edna is the huge size difference! Even if Travolta dropped a significant amount of weight, he doesn't have the frame to play Wilbur. Ideally? I'd have loved to see Harvey. But I think Travolta is a talented actor and I'm kinda interested in seeing what he can do with the part!

Personally I think he's a pretty bad actor. If you want proof - find the movie he did with Lily Tomlin - it was supposed to be a dramatic role but it is so funny , mainly because of his attempts to act.His only good roles are parts in which he has played himself. What a shame they hired this has been to play this role. Hopefully I will be proved wrong- but I doubt it.
This entire thread has made me think of the South Park episode where he and Tom Cruise end up in the closet.

Okay, Moment by Moment? That WAS a bad movie. lol. But those are his Boy in the Plastic Bubble years. I absolutely loved him in Pulp Fiction, Get Shorty and Primary Colors.
"If they were european, this would not be a story."
But they are not, and so it is.
true.
Blue Roses,
I can't see Travolta as Wilbur either. But it makes more sense for him to be Wilbur than Edna.
I just want to see Bruce Vilanch on the big screen.
Is that so wrong. I love Bruce!
This film makes me upset. I wanted to see Matt Morrison as Link.
Kerry Butler as Penny. Kathy Brier as Tracy. I loved the original cast and wish they used most of them.
Chester Gregory should have been cast as Seaweed.
I am just dissappointed.
But that is what life is all about.

I saw Bruce in the role when Carly Jibson was playing Tracy. He WAS great, and I love him, too! But I still say Travolta as Wilbur makes no sense. Harvey is my first choice for Edna, but I'm gonna give Travolta a chance. He may surprise us.
